Things I'd Like To See in SL

I have a bikini from Tree of Life- or its called that- anyway, one can click on it and it gives me the option of accepting or not whether this person can remove articles of clothing.

I thought, when I first started SL, that when I gave someone "edit" permissions not only could they modify my furniture, etc., but that the person could "undress" me.

Same with a dress I have. Although only my partner knows "which" dress it is. Once, just to see what would happen if I answered "no" to the option, he got my hand print embedded in his face. That was a funny moment...lol.

It also comes with a white list and black list, kind of like security orbs.

Apart from the strippable prim clothing mentioned by others, the RetrainedLife viewer allows this on mesh clothing. And attachments too. Although it's aimed at the bondage community, I think it has a lot of potential for all sorts of RP - not just the remove clothing options either, but blocking touch, chat, IM and TPs.

Well, I dont know about all that ... I'm not sure I know what you mean by "blocking touch, chat, IM and TPs" - the mute option takes care of two of them, and I have the option to accept a TP if I want to.

On the other hand, "wardrobe malfunction" keeps coming to mind for some reason.

Occasionally see a really good set of clothes that hang right, but not in a place that I could just ask (plus guys tend not to ask like the females do anyway, SL or RL). It would be great to be able to right-click-edit to read the originator of clothes while they are worn.

Blocking touch, chat etc means someone can voluntarily have these options blocked for them. For bondage purposes, that means if you get locked up somewhere, you stay locked up there. If you're gagged, you really can't talk. For other RP... how about a RL scripted HUD for an in-character that stops teleports unless the person has the ability IC. And of course, in RP being tied up or locked in a room doesn't *have* to have kinky connotations.

Maureen: RL viewer is an alternative 3rd party viewer designed by and for the BDSM community. You install it over the existing LL viewer. There are links and better explanations here...

You can, to a limited extent. If the clothing includes any prim parts, you can right-click > More > Inspect for the creator's name and profile button.

Generally more effective for things like hair and shoes, though.

Owner-adjustable gravity for parcels...or at least for private estates.

The ability to do simple calculations, such as to add, subtract, multiple or divide the current value with another value, in some of the fields in the build editor.

Handles in the build editor positioned such that you an always pick out the one you want without having to zoom in or shift the camera angle.

Ability to search for text inside notecards and scripts while they are in your inventory.

I would like to see them abolish the calling card, make the friends list sortable, as in folders or groups, similar to the way msn and others do it

as well as being able to set the options per group, not individual, so if you do not want a specific group of folks to see you, you just select that group to not see you

and take away the ability to see last login and online or offline in group info for people, as that defeats the show online or offline bit
and do away with the ability for a script to be able to bypass that as well

also the ability to adjust prim parts when worn by someone else, with their permission of course

would make for custom sizing on another person so much easier

No. The only way I would support it would be if you couldn't see anyone else, either. It's been brought up periodically over the years and is a bad idea.

There is already a version of the viewer that can do this.

Flexible links would be fun Generally greater stability, a Search that isn't broken nor gameable (I can dream, can't I?).

But the biggest thing I'd like to see SL try? SL Experience Manager. A whole new world model, where essentially, the geography on SL is ignored in favour of the client selecting parts of the world for you to generate an experience as you'd like to have. It'd be optional of course - the actual SL would still be out there.

Want to socialise? It'll join together all the locations with people in them and you can fly up and down between them. Of course, others just see you teleporting out when you cross one of the edges. Want to build? It'll find a sandbox spot for you, and if you want friends to talk to or help while you build, they'll be there too. Surely it can't force them to fly to the sandbox - nope, it can't, but it can make their avatars appear there with you - there's no geography, remember?

This could be done partly by request or by the system's intelligence. If you say you, for example, want to learn building, it'll find tutorial locations for you and join them together. But also, by loading up these places and exposing you to them, it can find out if you're the kind of person who learns well from seeing masterpieces, or if you prefer to learn from people who're just a bit better than you and work your way up. And then it can arrange for you to encounter either.

Yes, I know, I'm probably sounding insane at this point. But in SL we each have a client through which every single piece of in-world conversation and behaviour goes into, and every single piece of in-world experience comes out of. Surely, there are all kinds of intriuging things that could be used for? If I had any clue if it's possible to alter the client with that much sophistication, I'd try it, but I don't know if the space/login server rules allow a client to just load content from multiple sims.
