I've not really been keeping up with all the policy changes for Adult Content so I'm not sure I'm reading this right... It was my understand that Adult/Sexual activities were permitted on Mature Mainland as long as it was behind closed doors or some such nonsense. That as long as I didnt advertise that I was banging anyone I was free to do so on my own land. Is this now been changed? From: someone Adult Regions, Groups, and Listings Second Life is an adult community, but 'Adult' content, activity and communication are not permitted on the Second Life 'mainland.' Such material is permitted on private regions, or on the Adult Continent, Zindra. In either case, any Adult content, activity, or communication, that falls under our Adult Maturity Definition must be on regions designated as 'Adult,' and will be filtered from non-verified accounts. Other regions may be designated as either 'Mature' or 'PG.' For more information on how to designate land, events, groups, and classified listings, please carefully read the 'Maturity Definitions.' To me that sounds like no nookie on the mainland, period. Am I reading that right? Forgive me for not plowing thru 10,000 threads or blog posts or brown-bag meeting notes.... I am just looking for a clear answer to a basic question.

LL have said it's ok in private, however their official community standards don't make it sound that way and were I new or had not had any communication with Lindens at office hours I'd assume it wasn't allowed on mainland.
They need to rewrite this with a clear and unambiguous statement that it doesn't cover private residences.

No your first assumption was correct. As long as it is out of sight...
Some people are trying to run some rumors around, perpetuating the incorrect fact that the new TOS and CS goes against this.
How ever they are designed to be a cover-all. Just like some could say the TOS contradicts your rights to own your creations. It's not true, just a misunderstanding of legalese.

Pick a thread, any thread, about 'Zindra' and give it a quick scan.
Really it's better than starting yet another 'to-do' about it with your question.

That was the original scenario. Nookie and explicit within a structure. By rule someone camming in couldnt AR the activity vs someone doing it in a home or building on PG land.
But as you well know, some people can't bear not showing all for shock value or whatever psychological itch. I've cited examples the past year where explicit imagery and activities have been rampant in open view and on the borders of PG land. And on PG land on land or sky etc when people bought land that seemed cheap but didn't know why it was. So it's come to where everyone with attachments, poseballs, and product displays with explicit imagery will have a place apart from everyone else.
It's been a major inconvenience for the couple who deserve their special times, people who pursued their fantasies with abandon but within their borders, and LL who had to stop major projects and invest time, labor, and money into making a special continent, and everyone for those LDPW and other developmental projects being shelved.
One trusts adults to know there's a time and place for everything, but because that trust was abused, Zindra happened.
Note that they still can't "do it in the road" unless they own the region and it isn't Linden road. The fact is this merely gives adult content a place and doesn't change that these things should not be exploited in places which do not condone explicit behavior.

So, techincally, I can now be AR'd for having intimate sexual encounters in the privacy of my own home.
Because I don't sell adult content I have no chance of being moved to an Adult region for free. I am instead expected to sell my useless Mature Mainland at a loss and pay extortionist prices for the same freedom I had on an Adult rated sim.
I just wanted to make sure I had it right before I dumped the rest of my Mature mainland.

I just wanted to make sure I had it right before I dumped the rest of my Mature mainland. I think LL has left it like this so they can basically do what they want whenever they want in the future. Everything that I have heard Blondin say is 'In my opinion' before he says anything. Now whether they enforce the hard line as in the wording well that is anyones guess. Many here will say LL wouldn't but you know LL well enough to know that being honest is not a word in the company handbook. IMHO since this all began LL has done nothing except play an elaborate word game with the customers and slipped this in now in the final days of the fiasco. That though is my personal opinion and yes I would love to be proven totally wrong, but I have an idea I won't be.

I don't really deal with "beliefs" anymore when it comes to LL... they've proven my "beliefs" in them to be fallacy far too many times. I just take their cold hard facts at face value. When they say: "'Adult' content, activity and communication are not permitted on the Second Life 'mainland.' " I'm not going to bother wasting my time "believing" anything else or guessing what sort of phucktartitry is arond the next corner. I'm just going to cut my loses... which seems to be my primary SL activity these days.

They make it clear that "Adult" means "adult content or conduct that is promoted or advertised publicly". By implication, if it's not advertised, it's not "Adult". It's a poor choice to have the same word (Adult) refer to a region rating, and a content category, that leads to confusion. The short version of region rating rules is this: Adult - You can have it and advertise it Mature - You can have it, but not advertise it PG - You can't have it

It'd be very simple for them to creat a chart listing what is and what is not allowed for each different region. Instead they have made another rule ambigous so that they can make changes as needed and pull the rug right out from under us I'm beginning to have a lot of distrust with LL , which is sad because I've defended them many times in these forums., and I think the glory days of SL is over. No, I'm not implying the sky is falling, but I do believe these changes are going to have a larger implications that some believe. And from what I've read of the Lindens blog, they don't seem to have a clue.

sounds like they were only referring to mainland not private regions..if thats the case it could have a lot to do with them being so mixed together on mainland..

What if I want to go skinny dipping by myself in my own lake on my own privately owned, non-commercial, mature mainland parcel? I mean just swimming nude with no sexual behavior or animations. Can I be ARed for that now?

Thus, Residents in these spaces should expect to see a variety of themes and content. For instance, stores that sell a range of content that includes some "sexy" clothing or objects can generally reside in Mature rather than Adult Regions. Dance clubs that feature "burlesque" acts can also generally reside in Mature Regions so long as they don't promote sexual conduct, such as through pose balls (whether in "backrooms" or more visible spaces). However, if any of these businesses uses adult-oriented search tags, it may be categorized as adult and also blocked from appearing in non-adult search.
it looks like nudity would not be a problem..just sexual content or sexual activities..

I guess their lawyer must be really old. He still thinks they are called burlesque acts, and not strippers or exotic dancers.

I was really looking for clarification rather then "implication". From: DanielRavenNest Noe Adult - You can have it and advertise it Mature - You can have it, but not advertise it PG - You can't have it
This was the understand I had before I read the new Community Standards. But where does it say that in any official policy or definition? I see nothing that actually would suggest that private residents on Mature rated mainland sims are excluded from the following statement: From: someone but 'Adult' content, activity and communication are not permitted on the Second Life 'mainland.' because it won't go so far as to say "except for residents in their private homes". It just says pretty plainly "Adult ... activity... not permitted". For instance; It says pretty clearly under the "What are "PG" Regions, groups, events, and classifieds?" section of the " Maturity Ratings: An Overview Page" that From: someone sexually-oriented objects such as "sex beds" or poseballs may not be located or sold in PG regions. Why cant it say just as clearly that those objects are permitted to be located in private areas of Mature rated regions as long as they are not advertised? If there is no other clarification I'm going to do what it's smartest to do with LL and go with the worse case scenario.

Pie Said: Why cant it say just as clearly that those objects are permitted to be located in private areas of Mature rated regions as long as they are not advertised? My Answer: One look at the rest of the documentation tells me the answer is they just suck at writing clear and coherent documents. And I say this as a former technical documentation writer. * Myself and Zai Lynch just went through and did a total rewrite of their wiki page on adult content cause it was a mess: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Adult_contenthttp://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Adult_content* They have consistently used words in common use in SL with a different meaning (AO to mean Adult Only, when everyone else in SL uses it to mean Animation Override). This shows they don't know how to write for the target audience. And that's despite the fact it's in their glossary: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Animation_Override* They have made promises to follow through with info in other languages, and not done it. The real problem is they speak three languages internally to Linden Labs: "Legal", "Public Relations", and "Programmer". I ran a poll a while back here in the forums about whether people do adult stuff in SL, and the answer was 2/3 do. If you really think they intend to cram 2/3 of the people into 5% of the land, or that they don't know what a large fraction of the SL population owns sex beds, fine, go ahead and believe that. I don't think there is a secret plan to PG-ify the mainland, merely that they are bad at explaining things.
