Word in the feedback thread is that some "ad networks" were notecarded today, which reminded me of th' "ageplay" notecards back in March 2003 (an which came before th' big ban of May 2003)

I did a quick look along the railroad tracks in Heterocera early this mornin', at some of my favorite "trouble spots." Many of them are being cleaned up, though there's still a large number of towers an stuff in Cyncia. One of the bigger networks has set their ads to an alpha texture too, leaving their boxes intact while otherwise appearing to be gone (the parts of their signs that do not display ads are still visible). Some areas are definitely cleared or otherwise cleaned up.

Anyone else seein' movement on these today?

Mari

I've been keeping my eye on all those unsold micro-plots around my property. Prices haven't dropped yet, but I imagine they soon will.

Not going to hold my breath on that one.

Unless and until I see a definitive policy statement from LL on extreme prices for micro-parcels, doughnut holing and checker boarding, I won't expect see prices on those falling any time soon.

EDIT: At least, not until the owners start choking on the tier payments to hold them.

not likely, they will transfer it all to another or kill the account vs paying it when it gets too much.

Cut and run so to speak

My guess is, that they set up some sensor (YAY! More lag!) to remove the opacity for a few minutes when someone comes within, say, 50 meters of the add. Just a hunch really..

LOL how delightfully pointless!

Sounds a bit like my hunch that the fridge light doesn't go out when the door is shut.

Nope. They just put an alpha in their network. Simpler than a sensor.

3 ad farmers have set up along the roadside next to my store in the last week. their groups are: assandboobs, Alexandres' and Supreme Flock of Land Ninjas. OK the Ninjas don't have anything on their micro parcel yet but it's only a matter of time as it's for sale or rent :\ One of the others has Obama campaign posters for the time being... how long that lasts is anyone's guess. From what I see they're more about flipping micro parcels in the hope that the ad market isn't choked to death.

Q. Does this policy include signs advertising Parcels for sale?
A. Yes it does.

When I got online SL today, I noticed the pointy GnuSense towers are gone from my sim and the neighboring sims..

I've noticed a lot of those obelisks gone, too. But in case you're feeling nostalgic, there's still one at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Maia/126/243/151 in a crappy little adfarm, fittingly just down the SLRR tracks from the lodge of another tag-team member, a couple parcels to the north in Owlet (another fine specimen of... something or other).

Without the adfarmers to tend them and keep them in order, ads will run wild and grow out of control like weeds.

Read it more closely. Land for sale ads are *not* forbidden.

Land for sale adds are not forbidden. Having dozens of 16 m2 plots with a land for sale sign on them, is forbidden.

That's a very good way to put it, and now I know why we still haven't seen the promised blog entry...

...the Lindens are still waiting for their shipment of Lie-agra to come in to firm up their flaccid reasoning.
