I love the prohibition era style. That would be cool. With the speakeasies and pinstripe suits. I love the idea of a Bugsy Malone syle (the kids one).
A volcanic place sounds funky.
What about the time of the Cave people. Cro Magnon and Neanderthal etc?
The lost thing sounds very cool. I don't watch the show but you could easily have lots of people interested.
You could even do a Murder Mystery Island where people pay to take part in Murder Mysteries etc. I like the idea of a murder mystery train but I have no idea how this could be done in SL.
Caledon does vaguely Cluedo-style Murder Mysteries - we've done maybe half a dozen this winter. Darkling Elytis does a wonderful job hosting them!!!
I think it would be very cool if other areas did the same. The way it works is that certain suspects, weapons and locations are known, and clues are hidden throughout Caledon.
On group IM, there is a scream and someone announces that Mr Boddy has been found Murdered, in a Most Foul manner... his body dumped at the Guvnah's Mansion in Victoria City. Imagine an avatar lying dead in a pool of blood! It's quite scary...
This usually draws a couple dozen sleuths and private investigators, who then race against the clock to find the clues, and I usually post a reward of $L 1000 or so. Everyone gets ONE chance to name the murderer on group chat, the weapon and the location where the murder was committed... incidentally, the Suspects are some of our better known Caledon Citizens, such as JJ Drinkwater the Librarian and so forth - who may be around about town at the time - ooooh it's fun
Lots of Poirot's and Holmes and Watsons and Clouseau's come out to gather clues - it's incredible! I remember wandering the Hedge Maze and the Cavorite Mines for ages looking for clues - camming or flying doesn't really work for small stuff - it was really fun racing everyone else!
Anyone's free to join in, but realise this is a little bit of work for Darkling to set up and put on, so it's not like a weekly thing. Interested? Talk to Darkling Elytis in SL - and whenever she's willing to do another one, I'm willing to spot the $L 1k prize for the winner.
I can't wait for Windlight so we can do this under bleak skies, gothic trees and ravens in the Moor, or in fog along the wharf of Port Caledon... you get a real good long journey about the country if you actually solve the case!
beware the Dark Lady with the Poison Lipstick in the Graveyard...
