Hi all, well I have use of a sim, and I am in desperate need for ideas as to how to make something that is great, and profitable enough to cover the sim expenses. I don't want another mall, I don't want another island filled with rentals (although that is what it currently is). I am looking for some great ideas, someting that will be of interest to a wide population.
I'd like to stay away from things that have been over done in sl, time and time again. No sex, no violence, etc, Not necessarily PG, but something that is more widely accepted by many.
Have and idea? Have the desire to act on that idea? Let me know, I REALLY want to hear from you.
Contact me either in world, or reply here. Thanks LILY LIGHTCLOUD

Well my own personal preference is anything related to pirates. I also enjoy areas void of prostitution.

Just an idea I have been kicking around...
01-31-2008 11:59
I have an idea of building (for a sim owner...not for me) a volcanic island with flowing lava streams and a working smoke stack coming from the volcano pit (with lava down in it) and lagoons all around. Giving it an old world look and feel. Polynesia or Hawaii around 200-300 years ago. Mythology come to life, mermaids sea monsters ECT. I have the sketch all worked out and will be scanning it and uploading it to give an idea of what I mean.
As far as RP, it could be a loosely written to resemble Mutiny on the Bounty and Pitcairn’s Island, but volcanic... any takers?

The thing I hear over and over again is a real lack of good Space themed RP areas. Note I said *good*. There are plenty of bad. Maybe I should qualify that by saying 'good non-starwars/startrek space themed RP areas'.

Maybe I should qualify that by saying 'good non-starwars/startrek space themed RP areas'. I have specialized in space theme... I have worked closely with Ultimate Empire at War modification MMORPG as the lead modeler, and although the models are Star Wars, I have quite a few original model designs not related to either SW or ST. I came close to joining the RP of several SW and one ST sim, but found them a bit stiffling...so yeah, a GOOD space theme would be good.

Great Ideas
01-31-2008 12:09
Wow, some great ideas, yes I definetly want to do something different. I like the idea of the volcano an lava flow. I have never really done much roleplay, so not sure what exactly could be done.
Lots of good ideas, please keep them coming in, and if anyone is interested in helping build on this, please let me know.
Thanks All!!

I am to the point atm where I could sink my teeth in a building project...I know a thing or two about maps and terraforming...as well as building and textures.

Drop by Rygeon 2024. That is a 14th Century Role Play sim I just built. I wrote this story in 2005 and was happy to see half of book one come to life within Second Life. There are 6 more books that could be themed out on Sims - Please read Book One at http://www.rygeon.info. The more nefarious side of Rygeon 2024 needs to be developed. A lot more mature theme that would definitley attract a large audience. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Rygeon%202024/111/244/22

I would love to do this though!!! I am so tired of the desperate housewife RP that I am in!!! I need to break out of this rut! Muah, Jez

we have a couple of volcano's on our sims, if you wanna check out my profile inworld and go to my swamp in picks, the sim to the South and the one to the south west both have different volcano's on them.
If you need help building a sim we have a pretty good team, we all pulled together to put a build together on the southern most sim called "unmapped". lots of caves, old powerstation, army base, sewers, jungle and a run down city (still under construction). all built on a 'void sim' so were pretty good with prim limits (watch out for the zombies, make sure u have a gun. buggers will send you home if they bite you enough). contact me in world if your interested in using our services.
cheers

I enjoy Rygeon, the build is no less than spectacular *waves and smiles at Lias*. I would also like to see more sci fi RP that isn't star trek or star wars themed. Space Colony Necronom is a wonderful space themed RP sim. It is a mature themed RP though. If you could do something like that (or rygeon) - good story line and great build - and keep it interesting with a PG theme (which is entirely possible) I'd come play.

Theme

Hey Lily Grats on the full sim..what a dream! First off...dont know if youve ever played anytype of PC game..but ive had a few inspire me..also screen savers. A WILD WILD WEST themed SIM would be "cute" ...full with old 39 Train...grand canyons..painted deserts AND CACTUS(dont forget water towers jails..saloons and rodeos included).....or..you could go Elven Glen with huge watermill and surrounding caves...thatclead down to stones that telport you to skyboxes fully enclosed in their own lil world. I've been working on russian art nouveau builds..alot of fillagreed windows..funny shaped builds..flower shops..train stations..University..steampunk train and an old folx resort all covered in snow. Stuff thats influneced by Erte and Mucha. Screenshot stuff you see on the web..I've seen a few neat sims in SL that really pushed the envelope on imagination as well..Like lightwaves SIM...circling lights over steaming water with meteors raining down and splashing below...bridges going to nowhere.etc. Goodluck Hun ~Lana Tomba

hmmmm considering most themes have been done in one form or another - Ill think of ones I haven't seen sims for.
1930's Untouchables/Gangster
A surrealistic Twilight-zone version of Route 66 in the 1960's
Feudal Japan
A Pre-colombian American city (ala Apocalypto)
Ancient Egypt
A Lost World type setting.
And last - my personal favorite:
A sim wide Cubicle Farm.
