Black Friday Protest

What would happen if we all picked a day and converted all our Lindens into cash and then removed it all from SL? Just for a few days to further our protest agains the mismanagement of the OpenSpace sims?

They'd make a shed load of money not just on the intitial sale but on us buying Linden dollars back on Saturday

Well, you'd be giving LL a percentage of the conversion while potentially hurting in-world businesses run by people you presumably have no quarrel with by not spending the money on products and services.

Unfortunately, there is only one way to effectively show your anger at LL, and understandably many won't do it. Walk away, and don't come back. And they know it.

A better protest would be to create 100 blogs in as many languages as possible detailing the bizarre business practices of this company. Link all of the blogs and keep posting. Set the blog web address in as many profiles as possible and make a goal of sending out a collective 1,000 links to these blogs weekly. Linden Lab only responds to negative publicity outside of their world. Let them scramble around conducting damage control the way many are scrambling now to save their land.

You'll discover very quickly that the Linden Excange is not LL accepting or doling out cash for Lindens. (=_=)

When you "buy" lindens, the exchange matches your purchase with another resident that's selling.

When you "sell" lindens, the exchange matches your sale with another resident that's buying.

So, in fact, there is currently NO way to truly "cash out" of SL in a way that LL ever loses any money. What WILL happen is that the Linden Dollar will devalue so much that it would eventually require a virtual infinite amount of L$ to equal $1. (=_=)

The only paid source of L$ from Linden Lab is the premium member stipend. In which you have paid LL directly for membership, and in return, they generate additional limited license L$ to be placed in your premium account E-wallet. (=_=)y

I say go for it - the less people logged in, the less lag I might have to deal with.

There comes a time where you say enough is enough. If your experience withe SL degrades so far is it worth sticking around "just because there is nothing better"?

When the service provider you pay each month, in some cases hundreds of dollars, shows you nothing but contempt, incompetence, and a lack of truthfullness on many issues, is "there is nothing better" really the only response?

Why do people keep thinking that anything short of deleting works?

Vote with your feet if you have the gumption. Any other "boycott" is just a hare-brained stunt, and doesn't affect them one bit.

Voting with your feet just makes room for them to sell to the next sucker. Why lose your entire investment? Vote with bad Publicity - they pay attention to that. Investors read blogs also.

I agree with Cristalle. Deleting is the only form of protest that would get the point acrossed. Thinking that you will just be basic and not pay anything into the system won't work either, since land owners subsidize LL's cost for free accounts, by their own admission in the past. Plus, you will still be contributing to the "magic" concurrency number they use as a selling point for SL. Until there is REAL competition, the only option is to take what is given or to delete and hope others follow your example.
