Am I right in thinking the IP addresses of simulators are being changed? I could be wrong. Somebody simply mentioned that to me in-world yesterday.
If that's the case, then I imagine these login issues are happening where DNS information has not been propagated. Ie. When the SL viewer tries to log you into a sim, it uses a name, not an IP address, but if DNS propagation hasn't hit your ISP yet, that name is still pointing to the sim's old IP address...which is no longer valid.
As for those who can successfully login, could you provide the names of the sims you first logged in at? If you can click Help > About and provide the domain address of the sim that would be useful too (we can compare DNS info and see if we get the same IP).

I already checked the IP with someone else who could log in. The SIM ips were the same for both of us, based on me doing a DNS lookup for the SIM host name.

Always puzzles me how experiences can be so different  . I just logged on without any glitches this morning, and haven't encountered any problems in-world. I've been using search and shopping without any problem at all  . I tried logging my alt on too and it went through fine as well, although there was a bit of a delay. Might help to try logging on to an SF sim since I usually restrict myself to those? Hahne or Kara would do. |

the past 2 weeks have been hell on SL with all the lag and crashes and non-logging in...

you just simply can't move or dress, get up your inventory,, move things about without them popping back and forth. So while it maybe up but it's still not right, nor functioning properly for work, or even play.
