Because of database links that cannot be resolved probably. My avi key, in the database, is associated with the inventory item key, in the database. However, when actually trying to retrieve the item, something happened on the back end and it cannot be found/retrieved.

Also, the best way to sometimes contact the seller is by creating a notecard explaining your problem (include a screen shot of inventory as Oryx suggested - you can drag pictures into notecards) and then drop the notecard onto the Seller's profile so that they get it the next time they log in. This solves the problem of just trying to meet up with them inworld when your schedules may be totally different.

Were these some sort of special weaponized nuclear powered gloves? Lined with the skin of unborn baby minks, perhaps?

Actually, if the original box is still available and contains another copy of the gloves, this is a very good idea. I believe that every copy of an item is a unique item that must be stored in the database. Just because one copy is corrupt or missing does not mean that all copies of the item are the same.

you guys got that wrong.
the gloves were $500L, and i have 268L left after buying the gloves, hat, and shoes. hat and shoes work fine tho (different vendor).

I've seen this problem. It lasted for a few days, after which I stopped trying, and then a few weeks later I tried again and it worked just fine.

I say, try again later. Also, send a note to the maker. Simply getting a new copy might fix it, as it's prim clothing. Might not, but in that case everyone with that product will see the same problem, so the maker probably has a workaround.

probably after a sim restart. i get same results, so often only rez non-copy items in my own sim, which seems to get some sort of maintenance restart every 3rd day. this means i have to retype all the data for the land if i want to remain in search, which is a real pain. but if i lose something to SL monsters, i usually get it back, magically, in just a few days.

Look up "NCI" for the New Citizens Institute. Almost always people there will to help if you ask. Good place to get started in any case. Friendly bunch of people. You will probably get a lot of these same sugguestions, but at least there will be some one standing there watching each step just to be sure.

That would mean the gloves are prim though, and the OP said there were only two items in the folder, HUD and glove(s). If he or she was expecting two gloves, I'm wondering if the non-HUD item is another box which needs to be opened...I've seen that before, boxes within boxes.

Nope. In my case it was clothing, which has nothing to do with sims at all. This case is an object, which is more complicated so more possibilities for where things went wrong.

Folks attribute lots of things to sim resets that couldn't possibly be related. In this case it's hard to tell, but I wouldn't expect it.

Juralp looks like you got a lot of responses and hopefully you already figured out stuff by now.
What I was referring to is often sometimes there is no place to rezz the logo box this box or prim with their logo is a package like a store but you need access to it to get item.
Recently I discovered you can wear the package to get items out....that technique was what I was describing.
SL asset server has been giving me also lot of issues.
Often when I put on clothes I have made or bought or even remove clothes there is major lag and nothing happens right away.
When you are looking for item their is often with clothing a special icon next to name of item and you can drag it from the package when wearing it to your inventory...aka where you store stuff. Then find item select wear.
Usually this works but some days asset server is grumpy and nothing works.
Try again later when there is less people online like when its below 40k maybe that will help?
