very confused, am i doing something wrong?

i've tried 5 different sims so far (went to different places yesterday, tried wearing them in all those places)
500L, i have 268L left after the hat, shoes, and gloves (that don't work) i bought. as far as i can tell, 268l is useless in SL :/

Juralp, turn on your Private Messaging for this forum. In the upper left corner, click "User CP" then go to Options. About half way down you'll see a box to check to enable Private Messaging. Send me a private message (PM) as to the name of the shop where you bought them. I'll see if I can check it out inworld.

the sim itself (the land where you first rezzed the items) is the land that must be restarted. you cannot do that. only Linden Labs can do that.

oh, i was thinking PM's would default to on. turned it on.
also, may as well tell you here, i don't rememebr the name of the island/sim offhand i bought the gloves from, it's not veyr easy to remember. once i log back in tonight, i'll see if i can find it again. (again, at work. i'm not going to play SL at work )

Sounds like he has unpacked the box right, but if not, Hanson has a teleporter to dressing rooms where he can do that. Build is off at the infohub, so you can't unpack boxes there. The dressing rooms have it on, though, and they are almost always totally empty and free of traffic, so there is almost no lag. It's a nice quiet place to go sort things out when you are Ruthed and don't particularly want to be seen until you fix things.

If you know how to do a search ... try these places:
Free Dove
- One of most used freebie places. Has some good clothes, hair, skins, shapes for both male and female.

Sarah Nerd
- Freebie paradise, or something like that. Very nice collection of Free and starter items. I have seen people pay thousands of L$ that did not look as good as some made from here.

While you at it ... have you heard of SLK otherwise known as SL Exchange?

Basically it's a web site where people list things they have for sale in SL. You can buy them there and have them delivered automatically. I mention this because there are many many free items that are listed through SLX.

@yosef - i'll check those islands, but of all the freebiew thigns i've seen so far, they look good on the vendor pictures, but bad in-game. since they're free tho, i'll see if i can find anything on those islands like what i'm looking for.

If you remember the name of the store you bought it in, Oryx can find it. She and a handful of the other women on the forum are terrifyingly good when it comes to shopping related issues.

I'm confused as to why gloves would come with free updates.

you can right click any item in your inventory and find the name of the creator. then just do a search on that person, find their store inside their picks, and you're good to go.

sadly, i don't. the vendor was named "*the maker's name* Shop", and needless to say, i don't remember his name.
man, i need to bring my laptop with me, so i cna do SL at work during my free time

@ann - they do stuff. grow spikes, change color, change shape, etc. i'm guerssing the updates come with new shapes, new spikes, etc.

I wouldn't put it past Ann, Oryx or Lindal in particular to name the shop based on knowing that it sells gloves and has the name "Shop" in it. They're like psychic savants when it comes to stuff like that. Gives me the willies. Ann has enought clothes to outfit an entire continent - like Africa, maybe. Oryx has 40,000,000 hairstyles, and Lindal...Lindal and shoes. OMG, she needs a 12-step program for shoppers.

Me: it had walls.
Oryx: That was Virtual Creations. First room on the right for men's hair. They have a sale this week...

well.... you don't really even know half the terms we are talking about, and what they mean/do/etc so i wonder if you are even rezzing it right.

there's no way to know until you go back inworld and test a few theories.

with the object missing from database error you get, my opinion is that the gloves are gone.

sometimes the relogging clearing cache, using different sims etc will make missing items reappear, but it seems in this case it is not working

when I have items that say missing in database I just simple delete them, because I never get them back

If I were in your position, I would contact the seller, and explain to them the issue, I would not purchase another pair, as that too could end up being missing from database...

If the seller will not help, then save your lindens and shop around at the freebie places until you can afford and find a new pair of those type of gloves elsewhere

you can also submit a support ticket letting linden lab know about the missing object from database, sometimes they can help (but I would not hold my breath) never hurts to try though

We don't know the permissions on the item, but we know it came boxed. I wonder if they are copy/no mod. Maybe he can re-unpack the box and get a new pair.

he can try, but I doubt it will work if it is truely missing from the database

hopefully when he gets on SL he can refer back to this thread and make sense of all the suggestions heh

I'll be on later tonight and I'll try to hook up with him and see if we can sort it out, but I'm definitely not the best person for the job.
