Seriously, though, if "M Linden" is too much for the gol darned search engine, shouldn't Fearless Leader at least add a few more letters to the first name??? Which brainiac couldn't see this coming? |

Wow at the negativity on this thread. The poor man hasn't even got his feet wet. I for one am willing to sit back and watch. He takes over on May 15th, so I think in 6 months we will know how he will be fairing. Good Luck to M Linden and congrats on your new position.

Wow at the negativity on this thread. I've been avoiding this thread for just that reason. Hopefully an on-topic thread that has content will appear.. _____________________

Heh, all kidding aside, I am hopeful that a new CEO might be a step in the right direction. From what I've seen of this guy's portfolio.. he might have the Moxy it'll take to turn this ship around.
I remember a time when there was a "Communications Service" (back before there really was "an Internet" that was a relatively small company, with a dedicated userbase, but the service was faltering under it's own popularity, content censorship, etc etc.. As the "net" began, this company was known throughout the young and blossoming "internet" as a joke in terms of customer service and limited access. The right people, making the right decisions, at the right time, turned America Online into a serious force in the world. I'm hopeful that "Second Life" or whatever.. can grow PAST these problems we have today.. it's going to take leadership, and focus, and planning. So, I'm hopeful. At the same time.. I still think it's hilarious that Marcus had no payment info on file. _____________________

Me too Winter. I like to joke around but I do have hopes that this will be just what LL needs to become a strong force.
His customer service background will help tons if he teaches it to Lindens. His contacts with big corporations will help with maybe giving the grid a second chance in that realm. His marketing skills will help in interviews, blog postings, etc etc. He will have a better grasp on tact then Philip did hehe. All in all things could be very positive. Again I say though that he needs to be allowed to do things his way. Taos and Love Machines were Philip's way of handling the Lab. M needs to be able to do things his way or there will not be much that will likely change. It was time for a change. _____________________

Better a volunteer than a 'pressed man any day - or a head hunted man - and M did ring Philip and ask for the job.

From what I've seen of this guy's portfolio.. he might have the Moxy it'll take to turn this ship around. A CEO of a technology company with no technological background doesn't inspire a whole lot of confidence in me. We've already gotten more than enough marketing talk from LL, it's time to actually *do* something instead of merely making empty promises and doing nothing. http://www.projectcartoon.com/cartoon/8390 ![]() |

I was seriously hoping to see Trout Linden. You and me both. There actually is another side to me than the one I show here. I'd be a legitimate asset to LL. However, I'm not willing to relocate away from my children, so unless they're hiring for a position that doesn't involve me living full time in San Francisco, then both of us are out of luck. Besides, I have a little business venture of my own brewing in RL. I'm probably leaving my job within the month to strike out on my own. Scary times. _____________________
