Yes, I think I see the difference now. I haven't been around long enough & haven't made hundreds or thousands of posts yet. I'm not part of the forum clique so can't really be part of the conversation. /me goes back to lurking until she's "good enough" for the high school in crowd.

Wow where did that come from? A couple people made comments about your phrasing being a bit crude or such and suddenly it is a conspiracy? As far as I know anyone is allowed to join into the inworld Forum Cartel if that is what your referring to. There really isn't a clique. Make a comment whenever you want. Actually the only way to feel like your part of the group and not a lurker is to join in.

Just be aware of what you say. Surely you meant your statement to have some shock value. Then you get upset that people are shocked? Really?

Agree Nina, but I also need to get in SL right now because I have a class in 10 minutes that I don't want to miss. :) Maybe I'll come back to this thread later. And btw, I wasn't trying to start a discussion on abortion. I was simply making my own comment and didn't know it would provoke anyone considering that others had made comments on abortion previously. Anyway, into SL I go.

Both you and Todd disgust me right about now . If you really can't see the difference between what you said and receiving a stupid friendly notecard ,than you need your head examined. I don't need a clique to tell me that abortion is a very serious and sensitive subject. I am pro life and usually don't debate the issue on forums because I tend to have very strong opinions on it and I like my SL account. But when a dirtbag like you comes along and trivializes it, well it kind of pisses me the fuck off.

And with that, I will leave you to yourself. Carry on.

I think you need a holiday somewhere relaxing.

Yes, that must be it, I need a vacation. It couldn't possibly be the idea of ripping into an unborn baby's head with a coat hanger that has me upset. Cause gee, that's just normal and acceptable behavior and I should really just get over that......

yes and you should stop using such emotive words. Although the situation you describe was one of the compelling reasons that civillised countries legalised abortion in the first place.

Like the rest of SL, if you see something you don't like then move on.

It's just not something you joke about if you are a decent human being.
And the whole SL abortion clinic thing has already been done by people even more pathetic than those making jokes about it in this thread. You may think you're pithy and clever but it's old news.

Nonsense! You have as much right to post here as anyone else and say what you like - and everyone else can respond (or not) as they wish. Please don't take things so seriously.

I agree with you, that it was very rude to just drop a notecard on someone with that message and I might certainly have responded with a return notecard message (assuming it was just dropped on me and not solicited in any way). Mickey may be right and this could be a silly form of griefing - or the OP could just be confused and think that this is part of the "game" which she needs to follow.

Sorry, but to me it is an emotional issue. I really rather not get into it,but I am sure we view abortion and it's effects very differently. So it does bother me when I see someone crudely make it into something equivalent to having a tooth pulled.

Can you be a little more vulgar please? TIA.

Please everyone move on.. nothing to see here. We all know that the Second Life forums in not the place to have an abortion debate.

Personally I think Reiko's first comment to Maggie was reasonable... letting her know she found her post to be vulgar. Certainly nothing for Maggie to suddenly feel she was being censored by a group.

I have a friend (yes, a friend *L*) who visited a clinic in SL. Apparently, she sat in a "chair", not realizing the "gun" was loaded. Oops.

She decided to keep the baby... went through the two weeks (I think?) of pregnancy, and one day (that's right, just one day) before the baby was due, the server crashed and she lost the baby. She was devestated.

True story.

Oh my! Did she really invest so much emotion into this? SL is so very imersive, but this does sound extreme!

Never mind though - the gestation period is very short in SL - she can quickly try again. A planned family is good. ;)

You are right, I am done here. This topic does nothing but upset me, so I will stay away from this thread. I'll be in world making prim babies if anyone needs me.:p

When it gets tough being a Mum, I console myself with the thought that boarding school in Australia is a good idea. If you live in the Northern hemisphere, that's just about far enough.

What is this thing with you people and boarding school? I went to one. This is a real eye-opener. Okay, so you sent kids like me to them so you can have parties, bonk like bunnies, and pretend you never had us.
Do you realize that highlight of one term was my discovery of Piccalilli and Branston pickles which I ate with a spoon under cover of darkness?
Don't you feel just a little guilty?

Someone thought they were playing the SIMS,

A feeling helped by a bunch of other people who act like they are playing the SIMS...

The resulting forums conversation naturally led to a debate on RL abortion.

Evidently the ESL moderators missed it.

Can I ask how old you are in RL? I honestly can't see anyone of legal age getting this worked up over a fictitious pregnancy!

In case you missed the last ten pages worth of posts in this thread, here is a summary:

YOU decide if your avatar is pregnant or not.

YOU decide what level of roleplay you want to devote to the pregnancy if you decide to go through with it.

If YOU don't wish to be pregnant, then you're not pregnant. It's that simple. Really!

I don't understand what the crisis is?

There will be no, I repeat no, consequences, if you ignore those messages. They are just spam.

You can find that place in the in-world search, but if you really want to get a prim baby then shop around. Lots of people make them, they run whole gamut from creepy to sort of cute, and they range from pretty much free to ridiculously expensive.

No - not at all. Boarding school did you the world of good! Probably saved your parents sanity as well. ;)
