Okay...

What happened? If you know, can you fill the rest of us in? Maybe there is something we can do. Once we know this, we can do what we can to make change. Privateer Space is worth saving.

I want to help, too!
Lindens, keep that sim alive or a lot of residents will be very angry.

I can't believe this. The most incredible place, built by the most visionary artist. It represents all the best SL has to offer. It's been my favorite hangout for weeks now.

If it goes, SL is going to be a much less interesting place, and I'm not so sure I want to be here any more.

Something isn't making sense here. It's extremely easy to talk to real people at LL when you've got concierge level service. I've done it several times, both over the phone and the live text chat. They've always been quick to respond and very helpful.

What Raymond Nightfire said suggests that this is a resident vs. resident issue. If that's true, LL doesn't get involved unless it's a TOS or RL legal issue that involves them.

It's a shame that the area is closed off. If we could hear the full story, we could figure out if there's anything we can do or not.

Looking at the description, I'm guessing that the sentence "speak to a single human with..." has been cut off, and that the next word is meant to be "authority" or "knowledge" or something else along those lines. So probably it is something like an ingrained technical issue, a resident-to-resident dispute, or a false AR.

Sounds like you know more about what happened than some others do here..

Got a link to somewhere that gives the story?

The only info I got is from other residents, but from what I hear is that some sandbox owner ARed Aley just because she helped some one with something. I tried to contact her and got no responce, every one else I know is doing the same and getting nowhere; Aley has a lot of freinds all over SL.

I still stand by my remark, make the person who started this suffer as much (if not more) as we are suffering!

A few days ago, I happened to be in a sandbox when a certain AV came by and dropped one of the protest signs.

Since the sign was pretty vague, I checked out the picks in the AV's profile and went and checked out PS.

Cam-Fu is right! Maybe I shouldn't have but I checked out just about every square inch of that SIM (the only place I couldn't really visit was the very bottom - level stuff like the Mars area and others at that elevation)

I was completely floored.

Awestruck.

Took lotsa pix for memories in case this really is the end.

I went there couple of weeks ago and spent hours and hours exploring the place, picked up the space bug and had so much fun with it! I really hope it will not be gone forever, because it was one of the few places I have actually had great fun visiting in SL in years.

Whatever brought the decision to do this, I hope everything will be fine and that the Privateer Space sim will stay.

Awww... this surely is sad news. I just other day thaought about going back there. Didn't explore half of what was there. Sad, sad that good sims are disappearing.

Think that depends on what happened, which I'm not sure is something we know.

That's the problem, there's nothing that CAN be done.

Privateer Space was totally unique in Second Life. Even tho it was built on only one sim, it was huge--extending upwards thousands of meters. It was original, but paid homage to a lot of classic sci fi institutions and movies without stealing from them. It was completely non-commercial. You couldn't buy anything there, but there were lots of new original freebies scattered around. There were hotel rooms and mining cabins, but you couldn't rent one. Every time I went there, I found something new.

Aley researched "anything that was anything" in SL before she put together Privateer Space. She loved it when people would take one of her designs and change it in interesting ways. She had a reason for everything she did in PS, no matter how small the detail.

I don't know what happened, but since PS closed, she's dropped off the grid completely.

Aley Arai, and Privateer Space was the best thing to happen to SL in YEARS, and the loss is tragic.

I can't agree more.

Truly. I remember after picking up a Space Bug I had noticed that it was full perms. I asked her if I could use the scripts in my own craft creation and she let me know they were completely open-source. (^_^)

When I finally made my essentially ruined version of a little shiny ship I asked for help. She immediately friended me, requested I give her "Move Objects" permissions and spent an hour or more correcting all my mistakes. (^_^)

Not only was she creative and talented. But she was one of the nicest, most helpful, and considerate people I have known. Sure, opinionated, yes. That was part of her charm. Personally, she was one of the star avatars of SL. It's beyond a crying shame that LL turned a blind eye to this. (T_T)

It's the cynic side of me that wants to make a snide remark about how this outcome fits the recently announced pragmatic and corporate future of SL... But, I'm above that... Or am I? (>_<;)

Things like this should never happen again!
07-29-2008 08:35
This is the second time an AR happy idiot drove a famous SL resident out, and this time there may not be a recovery effort!

Every one knows about Arcadia and Slum City, now we have Aley and Privateer Space! In fact both of them were freinds, Aley mentoiend Arcadia several times, modded the tour bus for PS, and had a picture of them in one of the hotel rooms (the room with the only locked door, you had to cam in to see it). This should have never happened to another one of SL's greatest builders!

Again, I still say the moron who started this should suffer! Ban him from your land, boycot his, and make him pay for killing a major part of SL!

If no one can get copies of the contents of PS or get ownership of it (if it can be purcased, don't change the pre-exsisting items excpt ditching those closed signs, and attemting to finish the abandoned projects), we will need some one to build a region with the same goal in mind as a tribute to the lost builders, and hope that this never happens again!

Would not surprise me if the Goons from SA or the ED idiots were behind this.

AR'd for what also?

This thread leaves me with the impression that whatever they did wrong supposedly is left off the discussion.

The signs there just say it's closed due to LLs refusal to "communicate on an issue of abuse".

Was somebody selling her stuff? Did they have some constant griefer that LL wouldn't smackify?
