They ask for our opinions on something, after they've already made up their minds they are going to do it. And more often than not, the way they're going to do it is NOT the way the users want them to. You left out a step... after they make the change, they claim they did exactly what residents had asked them to do and that the majority are much happier now. |

i guess the biggest thing would be how they word things or instead of giving a straight answer feel they have to dance around the question leaving people even more confused than before they asked the question lol  this^^^ _____________________
There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps.You can bake cookies in a tree. LL needs to work on their math skillz. They add up 1000 users screaming "this sucks and is broken!" plus 2 users who say "works great!" plus 2 users who don't like it and give constructive critisism and they get "at least 50% like it! resolved!"

The lack of a "real" first person view. This has bugged me since coming to SL from EQ as I really prefer to experience SL "through my own eyes" rather than over my own shoulder.. Definately agree with that. I won't just give 1 reason, I'll give 3.. 1) Lame because they seem intent on carrying on with their rather poorly made AV, instead of just doing it right. 2) Lame because they refuse to address the issue of people wanting a small island product made available to us commoners. 3) Lame because they intend on closing this forum. _____________________

Sure, I can juggle several arrow keys around with Mouselook on, but I have never been able to get that to work smoothly. With EQ you just click on which view you want from the menu - easy. Would that have been so hard, LL? I haven't played EverQuest, so I don't know what you experienced there, but mouselook works pretty well for me. There are real problems with a first person view in closeup situations, though. When you're hugging your partner, you pretty often see an eyeball, or the inside of her head. _____________________

Agreed, thus the availability of several views for different situations.  EQ had first person,third person and looking from the top down view (SL might have that...just haven't tried it). I haven't played EQ in quite awhile so I can't recall exactly, but it was super easy to change from one view to another, even while running (which was sometimes really necessary when being chased in a narrow dungeon by a train of baddies.!!). _____________________

I don't understand walking away instead of trying what one can to improve the place, although some will choose to leave rather than engage in a frustrating uphill battle (in whatever issue they feel needs work), but how does that help LL's bottom line? Thing is, this ISN'T real life; it competes with real life. And a lot of SL's problems do not exist in real life, so people will simply unplug and go there. It doesn't make them a whiner, nor a failure, to give up SL. So I don't understand the 'tough luck' response if someone spots things that can improve. ("Too bad" can apply to real life because people are sometimes stuck there, or (i.e.) stuck in a certain situation for a while at least. But 'stuck' never applies to Second Life - so neither does "tough," in my opinion.) In other words, people choose to be here, so it makes SENSE to listen to them. The consumer should be king. |
