Apart from a relative who tried out SL some time ago but rarely logs in, I haven't knowingly met any other SLers in real life. But who knows?? - It's not something everybody would want to shout about from the rooftops!!!

Well, my RL best friend and one of my brothers are in SL...so they don't count for this question.
![]() But yes, I have!! I've met three SL residents in RL...and spoken to four others on the phone. ![]() My meet ups were awesome! |

I met my Will irl and it was wonderful. We will be taking a vacation next month going to see Niagra Falls and Toronto. When I met him it was like I have known him for years. It felt that comfortable.
![]() My sister Megs, I spoke with her over the phone while she was hospitalized. A couple of others by phone, text and email. ![]() I am very selective who I engage with outside of sl. ![]() _____________________

I introduced my mom to SL, but since I knew her in RL first, I guess that doesn't count.
I have met one of my best SL friends in RL and plan to see her again next week. I have talked to two other SLers on the phone. There are a few others that I would love the opportunity to meet. _____________________

I almost did. When I took a trip to Australia I made arrangements to meet with a friend. Our schedules clashed badly though. The best we got were about 4 voice mail messages back and forth. Oh well... (=_=)y

I believe it. I can totally imagine you being great company over a good lunch. (^_^)y Immy ( Eating out? =^-^= ) Pep ( . . . although last time I did that the couple at the next table appeared shocked at some of the conversation they overheard!) PS eg "I have given up escorting and now I just do the odd shift stripping in the Arabian Nights club". _____________________

Until last year, I kept SL and FL (as opposed to RL - not sure what that is LOL) as separate as possible, but then I started chatting occasionally on Skype with someone I met in SL.
Among other things, we're both Leonard Cohen fans, and when Cohen announced the European leg of his world tour, Amsterdam was on the list. It so happened that I was planning a trip to the UK (from Australia) but hadn't booked my ticket, so I rearranged my schedule and suggested to him that we should go to the concert together. Meeting was just an extension of the friendship we'd developed in SL, and we spent a fabulous three days in each other's company. We continue to be close friends, despite the fact that we've had to go back to navigating the time difference and hanging out in SL rather than spending time together in the flesh, which is a bit strange, but we always knew that would be the case. Interestingly, we still role-play just as much as when we hadn't a clue who was behind the avatar, despite knowing a great deal more about each other now. If you'd asked me a couple of years ago whether I'd hook up with someone I met in a virtual reality, let alone travel half way around the world to meet them, I'd have laughed. Happily, it turned out to be one of the most exhilarating experiences in my life (to date, that is - I'm never averse to more exhilarating experiences ) |

Oddly enough I have met people who knew who I was, but I didn't know them.
And the people I *do* know, I've never met face to face. That is likely to change eventually. I've done phone calls, though; and many people know my real name, where I live and so forth. Were it not for that freakish 1% or whatever the percentage is, I'm not too worried about my 'real life' info. But that anonymous, freaky minority keeps my real life info from being used here in full public view. _____________________
