From: Kiboe Munro this is why i rent in land that lets you buy the parcel and have full admin controls over the parcel, they are expensive, but i'd rather that then renting pre-built homes I allow my tenants the right to eject and ban people, and they also have their own security systems. One does not need to buy land to have all the controls necessary to deal with a home invasion. The biggest thing people need to remember is IT'S JUST PIXELS. You're not in any real danger. It is annoying, but you can deal with them easily. I know SL is an immersive experience but don't get so far in that you lose sight of reality. The Internet in general brings out the worst in some people. That doesn't change because it's SL.

From: Lindal Kidd I'm with Iyoba and Zerok. They can't even muss the sheets, so what's the harm?
I'd've invited the guy to sit and chat and given him a cup of tea.
On the other hand, if he'd proved to be a boor (like the guy that shot me while I was having a conversation with him and his companion), there's always Freeze/Taunt/Eject/Ban. Yes - but I'll wager that if you wandered into someone's property just exploring around and they asked you what you were doing there and then asked you to leave, you would do so politely and immediately. Iyoba seems to think she's entitled to go where she is clearly unwanted and spit in the face of the landowners. I'm all for people being able to explore, and I hate banlines, but people like that make it impossible for people like us who just want to see cool stuff and don't want to go where we are unwanted.

From: Chris Norse Thank God for banlines. They nip this problem in the bud. Now, you know better then to even mention banlines as some here will hyper-ventilate and get hives all over themselves just seeing the words in print.

I do agree with you on this but sometimes it just feels real. I was at home one day in the front yard watching the waves come in and I noticed that someone had entered into the back door. I just thought I would go inside and say hello. My AV is only 5 years old and I came up the the front glass doors. I opened the door and said hewwo. This person then proceeded with out any reply, pulled out a gun and shot me. I was pushed into the next region. I was so shaken and shocked. I immediatly TPed back to my house and the person was still there. I froze them and told them I could not believe they would shot a 5 year girl and I thought about ARing them. I was still just shaking. I then ejected them and banned them. Some people ... I still dont understand them. I know its still pixels .. but that experience seemed to real. Meg

Just to update you all, my experience last night is not the only one in the area where I live...While I was in the skybox explaining the reason for the rat trap on the floor to my fiancee, the group chat was alive and full of reports from other tenants of intruders being in their homes...Later one of these intruders then put a message up in another group chat box, saying that he was looking for good areas of rented property to look at, guess that is one way of finding out where the good property sims are, where he can go and cause more trouble...

From: Lillith Hapmouche ... But I wondered about another aspect for quite some time now - how do those newbie visitors end up at private homes after all? Some are hardly able to use movement control, have no clue about chatting, but they manage to pull up the map, find a place which might not be even listed in search, but hidding high up in the sky, and TP over? Ehrrr? Yes. Thats happens a lot too. As does flying along the public road and crossing a sim boundary that borks. I've ended up at all sorts of grid coordinates at times when this happens, with a building rezzing around me. I've got a self-pusher so I jump out as quick as I can. If I do end up in your house one day and show up on your log my apologies k it wasnt intentional. And if your guard boots me before I can jump away myself then thats kool.
