So I was seeing this guy for a few weeks maybe, he was fairly new to Secondlife, a couple months. Anyway he had some slaves and a few women on the side that he supposedly dumped for me. Now he is a very jealous guy and I guess likes to have women on a short leash, that is how it looked to me. A few days later I came back on and finding him on the map he was looking for another slave (yes he did acquire one). I had helped him out by getting him a skin and hairs and some nice non-freebie clothing...money I will never see again regrettably. Anyway, things were going ok or so it seemed and I decided to go to Laguna, my favourite beach, although it is a nude beach I still went in a bikini and sarong and chatted with some of the residents around. He tped in and I was still chatting with residents in local chat, and then he started walking around. Then just stood there looking at me for a few minutes not saying a word in open chat or IM and left..last words were...Have fun...I'm done.

This might not be funny to others but it sure as heck was to me..I have had some weird breakups but this was the weirdest one. He didn't want me talking to other men but he was allowed to have a slave. Some people are just too funny.

You've never before been exposed to this double standard? You have led a sheltered life.

Was this the same guy that wrote bad things about you in his profile back on 7/29/09 or is this a different jerk?

I don't see it as "funny, haha," but more as "funny, huh/strange."

Because yes, those double standards exist in RL. In high school, I saw this kind of thing happening more often than not. The guy would claimed to have dumped the other girls for what he claimed was the "love of his life." When the "love of his life" was seen talking to some male friends, he got really.. aggressive. Turns out, he still had all the other girls and just didn't like ANY of them talking to other guys. Needless to say, his love life sudden took one heck of a nose dive. And stayed that way until he moved away.

But, hey, if you took some strange glee outta this, then I say you'd already gotten over him. Sometimes, that happens and without you fully realizing.

This! After two years with my partner, I am still grieving the loss of our relationship. Plus our family's beloved dog lost his 9-month battle with Inflammatory Bowel Disease last week - and my medical condition is such that I am not supposed to have much stress in my life.

I did not find this post in the least funny and shows the difference between people who are in SL for the lulz and those of us who pour real emotions into a relationship. Which is seriously making me reconsider SL as a medium for me at all since my main interests are academic, learning, teaching and not seeing what a "sexy avatar" I can have or what insipid animations scantily clad AVs are doing.

I'm trying to restrain myself from advising my ex to go visit an escort service since that seemed to be his main concern, even after all the "I think you are such a fascinating person I would want to be with you even with no intimacy." Once I realized his wife had no knowledge of the level of our relationship (assured by him initially she did and was "just fine" with it) AND when it began hurting my conscience...amazing how quickly he began "slip-sliding" away.

One thing I discovered - often the most seemingly gentlemanly, sweet types pack the most hurtful punches, metaphorically speaking.) I think now I'd just rather encounter an up front jerk so I know from the get-go what I am dealing with.

(And for the record, not that anyone cares, I've "retired" Czari for now...it is just too painful to take her into SL more than to do a bit of business.)

Learned a couple rl lessons the hard way, maybe it will help others in rl or in sl.

1. The aggressive, jealous guys are nearly always cheaters. It's called projection.

2. Actions speak louder than words. The guys with the smooth rap are usually liars and yes, it will hurt worse in the end when they reveal their true nature, if you believed them.

3. "You have to be with someone through every season in order to know them" yet a lot of people jump into things too quickly. If the person does like you they will wait or let things progress naturally and slowly.

Did you mean that metaphorically, or did he really prefer short (as in, not very long) leashes? Seems you can buy just about anything on the grid these days.

* * * * *

I'll risk a story from a few years ago...

My old, old circa 2001 computer next to me in the office here can baaarely run SL. Framerate is about .5 per second, or worse... it's my ultra emergency backup machine. So I would find my character pretty much frozen, but if I just wanted to talk, it was possible.

Well, one day I'm talking and can't move, and a friend of mine says "Hey, I can just pull you your character around so you don't have to walk." Okay, sure, whatever... and yep, regardless of the junk on my screen she was able to pull Des along quite easily.

Eventually someone walks up, practically faints at the sight of this (not knowing the 'why' of it) and says something to the effect of "OMG land baron on a leash!"

To which my friend replied: "Get yer own..."

This.

You want to experience a fast breakup?

Tell your white boyfriend that your "first" was a black guy. That usually sends them running for the hills faster than Casper and ends all chances of getting a call back.

And you are a stalker!

I broke up with you in Mid-2004 and you are still torch holding like the Statue of Liberty.

Get a life. Stop thinking about me. Stop stalking me on the web.

LOL Angel you are so funny. It is so SAD that after 5 years you are still butt-hurt and angry that the only person who ever accepted you or loved you in SL rejected you after all your freaked out madness.

Sorry babe, you're a loser who is pregnant with hatred - good luck!

ETA: Oh that was a nice dog & girl forum avatar you chose. Too bad no one cared.
