Strip club on PG land close to mine

I'm hoping to get some advice on what to do about this new situation. I bought a 512 plot on PG land, assuming my visitors would not be exposed to so-called mature activities against their will.

Overnight, a large placard has appeared offering 'escort' services (ie: prostitution) and a short distance away there is now a very large strip club.

Are the owners of these things infringing SL terms of service?

I believe that is a Community Standards violation and is AR-able. Go ahead and report them.

If the structure itself is also on PG land, then I think you can AR the person.

But if the structure is in another Sim which is mature rated, then I think only you can talk and try to find a solution (a screeen to your side or something).

Adult material should not be on public display in a PG sim. It wouldn't bother me, but if you bought PG to avoid that sort of thing I think you should AR them, you have the right not to be exposed to material you or your guests might find offensive.

What is AR? Abuse Report? How do I do it? (I'm quite new here).

The strip club is on PG land: Stratus (15, 230, 54)

Yes AR is Abuse Report. You will find it in the Help-menu.

Make it detailed and clear. Keep it friendly and add a snapshot to it.

Pretty daft thing to do, open a strip club on PG land. You should AR them for downright stupidity.

You can file an AR via the support button on your toolbar, right at the bottom. Or you could click on the strip club itself and and click 'more' on the pie chart, which then gives you the option report abuse. This saves having to type in the name of the abuser, etc.

AR..... it's actually listed in places as a stripclub as well :D
Just had a look, and although there's not visible mature content on the outside, the windows would give you a pretty good view of what's going on inside.
Dumb, dumb, dumb.

OT: i'm having a great time hopping around the world btw... just keep the locations coming :D

And while wondering around... also found a huge ad in the same region for another escort strip club.
Edit: make that several ads......

The strip club was built by a regular poster here, Mr Bamboo himself!

Did you know the club was destined for a PG area?

Mr Bamboo probably built it as a club, rather than specifically a 'strip' club, I'm sure he's got a contract stating he can't be held responsible for improper usage of his builds :P

It's got to be the land owners responsibility. No way can a content creator be held responsible for their product being bought and set in an unsuitable position ... but a question springs to mind .. can said content creator reclaim/reposess such content? .. on their own initiative I mean.

Oh, I'm quite sure you're right, Dekka. It looks very much like a general-purpose club.

I shouldn't think this is possible. Once you've sold something, you've transferred ownership. I suppose you could buy it back, but why would you? Nobody can balme you for how something is used, unless you've created something designed to abuse, thati s.

another AR for the LL paper shredder
09-11-2007 03:59
Good luck on that AR, but judging by the search results you get if you uncheck "include parcels with mature content" and then type "porn" into the search window, I think "PG" rules are rather like the event rules now.

IE totally ignored and not enforced at all by LL

Gotta laugh at the "Porn movie theater" which according to my search parameter does not include any mature content......

Actually, I think this one would be acted on, given that inappropriate content seems to be a hot issue on the police blotter. And I'm also pretty sure i read an office hours / town hall meeting transcript where a Linden said adult content in a PG sim was a big no-no. All in the context of the broadly offensive thing.
The AR would not be about search, but rather about the club being in a PG sim. Search is a joke anyway IMHO.

the line is blurred now(even more than it was already), you can now own a plot in a PG sim and tick the "mature content" box in your land settings.

Does this mean you have made your parcel "mature" in a sim which is otherwise "PG"?

Or is that check box there for no reason at all?

Well the owner of this club hasn't clicked that box, so he's got that one wrong as well :)
Seems strange to have a mature content option in a PG sim btw. Hadn't noticed that before.

I've got a similar situation near my land. However there's nothing overtly offensive with the outside of the building although it's clear what happens inside. I make it clear in my PG rentals that the area is not suitable for adult businesses so if my tenants complain I'll AR it but I'd have to venture inside to see the non PG material.

OK, I have submitted an abuse report.

As the club is beyond the conventional draw distance from my land, I don't consider it a major problem.

I'm more irritated by the Escorts Unlimited ad, which is 70 m high, and unavoidable. I suppose I might have to find a way to screen it, but it is so close my screen would have to be 60 m itself.

I think that box is there for Mature land and the fact it doesnt grey out for PG land is some oversight.

Hey as long as the strippers wear bikinis and the escorts only play paddycake, its all good.
