They say these are 8-core servers...
So, back to my original question, "Enterprise Edition Server" just means a server that runs SL Enterprise Edition?
Or is there something else to that term?

It probably means "a modern professionally built server from HP or IBM instead of the three year old white boxes we run your sims on".

Rock? Where did you find the info on that US$14K annual license fee? I can't seem to fond that anywhere in the official press releases or Blogs or FAQs. That is roughly half what the tier would be on eight class 5 sims on the main grid. But since initial setup is more, it will take several years to break even. Hi Ceera, the US$14K was mentioned by Mark at the conference. Dusan Writer also reported it in his blog, http://dusanwriter.com/index.php/2009/11/04/sleek-second-life-enterprise-and-what-it-isnt/#more-1525 Look under 'God Powers'. However, it was not clear at the conference if the annual US$14K was a compulsory license fee, for which their customers get useage rights, software maintenance, support and updates, and access to the Marketplace and access to those ready-made business regions for download, or whether it was optional.
