Fun, enjoyment, helping others learn, learning myself, and good conversation...

My score = my happiness

I've won the bonus level when I can take something I learned here that applies to RL, especially when I learn something about myself.

The only way to win is by not playing :p

Seriously though, SL is entertainment to me, if I come to SL and I am entertained, then I win.

I think the img-tagged picture in the quoted post is offensive to pretty much everyone--but it was url-tagged in your post, so you can't really fix it anyway.

Probably, because the forums are supposed to be SFW, even the url link should have had some warning, but FWIW, I don't think it's a big deal, personally--especially now that we've all been scarred for life. ;)

OK, the other strange accoutrements aside, I am really curious about that device on dude's Mr. Happy... I wonder what that does exactly and where someone might purchase such a device...

(Don't judge me, I'm between girlfriends :D)

I'd say the win is finding out what really satisfies you, and then doing it really well. I cite my garden, (which includes the people in it :)))

Since new is the winning for me, if I can manage to not think about the company behind SL and to not read the bigot announcements in their blog. Especially since they are featuring dealers of the death, while moving joy and fun into ghetto's. I wonder, how that fits to their "TAO".

Anyways, - as said - this to forget and to play my thing, is then "winning".

I was in the Second Life credits in Help > About Second Life for a few client versions under Special Thanks. I figured I won then.

Heh, for some reason they listed my name twice. I have no idea what that means.

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

For me, the winning OF Second Life is more the winning IN Second Life. And each time I won, I set myself new goals.

After a few months I started up my first business. Making tier for the land it was on, was my first objective. And I won that one. So I expanded it, and with each expansion, I managed to win. At least, for the goal I set.

For my second business, I thought a homestead would be perfect. Together with my initial business, it would have to make at least the rent for this homestead, and I managed that easily. So my next goal was cashing out a certain amount each month. And yes, managed that as well.

My third business was a lucky shot: Found out that I store I frequented, was up for sale, and jumped in. The objective of making it profitable was very easy, so that was hardly a win.

Now I have that homestead, 4 double prim 1024 m2 parcels of Zindra land, and 3 businesses. And running profitable. But I still feel my businesses can do better, so I set myself new goals. So in fact I never won, I simply passed stations.

Conclusion? For me there is no way I can win SL. Yes I can be successful in my business, and to a certain degree I am. But I am sure that when I cannot set myself new goals anymore, I would loose interest. So the only way to win, probably is not to loose. Not to get to the point where there are no more challenges. Makes any sense?

I have had goals, and the goals I have set for myself in SL keep changing. Constantly. Any "win" from today may fade quickly tomorrow. But yes, there are some aspects of "winning" or reaching goals I can speak to:

1) Happiness in the SL romance department. I will never take any SL romance for granted, neither for my friends nor myself, having witnessed the the fickle nature of love in SL (or even love proclaimed to be "RL";). Nonetheless, having reached a 1-year partnership anniversary has been milestone for me.

2) I've owned a club of one kind or another for the majority of my time in SL. In the past I set forth goals of "winning" which included either average daily traffic, or level of group membership. That "win" changed again when I discovered that while it was possible to "win" in one of those metrics, such a win would lead to a "loss", primarily a loss of lindens, sanity, or the luxury of time. So, that was totally redefined and the concept of "winning" there has shifted to a more vague, less defined goals.

3) Earning enough lindens through a combination of rentals and product sales to completely cover tier plus cover expenses and "fun" money in SL. That would be a fairly big win. Not there yet but seeing it's something that something that could be within reach with lots of hard work and luck.

4) Developing real, healthy, friendships that I value as strongly as I would any RL friendship. Hit and miss here. Have made some great friends, sadly lost a couple due to the drama godz, and lately finding my introverted self emerging more and more in SL (manifesting as the "too busy to chat, I'm building" mentality).

Edited to add:

5) Finding *balance* in SL among all activities, friends, friends lists, etc. etc. so that all set forth goals are possible -- without causing a huge train wreck within SL, creating drama, or causing a huge train wreck in RL.

I would think a nice pay out would be "winning" as no one is what they seem here.self claimed "RL hot girls" for some reason never have a mic.....or use any cam program..seems Hot Girls have tech issues in RL...... and RL girls that do use mics and cams tend to never be what I think they are going to be when I see or hear them. All male friends seems to have 6 digi RL jobs and wash board abbs..thow they only have 1 image of them selfs and never seem to be able to update such things.....oh they always need a loan to as their gold card seems to be having issue or they fear the PHD RL status will be harmed by leaving any paper trails to SL.....
Yuppers in the end,I say good pay out for the win!!
