It's a matter of intent. If you try to kill someone and you fail are you off the hook? Nope. It's attempted murder. What if you kill the wrong person due to a typo? Nope. It's still murder.

In this case the OP's intent was intended to slander another resident by naming their name.

The OP, having had the specific portion of the forum rules forbidding the naming of names quoted to them has edited their first post to remove the name, but is unable to change the title of the thread, which contains the name of the person who wasn't to be named in the first place...

This is because the universe has engaged in a vast conspiracy to prevent the OP from having the magical time-travelling undo-mistake-machine which would allow them to go back in time and undo the mistake which was never their fault to begin with as the keys had mysteriously typed themselves...

Meanwhile... Timmy is still trapped in the well... Ava has pepper-sprayed Elex... and a choir of lolcats has descended upon Gloversville, New York, for the best gosh darn cheezeburgers EVEH!

Errr... this will most likely make Ava even hawter... but, it wasn't about sticking up for you personally. It had nothing to do with taking sides, but was simply an attempt to extinguish the flames of a "warning" thread.

It's a good example of why warning threads are bad:

* It failed to describe the situation in enough detail for anyone to draw any conclusions about the transaction and why it might have gone south.

* It broke the "naming names" forum rule

* The OP quoted a rule from the Community Standards which had nothing to do with forum posting

* The title of the thread cannot be changed

* A perfectly good foil hat is now damaged

I hate to admit it but that was pretty much what I was gonna say. When people start off athread with half baked accusations that don't detail the alleged offense, they tend to die slow and painful deaths. Nothing personal, but I'm sure no one gave a crap about you....
