Uh Sunspot,

There absolutely was no reference to you. There are many others with the initials S.P. and as far as I know you do not have a group in world to eliminate ugly buildings nor did you recently create a thread promoting L$1 t-shirts.

You might want to look at the posts a little more closely in the future. Sorry for the confusion.

Well, I wouldn't say "many", But yes, I just got to the part now about the one dollar t-shirts.

So, my apologies for assuming. Given the fact that I have tangled with yas before on this issue, and the initials, well, maybe you can see where I may have thought that. Or maybe not.

Again, sorry for that, I'll edit my above post to reflect as such.

Well this post is edited because I made an error and thought this "SP" must be me. Sorry for that.

I am going to leave one bit of the spirit this post behind --

By circling the wagons and then firing up the belittling the way you guys do every time this subject comes up, you sure don't help your case.

Perhaps, but that is what a group of friends do, they defend each other. Granted it can be a bit overdone at times. And I will admit, in hindsight, posting initials was not the best idea.

Apologies to all with those initials.

um ... I'm a tad bit confused .. this is a self fulfilling prophesy.

If someone goes and complains that the forums are a clique and a lot of the regular posters are trolls, if they respond at all they are going to be accused of circling the wagons.

If people hadn't responded then others would have claimed no one said anything because everyone knew it was true.

---------

Evidently you yourself wrote a defensive post because you thought SP was you? That you have retracted?

Those others who *were* named were not entitled to the same?

---------

If someone attacks forums posters others see as good contributers its only natural there will be some defensive posts.

Its just the nature of the medium.

I'm his TA - I'll be having study sessions outside of class to prep people for the final...

Ah, hell with it. That's Chris' schtick. Just send dirty pictures.

Seriously - nobody, and I mean NOBODY derails a thread like me. I'm not good for anything much at all, but I can derail a thread like nobody's business. The fact that there have been no ad hominem attacks against me, while people like Raymond and Oryx have been attacked is one of the most personally offensive things I have endured since breakfast when the waitress suggested I have a small bowl of fruit and lay off the bacon for a while...maybe get some exercise.

I have one skill in life, folks - how about a little negativity directed my way?

I think that a better approach would be to continue posting but not respond to sniping and rudeness in kind.
That's easily said. It takes a lot of self-discipline. :)

If you really want to get under the skin of some pig, be polite to them. It drives them mad. They want mud-wrestling.

Politeness in the face of rudeness is not submissiveness. It's a weapon.

I'd like to add the quote: "Rudeness is a weak person's imitiation of strength."

It's impossible. You are just too lovable. The only negativity I can associate with you is how boring the forum feels when you are not posting.

If it had actually happened, I would have ordered the fruit and an entire bottle of syrup.

Actually, I worked in Tacoma, WA for a number of years. There was this strange Mexican restaurant downtown. The food was excellent, but the people who worked there were...eccentric. The guys were mostly cross dressers, and they occasionally burst into song. They would flirt mercilessly with the male customers. Frankly, I found it marvelously entertaining to watch the reactions of middle-aged businessmen who stopped in for lunch, but that's beside the point. I went there with a buddy from work, and one of the waiters took a strong interest in him. He ordered a Coke, and the waiter looked very sad and sort of coo'ed at him, "Oh, no, no. You too fat. You get Diet. Make you thin and pretty." Then flat out refused to bring him a regular Coke.

I am not making this up. It was one of the most hysterically funny things I have ever seen in my life.

You live an interesting life, Trout. And I, personally, enjoy most of your thread derailments. They make me laugh which is never a bad thing.

No, no, no. I'm an evil, horrible thread de-railer! I detract from people's enjoyment of the forums and I throw feces around like monkeys in the zoo. I'm the kiss of death to good, insightful commentary. I'm easily as evil as Alicia, Oryx and Raymond. There was someone else listed, whose name escapes me at the moment, but I'm just as awful as he or she is as well. Look - I may be a noob compared to people like them, but I'm much more ignorant, loutish, and obnoxious. I'm tired of the veterans getting all the credit for impropriety. Wait! I'm too stupid to use words like "impropriety". Ummm... "bad acting stuff".

((secretly, thanks, Sunni - I try to answer questions when I can and not derail threads that haven't already run their course. I'm glad someone gets some enjoyment out of my ramblings))

Right! Sorry. I'm Soooooo much more evil than Bradley. Seriously. I'm a monster compared to him. I actually saw him complain about thread derailing once. In fact, he's asked us to police ourselves in the absence of a moderator, while I favor complete anarchy and flaming wars coupled with mandatory lists of the people we hate in our signatures. In fact, I believe we should split into cliques and then have big gang wars over our turf. Bradley can't hold a candle to my evilness.

Seriously - put me on the list! I want to be one of the cool kids!

I'll share my bacon with you. I was going to make a pork joke, but it seemed inappropriate.

So, questioning whether his was real or not? Think you might not have done the job? Welcome to our life. Even if you're pretty sure you got it right, there's always that little question in the back of our heads - did she? was I good enough? In RL, for women, there's a pretty obvious result that lets you know he wasn't faking. Being a guy is hard work. If it weren't for all the other perks, like owning land and having the right to vote, it wouldn't be worth it at all.

Wait a minute.

Oh, damn.

If you were truly evil, you wouldn't ask, you would just put your diabolical plan into action. Sorry, you are nothing but a sweet fuzzy ball of freshwater fish.

Wow! This thread has well over 300 posts in it! I don't have time to read it all, but it might be important. Could someone summarize it in 20 words or fewer for me? Thanks ever so much. :)

Synopsis:

Resident Answers sure feels like General Chat. Some people are too mean. Some people are too sensitive. Will it get shut down? Some people think it will. Some people think it wont. There are many cliques here. Really there is only one. Really there are many. Lots of help goes on here, and shouldn't be drowned out by debate. Lots of debate goes on here, and shouldn't be drowned out by help. Lets all just have sex.

How's that? :D
