I'd just like to note, since that viewer did work for you. Most likely if you delete the stuff in appdata folder there others will too. Just becuase one of the diferences in that viewer is that it does not store it's stuff in that folder.

Also I am glad it is working for you now :)

Did you try rebooting your computer? I had GIMP fail to completely close once on me and it messed up my SL.

Yep I second that, try a full "pull the plug out of the wall"reboot as I've seen a few buggs the keyboard "power off"'s haven't fixed, solved by unplugging it for a couple of minutes.

3, try this viewer:

http://www.armyof4.com/Kirstenlee/

It installs on your desktop and does not write anything to your register, etc. Choose the
1-20-13-91224-s7.exe link.

I have had great luck with this viewer.

Fascinating. This one seems to fix the persistent VWR-7072 which causes me to enjoy .3 FPS in most places around SL.

Many thanks for solving a problem you most likely haven't even been aware of, Mac! :)

:(

i was using it earlier. suddenly, the screen comes up minimized really small. stays black. says (Not Responding). must use task manager to get it off the desktop.

already uninstalled, deleted and then redownloaded. it remembered and is behaving exactly the same way.

i was inworld. then i used some photoshop. when i went to relog, it just quit working. i did NOTHING in between, except maybe a restart of computer.

oh. and i already did a system restore to July 12. that didn't help either. :(

I experienced exactly the same thing a few months back with the previous RC. I would have a small black SL window open on my desktop and I had to open task manager in order to close it. I discovered a very simple fix. The nano-second the window opened you need to click the maximise button. a second later and the maximise button wont work and will be greyed out. So you almost need to know where that maximise button will be before the window opened and be clicking that spot repeatedly to ensure that you click the maximise button the instant the window appers. Once you've done that then the window will maximise and the login screen will appear.

The problem was caused by closing the viewer when it was minimised as a small window and it happened to me everytime with that version of the RC. Close the viewer when it was full screen and no problemo. Subsequently I changed to a newer pre release viewer a few days later and have never seen the same problem.

Actually isn't there an option that you can uncheck in the viewer menu bar that does or does not show that when run SL? I forget what it was but about 4 months ago it happened to me now that I think about it. After I unchecked whatever I did it was fine. Anyone have a clue what I am talking about? cuz I half do maybe?

When you uninstalled/reinstalled, did you manually delete the cache folder?

no. i actually didn't even know any of those files existed until last night.

i'm going to try two thigns today, while i wait for my support ticket to process.

i'm going to try the maximze tip noted above, and if that doesn't work, i'll uninstall/delete SL again, and remove ALL those folders you mention (that i found last night) and then redownload/install SL.

in the meantime, i can use that Kirsten viewer. it seems to work pretty good - or better - cuz the lag is greatly diminshed, comparatively.

Cool! I am glad it worked. Up until now I assumed it was a problem local to my machine. Good to hear that others have felt my pain :)

you can't use it for building. when you click on a specific item, the camera constantly jumps around from close up to far away, then back to close up. other than that, it seems to work like a charm.
