You also need to manually delete the SecondLife folder in application data, if you have not already done so. This does not get deleted and replaced during an uninstall/install cycle. There are files in that folder that can become corrupted and interfere with SL running.

it's just so wierd. one minute it is working perfectly fine, then suddenly it is dead. this is bad. i own a lot of land and have a lot of tenants.

EDIT: The post above me ^_^ I was under the impression you had done that.
Seeing as you are on vista, your hidden files would be at C:\users\YOURUSERNAME\appdata\roaming\second life\

also, the appdata folder is hidden, you need to go to tools > folder options > view tab > Show hidden files and folders in your computer browser to see them.

You might want to make a shortcut to that folder so you can find it easily the next time.

Also, if you use the regular SL client, you could try the Release Candidate, and vice versa.

Yes, you need to delete everything that has something to do with SL. For these purposes I usually use CCleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com/

Use the first (Ccleaner) and second (Registry) option.

We already told her how to delete everything. I would recomend not downloading any programs.

i'm here (3Ring). with my main account.

i'm in a live chat. and you know what? even my "documents and setting" files are hidden, and i can't figure out how to show hidden files.

edit: found out how to show hidden files. it was as stated above... not in browser... in control panel.

also, i've been given permission to give all the info from the live chat and other help... so that's cool.

The picture you posted is exactly what you'd see if you used the 'little arrows' to make it smaller.... I hate to ask but did you use them to make it bigger again?

SO....

i've heard all this complaining about Live Chat help. JohnN was PATIENT with me, helpful, went above and beyond to make sure i was able to locate the files needed to send in a support ticket... he even filed the support ticket for me. Gentlemanly, and did i say patient? and never once did he concur that i was stupid, or asked stupid questions. i couldn't even sense him rolling his eyes. can you special request live chat helpers? if so, this is the guy you want!

GIVE THAT BOY A RAISE!

I had to get my log files and a copy of dxdiag to them. i dunno what's going to happen yet.

anyway, no solutions yet. i'll update the thread when it all gets worked out, so if someone in the future has this issue, they can fix it without so much trouble. *sigh*
