NOOOOOO!!!!!!! Suddenly my SL doesn't work anymore!

i was using it earlier. suddenly, the screen comes up minimized really small. stays black. says (Not Responding). must use task manager to get it off the desktop.

already uninstalled, deleted and then redownloaded. it remembered and is behaving exactly the same way.

i was inworld. then i used some photoshop. when i went to relog, it just quit working. i did NOTHING in between, except maybe a restart of computer.

oh. and i already did a system restore to July 12. that didn't help either.

Could be a hardware problem, try running some other OpenGL games?

Did you write that in blood? o.O

Jeez, I'd get a Mac.

I am afraid I can't offer any more insight then what Dante suggests.

Possible OpenGL issue. Try re downloading the vid drivers, 3.

just updated drivers. no good.



i absolutely cannot open Second Life now. how will i run my mall?

i checked out the Nicholaz viewer, but i am ignorant with how to do it. it's some wierd code stuff and i haven't first clue how to make sense of it.

i don't know what to do now. i am beyond stumped. this sux.

Did you try rebooting your computer? I had GIMP fail to completely close once on me and it messed up my SL.

You would be emailed, also second life would work just fine. At login you would get one of a few messages: This account cannot access second life at this time, this computer can not access second life etc etc

All you really have to do with Nicholaz is drag a few things into the SL program files and then create a new shortcut to his executable file. I don't know if it would help though.

If you've manually searched and deleted the extra SL files uninstall doesn't get, maybe try running a registry cleaner?

Most all the links for the free games there are outdated and dead.


Try opening your screensavers and choosing one of the 3-D ones. Preview it and see what happens.

ok, i repaired 598 registry issues.... but that didn't help my SL.

Matrix 3D is cool! and i could play that space invaders game. so it's not my drivers?

Try running sl with a console, see what errors you get. Would be a lot easier if you were on linux

how do i go about such a task? what do i have to click to get that option?

you know how you can take a window and use the arrows to make it smaller? in retrospect, i did make it really tiny on purpose so i could see around it while it was logging in. i moved the arrows REALLY FAST... maybe i borked it somehow.

To show a console, add:
--console 1
To the end of the path in your shortcut propertes.

Out of all your options this is the most helpful.

Please post the output a good deal before the error and I'll see what I can see in it.

first thing that happens is a little window pops up asking me if i want to send a crash report. funny.... i uninstalled and deleted SL from my puter, then redownloaded... and it remembered that i had crashed.

is that what you are wanting to know?

The console is a little black dos-like window. It would show everything sl does, debug stuff, errors warnings etc.

Unfortunatly it looks like sl is crashing before it even creates that window. Not much to go off of there

If you are on windows, right click the second life shortcut on your desktop (or wherever you have it) Pick Properties.

In the "Target" or "Path" textbox, scroll completely to the end of the text end add a space then "--console 1" (thats 2 dashes there btw)

Then double click the shortcut to open secondlife like normal.

A black window should open and output a lot of text. thats what I am talking about.

EDIT: seems you did it right, I did not see the image at first.

ok, that's exactly what i did. that's what the picture is showing you.

all that happens though, is SL opens in that little tiny window that is also shown in the same screenshot... always after requesting a crash report.

Well I saw the image now. Not sure whats wrong with your sl. If you can't get any information on whats wrong through second lifes debug features I'm not sure what to tell you.

it's just so wierd. one minute it is working perfectly fine, then suddenly it is dead. this is bad. i own a lot of land and have a lot of tenants.
