From: Taylor Lubezki You can always do stuff such as deleteing all the duplicate landmarks.. If you tend to shop at the same places a lot and they put a LM in each package they add up.. Search for say Main, Store etc and see how many dups you have.. Forgot to mention this in my other post, thanks for reminding me First thing I do when I purchase an item or get a freebie, etc. is RIGHT THEN, BEFORE I LEAVE THE STORE, I take a moment and delete the lm, sometimes the hovertext script, scan the notecard to see if it is something I want to keep or not and delete it if not. Those 3 things alone can add up FAST. WARNING: Another plug for the wonderful Mystitool - lm's that I use a lot I stick in my Mysti so they NEVER have to be in my inventory. If someone wants a lm to that place, I just edit the Mysti and pluck out a copy to give. I read that one person had every lm in their Mysti - something into the thousands. I just keep the ones I go to over and over. Another inventory bloater imo is calling cards. I know some people use them for group invites and such, organize them into categories, etc. but I prefer to work from my friends list and I ditch all those too.

If I've bought from a store, I can always right click on an item from that store to see the profile of the creator, and his/her picks. Seems like stores move around so often, it's easier to track them through the creators rather than the landmarks.

From: Tarina Sewell I wish there was a way to find duplicate textures, just named differently.. I have a lot of that stuff.. I researched texture organizers before deciding on the Lestat's Texture Organizer by Lestat Llewelyn (lm to shop can be found in his profile). I am in LOVE with this organizer. It comes with an external organizer or HUD version. The external is a bit primmy so I use the HUD and it is sooo simple. I purchased the version with 50 different categories. Now here's the really cool thing - it has a "Dupe Finder" - so now I just put new textures into the right category, run the dupe finder and it's amazing how many duplicates have been cut down. Not sure if it does that for the entire organizer at once globally or each category, but either way, it is WONDERFUL!!!!

http://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=5318I have these and they are awesome! They're only one prim and they store so much stuff. In addition, since they are copyable you can have one for each category (One for clothes, one for shoes, etc). After you put stuff in there, you can navigate the items while clicking on the arrows (instructional notecard included). I know you only have a tiny inventory, but it is never to early to get an organization system going (especially for notecards, LMs and Clothes).

They're actually 3 prims each, but still a bargain prim-wise for what all they can store. I keep mine rezzed in world and posted awhile back that one of them poofed from my house. (The third time rezzed items in my house did that and no they weren't set to a group someone could have taken them, no they're not at the 0,0,0 spot on my sim...I searched high and low, put in a ticket and talked to live chat.) The bad thing was...the one that poofed had all the duplicates of avatar items with copy perms (clothes, skins, shapes, hair) and stored other non-copy items I only used seasonally. All gone. But yes...another one of my MUST HAVES!!

Awww That might have been because of a sim rollback (is that the right one... where they go back to a certain date and anything rezzed after that date goes bye bye?). I would go further to suggest that you send a copy of copy/trans items to a trust account alt for those just in case moments. Or for when LL decides that you really didn't need those shoes...or skirts..or hair... (I'm gonna stop before I scare everyone lol).

OK, everyone's been waiting to see how much junk I've accumulated in 2 years I won't keep you in suspense any longer! 3,585 items! I regularly clear out unwanted stuff. I don't shop a lot but I have made a lot of my own stuff. I do keep some older items stored in prim 'invoboxes', so the real total is probably a few hundred more, but still probably under 4,000. My total even includes a lot of my favourite oufits in quick-change folders that contain everything including shape and hairstyle. I'm amazed at how economically I live!

Thanks, Ericka I was just sick about losing that particular THinC box. It wasn't due to a sim rollback...it just poofed. A few weeks earlier a couple pieces of furniture and a Pillow Talk pillow disappeared the same way, but both of those I could replace. I live on the mainland and when I posted about this originally, someone who also lives on the mainland said she talked to live help and had the sim rolled back and got her items retrieved. I tried that and was told that LL NEVER rolls back mainland because it affects other people. (Also received an answer to my support ticket saying the same thing.) So now I'm DEFINITELY sending copies of everything that's of any value to me that I can to an alt. Once burned and all that

I guess thats the good thing about being a tiny... we don't have to keep up with the human fashion (well except when I have to go human for Master Jewelers Certified and making jewelery). My inventory is at about 10k now but most of that is stuff that could be purged but I don't have the time >.<

I average about 28k to 37k. I hate cleaning my inventory. Good portion of it is textures, clothes, and things I have built or collected. Freebies and gifts though take a big amount. I try to avoid the Freebie places but people keep sending me things.

From: Tarina Sewell lol I hear ya on that, Im at 27k (almost)
I spend about 10 min a day cleaning, but then I spend 1hr a day building new stuff and taking into inventory...
I wish there was a way to find duplicate textures, just named differently.. I have a lot of that stuff..
my inventory is mostly textures, 10% clothing (although most of textures are for clothing) the rest shit named object I forgot to name....Oh wait I have some furniture and stuff, but I don't have many freebie stuff.. and I have a lot of scuplty patterns...animations for building.. and a few gestures.. which I miostly delete cause I just dont use gestures like some people do. And that is not counting what I have boxed and forgotten what was inside.. I could exceed 40k im sure if I emptied those.. someone gave me something for finding dupe stuff, I will see if I can find it and pass it along (if I remember) I think I will make myself spend at least 15 minutes a day, set on busy mode, and just sort through the inventory. In a few years I might get it sorted hehe yep my inventory consists of a lot of items called objects, new note and new script, and snapshot, because I forget to name stuff and a lot of stuff boxed as well I fear if I unpacked everything, it would exceed 100K items easily I really do need to purge, gestures is a good idea, as I never use but maybe 3 or 4 gestures (mainly info gestures)

I really wish there was a way to help organize other people's inventories - like people in RL who are hired to organize homes and offices. I honestly have fun sitting in my SL home weeding/purging/organizing my inventory and would LOVE to figure out a way to turn that into a business.

I have recently installed SLMIV (Second Life My Inventory Viewer). This lets me get an external file of my inventory that I can sort any which way I want to, which makes it easier to find duplicates for deleting. I can also read the notecards, get full properties on the items, search for all items by a specific creator, and even associate an image/url with my list of items. Here is the wiki on it: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/SL_My_Inventory_ViewerYou can download it here: http://code.google.com/p/slmiv/downloads/list And here is the inworld store that created it: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Minoa/56/136/108/?title=SEP.S. -- It is a FREEBIE !!!!

I am SO excited about this (THANK YOU for recommending it!!) however, after I installed and tried to open the program I get this error message: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application." I then unzipped my inventory per the instructions thinking maybe something needed to be in it to open...same messeage. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this? Thanks

If I remember right, there is also a requirement for a certain version of .Net, so maybe that is the issue. That error sounds familiar from when I first installed it, but my memory is lacking at this point.

11-08-2008 10:49
gee I've worked hard at keeping my inventory down to around 20000 and i'm only 5 months old. Unfortunately in the grab frantic freebie days, I lost most of the instructions on what half of this stuff is and I am half afraid to try any of it on or rezz it, in case I mess up I go pffffffftttt. Did that once and spent the next few days looking like Brad Pitt.
I seem wholly incapable of sorting my inventory into any meaningful order and wish like someone else said, someone else would do it.
By the time I've found that loveheart animation the girl of my dreams has walked on by...............mmmmmwwwwaaah

I managed to keep my 2 mains at around 8000 after 2 years, regular deleting and giving stuff away if you're not using it is the go. I rarely have any problems with login , TP etc, maybe it's related.
