I often wonder what means these tough characters will adopt in order to administer an ass kicking to me, on the off chance that I look at them funny or something. Maybe there's a store doing a roaring trade in ass-kicking anims, rather like hugs *blue popup box in top right corner* 'Don't *bleep* with me or my babe', an object owned by CyberWarrior1234 Tosspiece would like to Kick your Ass Animate your avatar? Madhu, I know where you are coming from. I am in Goa, and used to have this info in my profile. So I get asked, "are you Indian?" No (not that there is anything wrong with being Indian, you understand). Then I get "well, if you're not Indian what are you doing in India?" Then I feel I have to explain what I am doing here. Not that there's anything sinister about it, it's just where I choose to be at this moment in time. I've taken that out now.

I think it would be funny if we could see what other people write about you in your 'notes' tab. Maybe the Lindens could cause a 'bug' that revealed those.

Are Belgian prostitutes notable for their tartiness? Indeed. You have no clue, guy. |

Indeed. You have no clue, guy. Well, I freely confess to lacking an encyclopaedic knowledge of the tartiness benchmarks per nationality for prostitutes operating within the eurozone, chap. _____________________

I don't doubt it. When I run into new residents one piece of advice I give them is how to read others' profiles and to fill out their own, at least a little. I'm thinking about adding a "tell me you read my profile and I'll give you a free gift" part to the end of my profile just for fun. I seem to remember having done that in the past. Ooooo...like that idea!! My hobby in SL is profile-reading. So much interesting info and I usually find at least one new place or interesting group in a profile that I add to my "To Explore" list. Of course I sometimes find lots of info and groups that make me add that person to "avoid at all costs" list...but that is also informative. ![]() _____________________

I totally agree! It bugs me. It also bugs me when people do not have an updated pic of their av. I met someone the other day and the pic in his profile was an old av. That really bugged me. I've begun something new with my SL profile pic - since I take so many photos in SL (saved to HD then cull out the best ones to bring inworld), I change my profile pic monthly and include the month/year on it. Keeps it fresh and sort of an ongoing "scrap book/photo album" for myself. _____________________

Is there such a thing as "too skanky" in sl? I know I'll probably get ripped for this...but what the heck...I'm living dangerously this morning. ![]() There are types of, shall we say "establishments," I choose not to frequent in RL. I don't care to frequent them in SL as well. Those who choose to do so have every right and I defend that right. One of my things is to try to dress as appropriately as possible for the sims I visit (ie. when I go to IoW I tend to dress in Medieval attire if I'm not wearing a dragon AV; or when I go to clubs I like to dress to suit the ambiance of that club; wear swimwear at the beach, etc.) One of my pet peeves (and this happened recently) is going someplace where the general attire would be casual (it was a VKC dog training session on the beach) and feel like I've arrived at the Annual Meeting of SL Prostitutes. And I'm not just talking the average skimpy SL clothes one commonly sees...but really "out there" attire. Ok, ok, skank types may enjoy training their dogs too but for some reason that just irked me to no end. (I was in a mood anyway due to some RL issues, but regardless...). _____________________

Keeps it fresh and sort of an ongoing "scrap book/photo album" for myself. I've been doing the same thing for the last four years. Its really nice to see how the avatar changes over the years, and like RL, you can look back and think "I actually went out in public looking like THAT?" ![]() _____________________

If they are truly skanky, they would be on the other end of the leash. Rover: "Bark, bow wow, bark." Skanky Barfly sits back on her round heels and begs for a treat. |

I like to keep RL out of it, other than knowing timezone and language preferences. People tend to cluster with those of similar age, nationality, education level, career... I'd have missed out on meeting some amazing people if I advertised my RL here and they followed the typical social conventions. It's interesting that this is the first mention of something - the only thing - I consider really valuable in the FL profile of anyone who is at all interested in socializing: Their time zone. I agree 100% with the rest, too. I am not interested in meeting others like me -- my RL is full of them. |

Many like to see different things. Edit : Just be aware I would say 99% of folks don't seem to bother with reading the profiles... 70% of folks don't seem to bother with writing them, either. The people I'm good friends with have their profile front page filled in...even if its just very basic stuff like RL nationality, married or single...not into casual sex...languages spoken and understood, etc. I often get someone reading my profile and then asking for friendship. I open their profile and its blank. Hmmmm! I hate to be rude and turn them down but I like to know who my potential friend is. *Sigh* Fill in your profile, please. |

I got a friendship offer (before I got a hello) from someone whose profile read "I like sex!" that's all. I left the friendship offer onscreen and let it expire when I logged off. It wasn't even worth explaining why I would decline it. My profile isn't the most descriptive, but at least I know it's more descriptive than *that*. _____________________

I agree 100% with the rest, too. I am not interested in meeting others like me -- my RL is full of them. I figure, I met them inworld while they were online at their own normal time. If we re-visit each other more than a few days in a row. We're bound to have a blast. (^_^) I have had people seek me out by profile and group association before. I'll go inworld to a saved IM saying, "Let's meet someday." I pretty much just respond... "We'll meet if we meet." If we never have the chance to meet, there's always someone else. What would I like to see in a profile...
Pics depends whose profile it is I suppose. - Girls: many nude pics. You may abuse the Picks section for that. Don't be affraid to be too slutty, there is no such thing as too slutty. - Men: Nude pics of your partner, or girls you like and have nude pics of. - Furries: See men. - Other species: See men. - Furthermore I have to agree with the language thing, it's good to see wether you can communicate with someone. - Shop owners should either have a Pick or a classified in their profile, so I can find their shop through their profile. - Some info about what you do in your SL. That might show we have similar interests for example. Real life tab: No pic, or a sexy girl. Either I will not believe that you look so good, or I rather would not have known you look so bad Info on timezone would indeed be nice as well._____________________

The time zone or nationality of the person behind the avatar helps a lot. Then you can work out when they're likely to be online. I've been fortunate in finding several ppl either in the UK or Europe.
Groups on your profile page say a lot about you...if the new person is in the same welcome area group as me we have friends in common. If they're in a group owned by someone I don't get on with, I keep away. |
