Haha, that trick didn't work for me! Instead, after "r u Indian," the next most common question I am asked is "y r u blue?"

I know how he feels. My profile is some generic bit about nothing important. I just never feel the muse when talking about myself. I may be arogant, conceited and vain but I'm not narcissistic .

I always get questions like "y r u following me?" and "do you want me to ban you?"

I absolutely refuse to respond to anyone who asks a question containing " r u..."

I have an idea! Why don't I write something about you and you can just put it in your profile!

I just like to see straightforward information.

I'm not too interested in the RL stuff, except which country someone is from.

Also sometimes someone's SL avatar pic looks totally different from the one in-world at the time. That can be as disconcerting as reading that the little furry white rabbit is really a 54 year-old grandmother from Toronto!!!!

One of my friends changes her first life pic once a week or so. I usually check her profile every few days, just to see what the picture is. One of the reasons I play is to make friends--seeing different snapshots of a person is a nice reminder that there is flesh and blood on the other side of the pixels. In the text on the first life tab she doesn't have anything that most people would consider personal information (she doesn't mention where she lives or if she is in a relationship), but there is usually a line or two about something she finds important or interesting--how her favorite sports team is doing, things like that. In a way, it is far more personal than the typical "statistical" information.

I also like to see "if u mess with XYZ u mess with me." It lets me know very quickly that this person is not to be taken seriously.

I like to keep RL out of it, other than knowing timezone and language preferences.

People tend to cluster with those of similar age, nationality, education level, career... I'd have missed out on meeting some amazing people if I advertised my RL here and they followed the typical social conventions.

I can relate to the both! How does one talk about themselves without appearing to brag or be self indulgent with their information? I always draw a blank when asked to describe myself or fill out any profile. Not to mention it's difficult, at least for me, to supply information about myself without making it feel like I'm answering a survey. Yes, I know...I've already mentioned this.
I would think Trout could come up with a great letter from the Lindens addressed to himself for his profile. That's sure to start up some interesting conversations.

I like to see just how many kinky fetishes and sexual positions the person enjoys, as well as pictures of their SL avatar tarted up like some Belgian prostitute and in a suggestive, come-hither type pose.

Ah yes someone else reminded me of another profile no-no, as far as I am concerned.

You put something in your Picks so that others can see it, and visit a place.

Therefore DO NOT put stuff in your picks that you do not want people to click on and visit.

Nothing bugs me more than to follow something like that and instantly get "attacked" by a security orb, being ejected and banned, or TP into someone's bedroom while they are "doing the wild thing".
