From: Rocketman Raymaker I would like to play Chess for lindens too but I haven't explored SL enough to discover where the players are and which ones I will be able to beat. I'm not even sure who the best Chess player in SL is but I would like to play them even if I lose my $$$ because I really enjoy the game especially if there is a something little more to play for rather than just bragging rights.
Hey, I know! People can host chess tournaments with a prize, and people can place side bets on who they think will win, which will be ok because there's no random number generation involved, and then we can have a lot of threads on whether chess is a "sport" and thereby ineligible for others to bet on.

Cynthia's Heaven did sponsor a chess tournament. There were some halfway decent prizes given to the winners.

From: Mimiru Heartsdale Hi I just rejoined sl and have been looking for some slots to play but I cant find any! There used to be lots around SL a few years ago are they all banned now of somthing Yes Gambling IS banned. All Gambling machines, and games Named or unnamed are banned if they Involve Players putting money in, and relying on any form of Chance to Anticipate a pay-out or Portion of pay-out. Games of skill Involving a prize, where the contestants need not pay ANY money to Play are OK. Side bets are a slightly Different issue. If i Hold a combat tournament, and there is a prize for the Winner, then i am Not in violation of the new policies. If some of the spectators wager amongst themselves on the outcome I am STILL not in violation of the TOS, BUT those making the bets Are. If at any time I Cover one of the bets, "Take some of the Action" Then My Event would be in Violation, because now the Gambling is directly associated with the Organizing of the Event. That is pretty much how the laws are structured in RL with regards to things like Football, or Hockey (Horse racing is a far more Complex Issue) and that is how the TOS Policey would most likely be applied according to how it reads. Angel.

You might want to try giving Las Vegas a try. That would entail actually stepping away from the computer and leaving the house.....a monumental task for some here I'd wager....

From: Ylikone Obscure A bit sad?! It's just plain pathetic. If that's what people enjoyed doing who are you to call them pathetic? I know plenty of people who'd call everyone who engages in Second Life pathetic, and I don't agree with them either.

It would also mean stepping out of one's internet anonimity and taking personal responsibility without a handy pseudonym (or an alt's alt's pseudonym). Wanna bet on how many of them are likely to do this?

Wanna bet on how many of them are likely to do this? True - theres also this: In SL before the ban You could RUN a casino and make money. The odds always favor the house and all that. -------------------------- In real life the chances of you being able to run your own casino are tiny. Smaller than tiny. -------------------------- So you can only go gambling, where odds are you'll lose. And people who dont want you blowing all the household income know you went gambling .. etc.

From: Brenda Connolly Indians tribes are still subject to State gambling laws. if the State does not allow Casino Gambling . then the Indians can't open a Casino. you can Google IGRA for more info. *IGRA meaning Indian gaming regulatory Act, not International Gay Rodeo Association, whic maybe interestin reading in and of itself. errrr......... someone better tell that to those californian native americans, and the governator too.... it's illegal to gamble in california, but the place is now littered with indian casinos.

No, I think the would be against the rules that LL have created, although maybe not but it is not a service I would like to provide. I am going to buy a Chess board soon but have no Idea who has created the best one. Does anyone know anything about buying Chess tables in SL? I think I want a giant one rather than small tables that you sit at. Any Ideas will be much appreciated (I'm not a big fan of shopping but do like to buy stuff, LOL)

Gambling drama is old news. We've moved on to Age Verification drama. There is a program available at the door so you can catch up.

Yeah, and speaking of, should non-matching penis and skin color be considered broadly offensive? Or just pathetic and/or hilarious? Should there be a poll? Should it include an option for pie? These are the important questions of our time....
