It's part of the life of a forum, Nikki. If you'll read through you will see that the thread took many routes that had nothing to do with your initial request. Once that happens it can take awhile for the thread to die.

OK, am I the only one confused here? I still see all the posts in this thread. What does she mean "nothing on it?" She talking about her original post, if so it was quoted so it's immortal outside her control.

I think she meant her website has nothing on it. All it said was "Screw SL." when I looked, and people make references to other things being on it earlier.

I don't have anything against you, I don't even know you. But walking into a room full of strangers and asking for money, legitimate or not, is asking for some verbal retaliation. Heck, if you did this on the street it would be considered, at minimum, rude. In a forum, you can expect the dosage to be increased by a magnitude of 2, easily.

And for me, the commentary re: "thanks for the flaming" pushed me a little over the top. No one likes a beggar, and that's exactly what you're doing - walking into a forum you've never posted in before. begging for money. It's the epitome of poor judgment.

I'm not saying it to be mean. I'm saying it as a wakeup call. Look around. There are people here who have been in SL for YEARS. I'd wager a very healthy percentage of the people here are business owners, and successful business owners at that. There are folks who speak on friendly terms with Lindens, and folks who actually ARE well-known in SL. All of these people are not only an amazing and powerful resource, but most of them are approachable, friendly types who have no problem giving the shirts off their backs for people they care about.

I personally have found myself to be more comfortable here than any forum I've had the pleasure of hanging out in (mostly because they forgive my sometimes over-the-line picture posting and understand that a llama has a brain the size of a ham sandwich). I'm a pain in the ass, but I'm a grateful pain in the ass, and I'll stick up for this bunch of deviants any day of the week.

We're also a forgiving lot (most of us, anyway). Stop being defensive, stop and talk a while, tell us about you and learn about us. No one is going to send money to someone they don't know, especially someone who has an attitude upon entering the room. But we might be inclined to help someone out we like, even initially, in other ways. Put your better foot forward, and you might find we're a pretty nice bunch of people.

Saying, "the seventh most sexy Welsh female celebrity" is sort of like saying, "the 7'th best BDSM theatrical act in the US." (Yes, I've been to a show where the "troupe" made that claim.)
