I Have A Peeper!

So, today I found out why changing in public places can be hazardous!

I had found a lovely rather private place to try on clothing. It's been rather empty for weeks, except for a few other women I've ran into, who have been really nice to speak with (interestingly, mostly foreign, Spain, but I speak a bit of Spanish so it's been a nice experience overall).

Anyway, today I was in there for quite an extended time because I needed to rez a lot of stuff. I was naked much of the time, and trying on clothing, quite a bit of it was lingerie as it turned out. I must have been putting on some show.

Anyway, I wasn't paying any attention if anyone else was around, the sim has 2 rooms to it.

Suddenly, I zoomed out with the camera a bit and noticed a male Av with his pants unzipped, and a large erection pointed in my direction! And he didn't even bother to say hello or anything! Somehow, the least I would have expected was he could have asked if he could watch - maybe I would have said ok? Let him go about his business, I mean, whatever. I'm no prude. It wasn't like he was molesting me. Or, maybe that was going to be his next move for all I know, I guess he could have come up behind me rather quickly (talk about role play).

But instead, I was so wierded out by his peeping on me, that I quickly dressed and TP'd out of there! I even forgot to put on shoes!

I'm surprised I actually felt a bit violated by this. I mean, he was sitting in a chair, all hunched over, and had his name turned off, I really couldn't see him there at all if I had not happened to move the camera around. It's the first time I've had an experience of somebody sneaking up on me. I mean, what if I owned that sim and he had just came barging into my home like that? Everyone else I've ever met, had the courtesy to at least say a quick "hello" at minimum if they see one other person alone in a room. Just seems common courtesy, let alone if it's a women alone. So, I can only assume he was up to no good.

Guess I'm just venting more than anything here. Has anyone else every experience anything like this?

Oh and BTW - I don't remember who it was that suggested using the word "Penguin" as a way to ward off unwanted male attentions, but I did try using that the other day when some guy walked up to me, with a very large, erect member and inappropriately told me to take my clothing off for no reason. I just looked at him and said "Penguin?". He was completely puzzled! Followed me for a few moments, asking me what I meant, then turned on his heels and left me alone Whoever you were that suggested this, it worked like a charm!

I'm still stunned that this happens. You're saying that this guy didn't even approach you. What was the purpose of having his junk even attached at all. If he's just some weirdo sitting at home taking care of himself to your avatar (creepy, but within the realm of possibility, I suppose), then why does he need the attachment in SL? What a creep!!

Then guys just wandering up to women with their junk sticking out and demanding sex. Does that work!!?? EVER!? I'm the furthest thing from a ladies man - I have no game at all, but even I know that approach is absolutley flawed beyond recognition. Seriously, WTF is wrong with these guys!! I'm offended that they are the same gender as me. I'm all for perversion, but for the love of God, guys, brush up your approach a little!

Actually, one of the funniest things I've seen in Sl was when I was hanging out with a female friend (clothed, no funny business, just hanging out, and not in a sex area at all) and some guy walked up. The conversation went a little like this:

Me in IM: 10L says he tries to get you naked
Her: No way.
Him: ooooo baby you sexy today, you nice boobs.
Me in IM: You owe me 10L
Me in chat: Well, I'm going to go look over there. I'll leave you two kids to get to know each other.
/me wanders off and leaves them alone
Her: WTF, don't leave me with this guy!
Me: I figured you might want to be alone
Her: Bastard.
/me laughs hysterically.
Me: can I IM him and tell him that if he gives me 500L he can have you?
Her: No! Jesus, he won't leave me be, get back over here! He's IM'ing me.

etc, etc, etc

@ Elora....... Dunno what to say, some guys are idiots. I seem to remember you were given some places to get changed (if that was someone else, forgive me), if not drop me an IM, maybe I can offer assistance.

I was changing in my living room one time....trying on a bunch of new stuff that I had just bought. I'd like to add, at this time, that my blinds were turned on on my windows and my door was locked. The only people that have permissions to open the door are myself, my RL/SL husband and my alt. Anyway, my husband was in his store next door to my house, and suddently tp'd into my living room, asking me who that guy was. (He had picked up someone else there on his radar HUD) I had no clue who he was talking about until I turned my camera view around...there was some guy dressed in newbie skin and clothes standing in my living room right in front of me! I had inventory windows open, and never even knew he was there. God only knows how long he was watching me. I didn't even give him a chance to explaine...it just freaked me out too much. I just ejected and banned, immediately. Might have been harsh, but he obviously cammed through my closed blinds and "sat" on something in my living room to bring him in, and then was too sneaky to even let me know he was there. Hope he enjoyed his "show"....
It is rude that someone would do that....I think my avie is very sexy, in a cute clean-cut way, but she's still just a "cartoon" person. Strange people in RL and SL!

Wasn't it? Luckily, the woman was a friend and has a good sense of humor, because I just abandoned her there, barely staying within range of chat. She scraped him off of her, but not before significant hilarity. At some point or another, I should probably expect retribution.

I'm conflicted about whether I would have taken the 500L. No way was she going to do anything with him, but he was being such a nincompoop that it would have served him right. I think the honest side of me would have won out and I would have refused the money. The degenerate a-hole side might have told him that she was just playing hard to get, then fed him a few lines to say. (She likes dogs, bro. Tell her you're hung like a schnauzer, it drives her crazy. Trust me, I'm just trying to help). In retrospect, I wish I had done that.

Get a radar hud, and use it all the time.

Most of the free ones aren't great, but there are a couple that are adequate, and some cheap ones that do well. I like one that just lists the avs within a given distance, and that updates automatically.

It's not just for peeping toms. Sometimes I use it just so I can say hello to people as they come near, without having to watch for them. And there are times when I may want to say something personal, and it's easier to just check the hud and say it if no one is around than to fire up an IM window for it.

Once you start using one, you won't know how you survived without it.

Funny, I have the opposite problem, I can be standing doing whatever it is I do, and random women come up and ask me for sex. I can even be with another woman and I get the "Damn you look good, want to hook up?" IM.

Personally, I prefer guys without 'game.'

I second this. After about 15 minutes with Mystitools, I don't know how anyone can function without it.

Am I the only person who uses the mini-map?

Seriously, if you turn on the mini-map, you can see that there are people in your vicinity. You might want to set it to zoom in for greater magnification, so it will be easier to see people standing right next to you (who are sometimes hidden under your own yellow dot when you are zoomed out).

Adding my own spin to the 'intrusion' theme... I and my better half were alone in our skybox when I noticed on the mini-map the upside down green T getting suspiciously close to us. Nothing below my box except water so I had the sneaking suspicion we were about to be visited. Like the behavior mentioned by others the T suddenly became a green dot off to the right of us and I could now see a guy floating outside the box. Seconds later he was in the box. Obviously he HAD to know we were there... without our dots showing on the map you probably wouldn't know my box was up 700 meters in the air. I ejected him first, thinking that would be sufficient... yet he came back. I ejected him again and followed with an IM asking what he wanted and why he keeps trying to get inside of my home. Third time he came back I went straight for the freeze, eject and ban. Never got a reply, comment, complaint by the individual...

Maybe it's because you aren't running around with your stuff hanging out assaulting women. I don't think I've ever been approached by a random woman looking to hook up. In fact, I know I haven't.

@Ann - my lack of game IS my game... Ok, lol, that's just a lie. I was just saying that if some guy is going to go out looking for random sex with women, how could anyone in their right mind possibly think that approach would work? It's not "game" per se, it's just common sense. Maybe Chris and I should hold a class at NCI. He can show them how to get approached by women when you are not looking for it, and I can dope slap them every time they try to get a woman naked by saying something that is just patently stupid. We need a couple female volunteers for the newbs to practice on. Anyone?

I can't help thinking they are minors. If they are adults, I seriously worry for humankind lol.

The minimap and a personal radar HUD are useful, but do not really tell if somebody is watching you because they may be further away! But, in the debug menu, Client->Character->Show Look At will help you know if somebody is zoomed in at you sometimes, but it wont tell who!

So you know how I was complaining that no one ever hits on me, stalks me, or even hangs his junk out for me? And how someone dubbed me the Ice Queen? Well just to see what happened I went out and bought a sexy leather outfit, which, while fully covering the important bits, left not a lot to the imagination. I got hit on, not once, but TWICE in the same day! I was really excited. Of course, the conversations went something like this:

I promise I won't try to get you naked - we're accoplices in this scheme. I just want to IM the guy, tell him I'm your boyfriend, but I'm too drunk to get it going, and I want him to do it for me, but you're a freak and he needs to say exactly what I tell him to or you won't let him touch you. Trust me. Save the chat logs. It will be HILARIOUS.

I use the minimap almost exclusively to tell if i'm private; try to keep the number of scripts I wear to a minimum. Tho mystitool is great, I tend not to use it unless I really really nead a particular thing.

And I had NO IDEA Lindens didn't show up on an AV radar (aka chat notifier).
