There are only three kinds of region ratings, Adult, Mature, and PG. So if it does not match the adult definition, it *must* fall into Mature or PG. Then if the PG definition disallows it being on PG, the only place left is Mature. Basically a process of elimination.

The confusion stems both from their using the same word, "Adult" for a region rating, and a type of content; and from the fact that *their* definition of "Adult" means "advertised or publicly promoted", while the rest of us look at a sex animation or pornographic photo and think its adult all the time, whether or not its advertised.

It would have made more sense if the new land categories were called:

Public Mature
Private Mature
PG

i agree.i mean the whole thing with the meetings was based around keywords and advertising and search..things like this..i've yet to see anything saying mature cannot have private adult content and activities..everything stems around publicity and it being out in the open..
everything says to me keep it out of sight..
if someone cams in your house then it is going to show you where? in your house..

i don't blame people for wanting to be 100% sure..the CS is working in conjunction with the maturity standards..it's not some side not that doesn't count for anything it's how they are rating if you need to be on an adult rated sim..

in the faq's they say residents lives won't change unless they want to take advantage of in so many words..the advertising of adult content..

it's like evolution..the absolute certain fact is missing..because the CS to me leads to what is what when it points us to the maturity standards and what ever links from those..

still if people are leery which i can understand then go with your feeling on it..my opinion and 2 usd may get you a cup of coffee at a greasy spoon lol

i'm not telling anyone to do anything at all..i am just saying this is how i read it..

i still think it will change again in the next few months..so we'll see i guess..

I couldn't agree more, I've raised this elsewhere, what happened with Openspaces is an example of why the community standards should have a clear and unambiguous statement about private residences being exempt.

With Openspaces people were told via support tickets and in forum threads that their usage was ok and then LL pulled their great contorversy out of the magic hat and pointed to their official documentation, ignoring in the process all the other communications regarding the product.

Tread very carefully with the way LL have worded the new community standards.

i agree people should use great care right now..so much is going on at the moment..and the CS needs to be a lot clearer..
lindens are mixed up on it and residents are mixed up on it..the only ones that know for certain are the adult content businesses..

maybe when we get the new TOS it will clear things up..i hope anyways lol
