You walk into the village. The village is small, consisting of an Inn, a Blacksmith's, a General Store and some houses. The Blacksmith's and the General Store are closed.

You may go to the Inn or you may Leave The Village.

> Go to Inn

As you step in through the doorway of the inn, you feel the warm glow of the fire hit you. There are several villagers at various tables eating, drinking and generally doing inny type things. You approach the inn keeper and ask for a bed for the night. Seeing the PARAFIN LAMP, the inn keeper asks where you got it from.

You can;

1. Tell him about your encounter with the noob earlier in the last thread before we started a new one.
2. Tell him to where he sticks his damn nose, or he might wind up losing it.
3. Make up a lie about finding it on the road.

What would you like to do?

TELL who what now?

You explain to the innkeeper that a noob gave it to you on the road to the south of the village. The innkeeper smiles and explains that the noob was his retarded younger brother. He had heard all about how you had helped him, and was happy to give you a bed for the night and some food free of charge.

It is late evening. You are tired and hungry.

You may;

1. Go to bed and rest for 1 hour
2. Go to bed and sleep until morning.
3. Stay downstairs in the common room of the inn and eat.

The inns beds are comfortable, if basic. You sleep soundly, despite your stomach rumbling. You awake refreshed, confident that you have not missed any information vital to the storyline of the game by not staying in the inn's common room to talk to the locals.

You may;

1. Sleep for an hour
2. Sleep until evening
3. Go downstairs to the inn's common room
4. Build a little fort on the bed out of blankets

You build a fort out of blankets on the bed and sit in it. It's fun for a while, but you realise that none of this tomfoolery is getting you any closer to the inevitable denoument of the story.

You may;

1. Sleep for an hour
2. Sleep until evening
3. Go downstairs to the inn's common room

You head downstairs to the inn's common room where you find a basic but nutritious breakfast of bread, cheese and fruit laid out for you. A few of the inn's other guests are already seated at various tables around the common room. The innkeeper is whistling to himself as he polishes the glasses behind the bar.

You approach the amiable innkeeper. After a brief exchange of pleasantries, the innkeeper explains that the OP doesn't really know where the story is going, but it is sure to involve orcs, a quest of some sort, a magical item of jewellery and a long journey. He suggests you talk among yourselves while the OP gets some shut-eye and that you come back tomorrow.

Save your game now y/n?

It's www.b3ta.com/movies/heyhey16k that started all this. I had "Winter Wonderland" crossed with "Lords of Midnight" (both for the Sinclair Spectrum) in mind when I started.

You must not be old enough to have played these sorts of games.

There are conventions in how to give commands; first, there are certain commands that they usually recognise; go, get, pick up, say, speak, tell, wear and use. Next, the objects in the game have a name which must be combined with a command.

So your line "tell him how you got it" doesn't work because there is no "him" and no "it". "Tell innkeeper about noob" is the sort of response a primitive program like the understands (not that modern software is any smarter). See, you combined a command it understands with objects it has a name for.

It's reminding me of L.O.R.D. and the old bbs days.

Please someone tell me I'm not the only one who knows that game.
