Would it be nice if the IMAGE of an avatar stayed when offline?

From: Argent Stonecutter Well, in MUDs and Mucks when you disconnect your character stays there, "asleep". Some people script their descriptions so when they're asleep it'll show them curled up, snoozing, or sprawled out drunk, depending on whether they want to be cute or funny.
In most places sleeping characters are regularly "swept home", and if they have no home that sweeps them to a virtual non-space where they can't be seen. You can also sweep characters manually... in some places anyone can "sweep" and in others only the owner of the place can.
Some characters have scripts that activate when they're swept and walk them out muttering about being "woken up", or fighting back against the broom.
It's not creepy at all. I like the idea of that. As I said, perhaps an ideal (if it were techniacally possible, which I guess it's not) would be for it to be a function of a bed, so just before logging off you pressed a button and the bed generated a copy of you to lay there as you left. |

Definitely not.
Laggy, and annoying. If it was going to be done, it would have to be parcel owner's option too. I wouldn't want idiots standing around in my sim when they'd logged off.

I did have a neighbor way back when I began that would leave his avatar sleeping in his bed. For the longest time I was quite confused and thought he was some odd bot, or something. Then one day he actually moved. And I learned what was happening. (didn't help he was living in Italy and I was . . . what, 8 hours away? on a different time cycle)
