I noticed before the Big Bang today and also still now....that for some reason skirts are not *fixing* to be visible all the time? I tried on several befor the big crashing episode earlier today/last night...and again now..i see them morph on to me...then they vanish...go to appearance and there they are...come out..and gone. rebake character they appear. Sometimes they stay...sometimes not. No other item of clothing is doing this..only skirts....oh not flexi skirts btw...the solid variety, flexi is fine.
anyone else noticed this yet? (im using the new viewer, with settings pretty low for most tihngs, except avatar and flexible)

i have definitley noticed this. it's happening on basically every single system skirt i've tried on (and i tried on a tonne, last night)
as well, it's about 50/50 if other people can see the skirt on me fine or if it's invisible to them as well.

I hope everyone remembers their undies. o.O (This has been an issue with Windlight-enabled viewers for quite a while. I guess fixing it is not a priority. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2778)

https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2778 "System skirt textures turn invisible on wearing" 86 votes and LL says they have trouble duplicating it. They request that you add a comment to the bug giving them your system specs from SL's Help/About. This looks a bit nasty: -- Once a skirt disappears (most people say this happens only in Windllight), it is gone even in the older viewer (the asset seems to become corrupt somehow) -- Yes, other people see it as gone too -- Clearing cache does not fix, nor does rebake -- For some people, it can be worked around by going into edit appearance and (if it's modify) changing a slider a bit. -- If it's not modify, then try: Go into edit appearance Goto the skirt tab Remove the skirt (don't close Edit Appearance) Wear the skirt again Now close Edit appearance These workarounds don't always seem to work; hit-and-miss. .

OK, now, this is just lovely.
So now we can no longer wear skirts? Just so we can have Windlight?
Now I am getting mad. coco

I've just tested this out. I tried on several skirts and dresses in latest regular viewer and First Look. I got them on OK, although rezzing can take a long time and might require a couple of rebakes - I find that's usually more of a problem with dresses I haven't worn for some time. Sorry, this might not help anyone who's lost invo items but if it might narrow the problem down a bit it might be of help. LL blog does say that there are asset server problems so hopefully everything will pop back into place soon.

Yeah, that particular JIRA was started 6 months ago.
Popular opinion seems to be that the issue was fixed, then 'unfixed' again in common LL style.

The 1.19 viewer releases have all had this bug, on and off. The most recent Client in particular has it really bad. I get the same issues on both Win XP and Mac OS X, on a mid-range Nvidia card and on a high end ATI card.
With one of my alts, she's gotten so frustrated that she has gone to wearing only jeans and t-shirts. Because NONE of her prim skirts or avatar mesh skirts will work right! Her best prim skirt won't attach, and won't rez. And the mesh skirts vanish at the most inconvenient times, leaving her with nothing on below the waist but a lacy pair of panties.

I downloaded the new viewer & haven't had any problems, not that anyone'd tell me if I was half naked, they know I wouldn't care

Ceera ... if you have an alt who can reproduce this so easily, contact Zen Linden and/or Torley, who've been looking for a way to reliably reproduce the bug for months. Although, it almost sounds like in her case the avatar may have become corrupted, given that you're having troubles with prim skirts too. Have you tried taking her back to a default avatar? (Advanced/Character/Character Tests/Test female) /me shakes finger at Ciaran! .

I've had a few customers with this issue. After much issues with getting it to work doing this has worked for at least five people including one of my alts to fix this. It must be done in this order.
ctrl R to rebake immediately go into appearance and out Clear cache relog
I've not dealt with this issue since the forced viewer but prior it worked every time. But it only worked if we did it in that order.
Hope this helps some.

Reb actually...one of the underskirts i *lost* was a wedding dress of yours...i was given it by a friend...called *cotton...something* very pretty...but after yesterday...everytime i try to try it on..i get the *item missing from database* message for the underskirt Im thinking I might try and make something myself to wear under it Its very very prettty (I think its quite an old model as everytihng now is no trans) Your store is awesome, when i was married in July of last year in SL, we bought my dress/veil,bouquet, bridesmaids, groom & best man, grooms attendants rfom you...everything was SO perfect..one of my favs was a little touch i bought at the last moment, a button hole flower for the groom..he still wears it now for special events, its deliciously pretty but not overly so for a guy . I'll give whut you suggest a whirl...earlier i tried some of the advice and it worked for ONE sarong wrap but not for others...SL was a little jittery though , will try later.. Thanks for all the help & advice everyone!! Fai xx

Fai, this has worked for every person I did it with but if your skirt isn't fixed we'll try replacing it. Just contact me in SL we'll make it right somehow.

No Skirts
04-06-2008 11:04
Unfortunately, none of these suggestions including the ones suggested in the Jira link: ( https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2778) seem to be working for me. I don't use Windlight, so that's not it. Skirts were fine before a few mandatory viewers ago. I was able to get a skirt to stay on with no color/texture for about 2 seconds longer when I put it on and took it off about 10 times, it of course vanished when I walked away. This is not just annoying, but paralyzing since most of the clothing I make, sell, and wear incorporate system skirts. I've also noticed a lot of scripted items are borked. Damn this sucks.

Actually this is really the first issue I've had with something not rezzing or staying on someone. System skirts are not the best but it's basically all we have to work with unless you don't use one at all. Then you have the customer who doesn't like her butt crack to show which is an issue as well. (that's a lovely word "butt crack" lol I'll do some research with the Linden's to see if I can find out anything as well.

I've also noticed a lot of scripted items are borked. Damn this sucks. Windlight is in the newest mandatory update. So, if you are using that, you are using Windlight. Scripted objects have been impacted by the general grid issues over the last few days, and several items I own are only working some of the time. Also, the upgrade to the Havok 4 system broke a few things (including, it seems, my favorite butterfly emitter ). As for the skirt bug, I haven't had any trouble. *crosses fingers*

Sorry started a new thread about this in error I thought at first the problem was fixed in the latest viewer but it's not. And 1.19.1.4 is not mandatory. U can still use 1.19.0.5 which is non-Windlight. And even the third party viewer by Nicholaz 1.18.5.3 still runs.
