From: Ricardo Harris SL is full of clubs. Full of practically empty clubs as no one goes to them being they're so poorly managed. Everyone thinks they can run a club but judging by what you see in most, they're extremely wrong. Most of these folks have good intentions. They just are not aware of what resources are available for them. I started my club in 2005 with a free danceball and free dances (which I still have and give away). I see alot more clubs are developing reaccurring events now - which is better than wandering in to the venue to be greeted by random chaos. I like the new trend of mature jazzy and ballroom places on the grid. And it would be nice to see a hip hop club run like a business and not a clubhouse.

Elements dance club is of course still here and doing just fine.
It is currently in its 4th incarnation on GOL 4.
As other posters have said many clubs are big empty shells much of the time. It is a labor of love to keep any club filled in SL.
Themed events are one thing that helps and Elements has loads of them. As it happens I run the Costume event on Wednesdays from 10pm-Midnight SLT. (It is one I enjoy as you can see anything from evil alien robot spider costumes to furries and everything in between).

Whenever the classified ad says something like 'dance club/mall' I tend to stay away. They should be separate. Not in the same building. I like it when the club has an actual structure with a basis in reality. It has FEEL like a club.

Well, here's a plug for my club. It's a PG, small club, and we workd hard to keep it lag-free. As a matter of fact, we'll be moving to a brand new sim this week, as my current neighbor has added some script-heavy items. We have events every night at 8pm SL time, plus a trivia on Wednesday. I make a schedule of events each month, so you know well in advance what is going on. I should also mention that we have unusual events, we do not do the same themes that you see everywhere else. Anyone is welcome to a schedule to check. Our membership is mostly more mature people, and we tend to play oldies rock mostly. We have a great time and laugh a lot. We use voice AND typing. If someone who doesn't have voice is present, we make sure to type so they don't feel left out. All our regulars are friendly, outgoing people. We do not discriminate against different lifestyles. This is not your normal club. It's not all about money. Heck, it doesn't make money, but I don't care, I love the people who come every night! This club has no paid staff, only volunteers (DJs, officers) who help me. Oh, yes, we have a variety of dance balls , couples dances, line dances, Greek circles, and of course a main dance ball that synchs the dancers. For now we're at: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Atlantic%20City%20Island/64/91/22

if I didn't mention my current home away from RL, Parrot Bay - it's been around since our old club, Mons Venus, closed its doors to become a casino. We had a wonderful group of people all suddenly homeless, so we got together and built a club out of love. Now, 8 months later, it's still hopping - no shopping, no escorting, just the best Pirate-Themed Family Strip Club in SL (tm). Events every night, live music a couple of times a week, friendly people - we call it a family club because we all feel so close. We've had our drama, sure, who hasn't - yet I take it as a good sign that the place has an empty ban list. We've just never had a reason to issue an extended ban. Oh, but stay off the stage - it has teeth, and will toss you out back if you're not staff

You know though our place is mature and we have a Dresscode that requires Swimwear or clothing free. It is a true dance club... we have events from western to formal... We have a respectful crowd ... And a staff that makes sure that people comport themselves in a manor that reflects thier age. We have a live DJ at varried times and during all live events. We not only have a large dance area but also several romantic places to take your partner for some quite time but still close enough to enjoy the resort.
So if you want to go to a place that has a true club vibe... without the camping tribe... Come visit us at ~SDI~ Skinny Dip Inn on burnt toast Island.

From: Sarah Nerd . . . I'm sure You'll get responses on here from people trying to promote there own establishments . . . Jumpin' June Bugs! I didn't think that would happen with so much enthusiasm. But what a wealth of information. I'm glad to hear Blackhearts has merely moved, and I can't wait to try out as many of these suggestions as time allows. Thank you. -- KC

So tonight I went to Blackhearts and House of tunes and The Edge. The only place that spoke to me was Blackhearts. I couldn't find Runaround Sue's or the Libertine. Will keep reading this thread and trying out places.
Personally, if you like country, Bailers is my favorite.

I have been to several night clubs, but they tend to be very laggy due to the light shows and such, not too much the texture heavy avs with bling and particles. Also, the ones I have been to seem to be a bit too blatantly about the L$, with DJs asking people to feed the sploder every ten seconds. Not my cup of tea.
I found one club that played great music, but I can't remember the name. It is in Baron Grayson's sim under his fat furniture store. Small, but if you like rockabilly/hellbilly music it kicks butt! It has always been empty when I stopped in, which seems a shame.
I am going to check out some of the suggestions in this thread and see if I can find a good club. Seems a pity not to take advantage of my AVs remarkable dancing skills!

My current favorite and home club is VooDoo Lounge, I have been to at least half a dozen other good clubs with friends ranging from Rock Clubs to Formal Dance clubs in the last month or so all having a fairly decent attendance.
As for laggy clubs, that depends on the users hardware, and a certain ratio of fun to lag. I find that though VooDoo can be laggy at times when it is packed, often it is fun enough for me not to care, this goes for most clubs I go to, if I can move around decently and I am having enough fun that I don't notice the lag so much, it's a good place.

From: KC Despres Have new dance venues sprung up to fill the void or is it just not viable any more? It looks like I need to clear my landmarks and start over. The only constant in Second Life is Change. Purging landmarks is a healthy, cleansing experience.

From: Maggie McArdle Twilight Lounge & Ravenesque .... this is where i would say "Paradise Ballroom", but it's gone now BCNI Radio/The Lodge. Absolutely Twilight Lounge & Ravenesque!! Two clubs connected by a lovely path: Twilight Lounge for romantic/jazz/swing; Ravenesque leans more toward rock. Live DJ's most every night - no campers/sploders/not a mall in sight. Tends toward a more mature crowd (read: no sound spam every few seconds) Lovely venue in the build, music and most of all, the people.

Another Plug!

I opened a club Liquid Rock for My Friends. I was tired of going to events only to be ignored if your not in their click. If you like Rock and Great People, come check it out! I have events a few days a week with DJ's. I don't care about traffic, it's about having fun.

Well, good... let 'em keep feeding the sploder... especially if it's that pinata type that seems prevalent around the grid. I dearly love finding new 'easy' places with big pots and lazy people. Just remember that the pinata's tracked online, and I have the HUD....

Here is my shameless self promotion: I manage a nightclub called Jammin & Slammin, which stresses it's "No Nudity" policy. We have nightly contest events from either 6-8pm or 7-9pm. It's a nice, clean, open environment with fun, polite regulars. Our DJs are usually playing a mix of 80s, 90s and today type music. Check my profile in-world if you want the LM.

The Tiki Lounge - located at the northern end of Hedonistic Isle. Live DJs usually online on back to back shifts from 10am to 12am SL Time. Different themes cycle in and out with each shift. It's been around in one incarnation or another since I have come to SL and I hear rumors that it is about to undergo another renovation soon. Not a couples dancing place although they have a few laid out and you can lay your own out if you're so inclined. Someone else mentioned Club Tiny a place do go if you are wearing your Tiny avatar As mentioned it is also an Epic fishing sim. AfterShock - New club. The build is a nice industrial warehouse club theme including exposed red brick and pipes.

Shameless Plug for my new island sim and club ENVY
12-11-2007 08:34
Maybe you could try popping over to Gumbo Bay which opened up for visitors last Friday 7th December 2007. The club is designed to be lag free with a main dance ball containing all of sine waves fab dances, slow couples dances via poseballs. Dj's stream into club for events with most types of music being played and requests taken. My staff are people who worked with me in the first Envy club who have followed me becuase we all have become good friends but we'd love to meet new friends and welcome anyone of you who wishes to come visit us....events are planned daily from 12SLT ( 8pm GMT) The island itself is designed for leisure and romance and has many hidden corners for folks to find on their explorations. There's surfing waves and hidden caves, ruins, soon to be completed reef for scuba diving, windsurfers, jetski's, canoeing for the more leisurely and romantic way to see the island, paradise blanket and well.......oh come see us ) Fluff
