What happened to all the dance clubs?

I've spent too much time building. Now I want to cut loose and socialize a little, but my old haunts have disappeared. First it was Virtual Festival which I used to really enjoy. Now I just discovered that Blackhearts Cafe, a fun and friendly 80's venue, has gone. Have new dance venues sprung up to fill the void or is it just not viable any more? It looks like I need to clear my landmarks and start over. --KC

All my favorite places have moved, closed down, or morphed into new places in the short 8 months I've been in SL. The likely culprit is also the silver lining: there are too many gathering places of any given variety, so the current models won't be hard to find. Good luck!

Let me know when You find some honest to goodness fun ones. I'm sure You'll get responses on here from people trying to promote there own establishments, But I'm having a real hard time finding honest to goodness camper free fun and social places. The search list makes it hard because anything up on the list is there because its camper filled. I've used this thread a lot to find cool places in sl to go to with friends or blog about, but I wouldn't consider any of them clubs. /327/75/211762/1.html

I just opened a place called The Libertine. Dance/Romance/Hangout. We'll have arists exhibiting their stuff, lots of places to sit and socialize and stuff.

Blackhearts has changed locations. It caught me by surprise as well, but just bring up the search window and you will find the new location (or send me and IM and I will pass along the landmark to you). It's slightly smaller, but for the most part, it's the same club.

A lot of places went and got their own islands. House of Blues and Junkyard Blues come to mind. You might just have to re-search to find your favorites.

And I'll put a plug out for my own little labor of love, Antares: The Lounge. Adult contemporary, ambient, jazz or easy listening is what we play. It is a deliberately chilled out place. We've got 15 partner dance balls. Most of our events are in morning/midday (got a few European DJs), and a few events in prime time at night. Check us out if you are so inclined. We don't have campers. We just like good music.

of course my bar back seat norm, is still standing, and if something happens that the sim owner sells the sim or whatever, I will always keep back seat norm open, just reopen on the main land

it is a quiet place as I do not run events, a friend said he might start some events

if anyone wants to run an event at this place, just send me an IM, and if you have a stream you want added to the radio tuner, send me that and I will add it, and add you to the radio tuner allowed list

I will not charge anyone to use it, just respect the place is all I ask, and if griefers come around and you need them taken care of send me an IM (I am almost always available)

My friend runs a PG (dance) Club called 'the Lift' which is beside chairlifts to a ski area and I think there is a skating rink too. Just search for it in Classifieds or Places.

We have just moved to new Sim (old one sold from under us) - ours is designed to be a club for people to have fun together - come alone or as a group but don't come if you have no sense of humour or don't want to be chatted to by dancers, host, dj and proprietors - well - we will leave you alone if you insist...

We have no campers or escorts - nearby club does all that stuff. We have just invested in an amazing dance floor with lots of dances and 100s of effects. We've ditched the sploder and bought a balloon shooting game to add some fun and group activity...

It's a FUN club, FUN people, FUN events and FUN activities - a small percentage of tips goes towards paying the tier but the club is our hobby not a business...

Always interested in new dancers too - any nationality but must be personalities!

A few clubs I enjoy...The Blue Moon (Playing all Queen stuff tonight, Sinatra tomorrow...diverse), Salsa Romantica, and Defcon1. Loch Ness isn't a club per se, but it has a dancefloor and plenty of places to sit and socialize.

I'll be putting up parties there when I am totally over the flu. I refuse to do 'events' cos frankly everyone is bored silly with the voting/vote boards/political voting. Instead, I the DJs are well taken care of resulting in MEGA long parties - 10 hours is not unknown.

Plus everyone there is HAWT. Well, except me, I look like a monkey!

The German (but English friendly) Neon Entertainment center has morphed into Unser Club, with the same DJ and core group. Their style is ... um, well, anything Whitney Houston *won't* sing...

Cat's place is great - one of the first places I went to on SL, and was made to feel very welcome - sorry I haven't been in in a while Cat - will remedy that as soon as poss!

Yes...a couple of dance spots I liked are gone too...

The Edge is pretty cool; the DJs keep it going pretty good;
with themed dances and contests etc...and in the background
is all the socializing... =)

House of Tunes has always been my go to spot. Love the atmosphere. Since they moved to the Crossroads sim they’ve been a little harder to find. Just go to the top of the hill. Well worth a visit.
Oh and Rhaorths done a magnificent job with Back seat norms, and Movix City is a must see for every one.
VooDoo Lounge is hot along with Junkyard Blues and Juke Joint Blues.

If you like 50's & 60's music, (early or original Rock-N-Roll), "RunAround Sue's" is absolutely Fantastic! Very friendly people. I've coined it as a 'Time Machine', going back to more care free years!

SL is full of clubs. Full of practically empty clubs as no one goes to them being they're so poorly managed. Everyone thinks they can run a club but judging by what you see in most, they're extremely wrong.

Clubs with no dance balls seems to be the latest fad. Or with the wrong balls if they happen to provide any. An example: I went to a grand opening of a hip-hop club but there were only about 6 sets of dance balls. Everyone was just standing around for the most part. Of the balls 3 were slow dances and 2 were tangos. Tangos? What are tango dance balls doing in a hip-hop club to begin with? And no fast dance balls for couples being they play fast dance music which happens to be the main type music in hip-hop.

Or another club which said it would be a romance theme r&b just for couples. Upon getting there, they only had a few dance balls and all were fast salsa dances except for about 3 slow ones. This was suppose to be and was announced as a "slow jams" events so why they didn't provide slow dance balls?

I know all about the huds you can pick up for your own dancing but this isn't about that. This is about clubs being prepared as they should and are suppose to be. Plus, many other reasons for the lack of good clubs are mainly because of poor inadequate management. This is another reason for many clubs closing down too.

There are good clubs but very, very few.

Bali at Dragonback Isle is a ladies only dance club; they're always doing fun stuff and the DJ does her best to play your requests. They do have a few co-ed nights, where ladies are allowed to bring male friends but those are pretty rare.

Alive and Kicking, currently in a new location, best of the 80's, and dance music! 2 animated dance floors, several couples balls, and that wonderful fun line dance, Green Jelly!!
