I had a cell phone attachment in SL once and I still have a Planner that looks like a pager.

One of those men is shorter than the other.
The shorter one has built a house with proportions designed to make him feel normal.

Of course, now I had to measure my horse's height. LOL

I'm usually riding Drifter, my Clydesdale. Just found out he's rather a big boy at 22.2 HH, so that might explain why I don't look terribly disproportionate while on horseback.

I think Trout grows when I'm not looking. He was a giant when I was dancing with Gabriele yesterday. I shrank him considerably, and he's still too tall! I suppose when I log on today he'll probably have grown a couple inches. I blame bovine growth hormone in his hamburgers.

gosh. poor little girl looks horrified! bothers me cuz i tihnk she knows what it means, which makes me wonder how she knows. i know it's supposed to be funny, but somehow it's not.

7' 3", according to the classic height detector that you touch. Marianne's height prim at the Hangout puts me at approximately 7' 9".

This is why I make most of the walls in my houses at *least* 9' tall...

I don't pay too much attention to the corresponding height to RL. My avatar seems well sized when moving around the world of SL in the various builds and places where I find myself, and in furniture as well. While my avatar has some things similar to me appearance-wise, in other ways she's quite different from how I look in RL, and I never really intended to recreate myself to the tee in SL, but to go with a look that I thought would be interesting, attractive and at the same time somewhat of a change of pace from the RL me. So I guess it doesn't really bother me that she may be "taller" than I am in equivalent terms ... just not a big deal to me.

Ceera's adult form is 5' 7" tall, as measured with an "Avatar Ruler" --- that actually reports eye height. When I first learned of the height discrepency between any scripted measure of height (which they all show your Mouselook camera height), and any "accurate" measure, such as by comparing to a prim and converting the metric value to feet and inches, I tried to make my height more "accurate". But I quickly discovered that so much of the content in SL was built based on being proportional to avatars that had used the incorrect height, that this made you look like a child in a land of giants. So I went back to setting my height by the avatar ruler method, and learned in my building to scale structures up by a factor of anywhere from 1.25 to 1.5.

My smallest 'child' form is 3' 11" tall, as measured with an avatar Ruler, and my smallest "Tiny" avatar is just 1/2 meter tall, as measured against a prim.

My tallest avatar form among my alts, excluding forms like dragons and centaurs, was at one point seven and a half feet tall. I later reduced that one to seven feet, because although he was *supposed* to be well over seven feet in height, anything over 7' 0" made it very strange when interacting with other avatars.

In real life 5'3" but when travelling out of body (and I've done it. Don't ask) I lose inches and gain fat. It did not surprise me when my avatar turned out both smaller and fatter than me. On second life the height measurement script says I'm 4'6" and by prim I measure out at 4'8". No one has ever called me a kid. I'm 44th percentile for thickness and have some muscularity. I guess I come across as a little woman. That's all fine with me. I love my out of body lil' fat girl self.

A big bonus of being way down at the bottom of the height range is that I handle the animations beautifully. The dance that makes big avatars look silly makes me graceful. The default newbie walk is a cute little butt wiggle. If people knew how functional small avatars are, there would be more of them.

The drawback is using myself as model for prim clothes and building. My one piece bathingsuit will not work on skinny avatars. My one piece dress might not work on them either. My first house was too small because it barely fit me. The building problem is not that hard to fix. The clothes are a kind of revenge, since I've read enough on this board to know to avoid buying most prim clothes because I am simple not the right shape.

I am also bi-racial or very light Afro-American on Second Life. This means I get to wear corn rows, braids, fro's etc.... I'm not sure where this comes from. I tink living in a big city in the South is probably feeding this.

I always make my own shapes (which have been tweaked over time) only the first one was over 6 feet and was really before I new what I was doing properly. Every shape since has been around between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 6 inches. My current shape is 5 feet 2 inches tall according to the cartel height detector.

I'm short in RL (5'6" and there's no way I'm going to be short in SL too. Measured by prim I'm exactly 7' tall in SL, and the av height detector says I'm 6'5".

I'm a just little taller than average in RL. I adjusted my height in SL until it felt about the same. I've always thought height was a relative thing in SL.
I avoid height detectors. I think it is 77 on the slider.

5'3" in rl and put my av at the equivalent of 5'3" in sl unless i'm doing something that just requires me to be taller. Then I just raise my height and put it back down to normal again when I don't need it. Not a big deal. And, as in rl, some clothes won't wrap around my butt, but in sl i flatten that puppy out for the items that require flat girl butt. Can't do that in rl! Wouldn't want to, but still it's kinda funny I can't get the freakin' clothes to fit my butt in here either. I refuse to do the prefab bodies.

I wonder if people kept getting taller over time to compensate for disproportionate furniture or something. Or, it's the exploding SUV theory in here as well... someone makes themselves taller and other people adjust to compensate or make themselves even taller, and it gets out of control.

I have stilts in sl. That would mess up the whole paradigm. Muahaha!

i started out well over 8 foot, of course that was the character i used to play in RP instances. then once i became more myself and found an SL identity, 4'3" i'v had to increase my hight to around 5'5" tho just so that people will take me a little more seriously at times being small makes cuddles with "tallies" look a bit strange too.

how cool would being able to change your hight with a slider in RL be. mind you, i'm average hight so doesn't bother me to much. but could have it's advantages.

With super high heels on I was just over 7ft tall using the prim measurer at the hangout today. Being just short of 6ft tall in RL I'm used to that perspective, and probably makes me a RL freak too.

My main ava is an adult furry and is 167cm tall which is extremely short compared to all the giants out there. (Hugging is really a problem, until I found a hugger that compensates for height!) My human form is exactly as tall as my RL avatar, which makes her also quite short. That's funny because in RL I am a rather tall woman.

I'm 5'1" in RL. 7' in SL. 5'11" on my driver's license (I filled out the form wrong) and with a woman in RL who's 5'10".

I wish I was a normal 6' male able to wear adult mens clothes, but genetics thought otherwise. While I regret my height at times, there are many times I enjoy it.

I once read an article in Reader's Digest, about a study of short & tall people. According to the article, shorter people lived longer. Just due to the fact that their hearts didnt work as hard against the pull of gravity.

In SL, I can pretend to be Tall. Plus everything is built around the max height allowed. I have encountered a few places that werent, and adjusted myself for it.

Big, Tall, short, small.... Its all good fun!
