I try to put on Jammies and tuck into bed. As a kid av, its a part of the roleplay. (waves to his mom lizzie), and Immy, if you need a place to stay we have a wonderful family who wouldnt mind you logging in and out at our home or grabbing a bed. (right mom?) Nightime can be very special in our family!

OOPS! This is koffee! Didnt know my alt was logged into the forums!

But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

I do tend to plop down on the floor at home for a doggie nap if I'm going to be AFK for a little bit. I like to be in a safe place when I'm unattended. But I don't like to leave myself online for too long - I might sleepteleport somewhere and do something embarrassing.

I shall haiku it:

A peaceful slumber
I return to find myself

The bandwidth limit is so low that I can't even get online during the daytime (without using a friend's internet or the university's) so sleeping is out of the question. I like to think my avatar has wee little parties when the computer shuts off.

From the avatar's point of view: Would it kind of be like dying and resurrecting each time with no dreams or anything until suddenly you reappear? Creepy.

yup, each night we snuggle up in those pillow talk cushions that throw sheets over us....we talk and relax ,usually one of us declared they are not sleepy BUT after 10mins we both get snoozy. I actually find it hard to sleep if we haven't had this little unwinding ritual...hence here I am wide awake on vacation at 7am... Emails don't cut the mustard like pj's and a snuggle( we don't often leave ourselves logged inworld)

Yeah, we get into bed all snuggled and even try to log out at the same time, so that we'll still be there in the opening screen shot :o

My alts aren't so lucky, and I use them rarely enough that they can wake up in places that didn't exist when they logged off, or empty lots where things used to be.

Yeah, I admit, I do that. I have a bed with sleeping animation and sometimes I let Mona sleep there. I do that usually when I am out or busy, but not when I am sleeping. She has jammies and is extremely cute when sleeping. ^^

We usually change into pajamas and snuggle a bit, then say goodnight and log out. It's a nice ritual.

OK, all of these beds with sleep animations...
I saw in another thread that some folks tuck their avi in at night (afk) while the computer is powered on. So, how wide spread is this practice, and if you do, does your avi get ready for bed and put on jammies?
The idea holds some strange appeal for me.

Nope, having a computer power supply burst into flames from running 24/7 for the sake of RPing being asleep and burn my house down while I sleep or am at work in RL hasn't interested me in the slightest.

Almost always go home with my partner when one of us has to log off, but thats as far as the ritual goes. No point leaving the pc running while I'm not there, to say nothing of the little bit of SL resources logging off frees up for you guys.

/me smiles softly. Yeah....us too.

We cuddle up each night in each other's arms under the silk, down filled comforter and listen to the rain, or the surf breaking and talk until we log off. We are usually nude, though, and yes, it has led to some interesting appearances in sl. Oh well. :)

When I log out (of real-life!) I usually go home - my home position is standing next to my bed. Very occasionally I undress and get into bed before logging out of RL but normally I wait until all the devices watching me and giving me instructions have switched off!

So, it's generally assumed that I sleep in my bed at night but that's between me and my pillow.

So, basically, no, the computer is not left on overnight!

Although I do things I couldn't do in RL, I generally try to do them in a believable way - if I fly, I put on my jetpack, safety suit and crash helmet (unless I'm just hopping out of a ravine or something). If I go in the sea I swim, if I leave somewhere I walk away before going 'pooff' or TP-ing somewhere else. The only exception is teleoporting - I do that quite freely - one can't lead much of a Second Life without TPs.

I've left my av to lay peacefully once or twice, mostly so I could get up an feel like the person I was laying with was still beside me... sappy I know.

No, when I log out my avatar is hard at work in the prim mines beneath ANWR making prims so you can play!
Make up your mind. Either you mine prims or you make them - which is it?

Generally laying together, either on the couch or in bed, although just standing near each other at times- but poof nonetheless. And I do try for the dressed option- not the sort of adventure I relish, dear- keep meaning to make or buy jammies ;)

One of the best parts of our evenings is when Jerboa and I tuck each other in for the night. :) We do change clothes, and hop into bed. We've got one of those nifty scripted comforters from Jojo's Folly that covers us while we are lying down. I love it...cozy...nestled next to each other, talking...laughing...making plans...and giving each other a kiss goodnight before logging off. It really does feel as if we're falling asleep next to each other. :)

However, as I said, we do log out each night. Our avis are not online while our RL selves are sleeping. :p

This is exactly how Willard and I feel. I surprised and amused that so many people have this ritual. I know I should'nt be, but I am. That is one of many reasons I love and will stay in sl.

I don't leave myself logged in when I leave the computer, so I don't bother. I'm sure if I left my av logged in he wouldn't be sleeping, he'd be off partying without me. ;)

My SL is on 24/7 unless the power goes out or SL has a meltdown like yesterday. I stay in my Cafe in busy mode or I go to my SL mom or dads house and change to my pjs and sleep in my bed but not always cuz I dont feel like changing my clothes all the time.

Nope, I log out and turn my laptop off....I know someone who used to leave her avie in bed with her SL partner when she logged out. But I personally turn it all off.

Further to my earlier post, here's something I wrote on my SLProfiles blog about a year ago:

Conifer Dada Unplugged

The camera has switched itself off. Instructions to do this, that and the other have stopped coming through. Privacy has returned - my RL agent has logged out! So here I am, standing, unobserved, in my kitchen at the Egotherapy Centre, waiting for my pizza to heat up. I made it months ago and, as long as I don't eat all of it, it just regrows where I've bitten chunks out of it. It never was all that tasty but at least it hasn't deteriorated over time.

My home is always clean even though I don't do any housework. You see, the Linden Lab stealth cleaning robot visits at night while I'm asleep. It's only ever only woken me up once when it fell down the stairs.

What else do I do when I'm not taking part in that fly-on-the wall docusoap that's watched in RL? Well, obviously sleep takes up a fair bit of that time. I do lead a very active Second Life so I need my sleep. Most of my eating is done offline too, although I do sometimes eat out at nice SL restaurants and I have been filmed eating pizza and drinking espresso at home occasionally.

Even a naturally clean and fragrant person like me needs to bathe regularly and I tend to do that in private. Often I wander down to the creek in Hae Hyop with a bar of soap and a towel instead of getting in the bathtub.

I'm celebate in SL at the moment, so sex doesn't happen for me on-screen or off-screen. If it did happen it would be mostly off screen.

I get logged out for inactivity if I'm away from my computer for very long. Which is annoying when I plan to pop back on. How do you stay logged in for so long?
