Does your avi sleep at night?

OK, all of these beds with sleep animations...

I saw in another thread that some folks tuck their avi in at night (afk) while the computer is powered on. So, how wide spread is this practice, and if you do, does your avi get ready for bed and put on jammies?

The idea holds some strange appeal for me.

No. I don't stay online if not actively using SL, nor do I leave my computer on overnight or when out of the house.

Err no, I just hit the red x on the right hand corner of the screen.

SL sucks up gigs and here in NZ my broadband allowance is 20g per month, which is a ton for what I do on the net, but, leaving SL on would be detrimental. Not to mention the thought of tucking Bella into bed at night holds zero appeal for me.

Yes, I put on jammies and get into bed at the end of my night. :-)

No, I log out at night.

I do sit at my SL desk in my workshop, though, when I am going to be AFK for a few minutes, or I am using another program or reading the forums.

No, when I log out my avatar is hard at work in the prim mines beneath ANWR making prims so you can play!

No, I don't leave SL on when I'm not at least quasi-actively monitoring it; waste of bandwidth, waste of power. Besides, it keeps my AV from logging into RL.

While I really am SL homeless, most people never really see me *poof* at the end of the day, event, whatever. I'll fly off or walk away and out of sight, teleport to where my store is at, wander back into the dark confines of my basement, and leave it up to everyone's imagination as to what happens next. I myself do not stay online maybe for a couple hours after my honey hits the sheets but he does, but he also knows Im usually here in the skybox building and I will watch over him...

I would but I can't as my daughter likes to access my pc to do a bit of early morning surfing.. and because she is a teen... omg.. I don't allow it.

And I do leave my avatar online all day just about when I am working in rl so what the difference between the slumped AWAY avi pose or sleeping?

I will say, since he is 6 hours a head of me, when I get my creative muse sometimes its at 1 am EST and I can at least kiss him goodbye (hehe) and send him off to rl work.. and I almost always leave him a littel gift when he wakes if I am not there, a cup of coffee a stack of pancakes.. you get the idea.. It's fun. And he loves it. I am running out of ideas though lol....

It kinda makes me feel good to know even though he is not here, he is.. It may be hard for some to understand.. but.. life usually is.

Oh and he did thei before I met him... I didn't ask him to just for the record. lol

Unfortunately altho my avi is supposed to be sleeping, there is often evidence that she has been out and about doing things I would not approve of.

I know this may sound corny

My partner and I actually put on our jammies, snuggle under the covers and we just talk and/or other things. Often our discussions doesn't revolve around sl. This time has allowed us to really learn about each other without the distractions of ims and business.

Additionally, with him being 1 hour ahead of me, we both get to bed at a decent hour. This relationship with the closeness in the time zone has been just wonderful. So yes, I believe my avi sleeps at night, more importantly with my partner.

Word to the wise: It is highly recommended to wear something and not go to bed in the buff. No telling where you may wake up at.

My partner and i run on basically opposite timezones, she sleeps when im awake and i sleep when she is awake.

When it is her bedtime we tend to go hoe and tuck us both up in bed (soemtimes with jammies or nuddie depending on how tired we are... sometimes the clothes we were earing) and we jump on our cuddle pillow and stay that way till she gets up (bout 5 hourslater) then have morning cuddles and hugs before she goes to RL work and i go to bed.

We dont sty logged in when i go to bed cos she is at work, but when she sleeps it is my evening and i am almost always home and pottering around on the computer or aroudnthe house.

It may seem like a waste of electricity or internet to many, some may complain that we use SL resources while we arent ctively using it. Somemay *gasp* say we are bots. But the fact of the matter is tht for us it is another smllbond we are able to have together. We live the furtherest two people ca get frm each other on this planet, and we need the small things to keep us together and help us to feel connected even when apart.

For the last week we have basically been on 24/7 on SL. I changed my sleeping pattern soemwhat and have been sleeping with her (with a few hours added on cos i LIKE sleep) we leftour avies on while we ddi that. We ahve left SL on while we cook, and my partner would take her puter into the kitchedn and cook with me on voice. Mmmmmm she is even sending me the pralines she made on the weekend.

? ? I don't even tuck my real life self in to bed at night. Sometimes I wake up with my face in a plate of spaghetti.

Where our avatarim really go...
12-29-2008 19:13
Since you log in where you last logged out I do make sure my avi is somewhere safe, on dry land, decently clothed, away from large crowds. I used to hate to have her reappear in deserted clubs. Now, I don't care about that so much any more.

I figure that Iyoba goes downstairs or backstage like all avatars to the avatarim locker room (Yes, these good little avis get a Hebrew plural) and dormitory where they change out of costume and compare notes on the dumb things their humans made them do.

I don't think any of us humans would like to hear the conversation in the avatarim locker room and dormitory area because it would be most unflattering. That is why the area is for avatarim only.

Agreed. Ahern is... fun when you 'wake up' naked.
