Is the Mysti tool really that good?
12-30-2007 11:50
Oddly, I haven't had much trouble with these kind of things either; except one time a guy kept trying to cage me. But I was in a sandbox before I figured out how to create a building platform.
I almost AR'd some dumba**es in Cake (the store) the other night. They were harrassing a female shopper - total blingtard gangsta wannabes. They kept using these obnoxious gestures that had a lot of cursing and the "N" word in them, and calling this girl a bit** because she wouldn't talk to them. I was getting totally pissed off and IM'd the girl, turns out she had already AR'd them. Of course, all four of these stupid guys had a rez date of less than 2 months. *sigh* But I would like to know: is the mysti tool really worth buying? I have been eyeing it for a couple of months now. What do those of you who use it think? Sol _____________________

Sure you might be able to hunt down all the scripts for free, but one neat little bundle with a small unobtrusive HUD can't be beat. _____________________

But I would like to know: is the mysti tool really worth buying? I have been eyeing it for a couple of months now. What do those of you who use it think? Sol YES, YES, YES!!!! It is my most valued gadget in SL! The non-physical vehicle (which creates an invisible bubble around you and allows you to continue on with your activities but deflects anyone trying to push, orbit, etc. you) is worth the money alone. Plus all the other features, too many to include in one post. The ones I use most often, most daily are: *AV Detector - One of the best I've used *Landmarks - Saves fav lm's for easy tp *TP history - For when I can't recall that really cool place I was at *Rezzable building platform that can go up into various heights in the sky to get away from jerks while building (can change into any color base as well, with or without railings) *Detects bugs that may have been planted in one's home/business *Movelock (another anti-push device) *Non-Physical Vehicle described above *AV finder - When someone tp's me into a sim and tries to tell me where they are - I am so geograhically challenged...lol Many, many, many other features. And best of all, it takes up very little screen real estate and is very discreet so doesn't block my view like some other HUD items do. |

So, it seems like the thread is converging on an answer to the OP.
In spite of our friends at Psitech, aubreTec, Siege Guide, Blackops and the like: Chris, going commando, with his Mystitool, is the best offensive weapon she could possibly ... er ... lay her hands on? ![]() |

Yes, for those slow on the uptake I did just accuse some forums posters of being Momma's basement types, learn to deal. LOL I don't live in my mother's basement. We live in a flat. ![]() i like the mysti-tool, but have never had to use any of the weapons - defensive or otherwise. Things just don't get that interesting for me lol. But i would agree with most people, AR their ass and mute them. It's not worth getting yourself ARd or risking going against the TOS, no matter how tempting it is lol... _____________________

I came across a couple of avatars with something like this some time agao, and when I right clicked to check their profiles, it pushed them 10 metres back. Has anyone else noticed this? _____________________

the free version of the Mysti Tool HUD has the non-phys "vehicle" in it, as well as the platform rezzer, avatar radar, and a really nice flight assist.
Free. Remember with the weapon systems, it's ususally the person who "shoots back" at the greifer, that gets their account suspended. "Defending yourself" is also a violation of the TOS, and griefers have 100 buddies who will all AR you if you shoot back. Don't risk your Second Life on a sandbox argument. _____________________

I had a web spinner on me, but it didn't work in that sim. Where do I get me a freakin' big orbiter to get these bozos off my back? Yes, I know. Just leave, turn the other cheek, report it. But, MAN! I would have loved to see this guy fly off into outer space. I don't advocate shooting every griefer that comes along, but are there not some polite ways of ditching these dweebs without having to vacate the area yourself? A lot of people have already given you the "defending yourself is griefing, just eject, ban and /or AR them" speech. So I will be the devil's advocate here and offer some different advice. The AR system is a pain to use, very time consuming to fill out and its questionable how much good it does. Its certainly not nearly as satisfying as blowing some jerk away. So, go ahead, take your chances if someone is really being a jerk and orbit them. Many griefers are amateurs and won't use the AR system either, for all of the reasons I have listed above, plus they don't want to attract attention to their own abusive behavior. If you do get an AR, its not the end of the world. The first offense usually gets not much more then a slap on the hand. So odds are you will get away with most defensive attacks, and if you do get an AR or 2, then you can decide to clean up your act and be more careful. Meanwhile, you can enjoy the satisfaction of giving a few griefers a taste of their own medicine. As you already know not all weapons will work everywhere, such as where the land does not allow rezzing objects, outside scripts or pushing. I think if you are already wearing a scripted object such as psy-tech or mysti-tool, it will keep on running even when you enter no-script land. I'm not a weapons expert by any means, but a few that were not used in earlier posts, that I have found satisfying to use are: Space Monkey's Eradicator L$50 - an in expensive and effective orbiter (moderate power), easy to use as you wear it on your hip, touch it and it gives you a list of nearby avatars to target, one click and it blows them away, no aiming required. Will work in no-build areas. http://uncensored.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=20999 MDC RING - multi gadget. L$250 - lots of cool features and some really powerful weapons will totally distort the avatar it is used on. http://uncensored.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=409012 AVPack - L$1,999 so much more then a weapon, it is a multigadget like Mysti-tool http://www.spacebums.co.uk/avpack/avpack.html _____________________

I agree with Arch. An AR or even a suspension would be worth it to me to give some of these punks their come uppance.

But I would like to know: is the mysti tool really worth buying? I have been eyeing it for a couple of months now. What do those of you who use it this? Just adding to the chorus: If you don't have a Mystitool, get it. Now! It's the best thing since sliced bread. Heck, way better! Because who needs sliced bread in SL anyway? |

What I would like is a tool that tells me the griefer's name and address in RL. Then I could hunt them down, wring their scrawny little necks and, just when they were taking their last breath, jump on them with both feet.
Honestly, the best thing to do is......nothing. Especially if you're just out shopping or something. They will find you quite boring and will forget about you. Only consider ARing them (or retaliating) if they wont let up or if it's personal. |

Silly question maybe, but would a griefer even care that they got orbitted? I'd just think it would give them the satisfaction of knowing they got under your skin enough to make you retaliate. Exactly. Plus, the chances are that the AR will be against you not them. Of course some people don't care about getting AR'd so ... well ... but griefers DO also abuse report just for the fun of it. I've never fired back at anyone. I have sat down and laughed at them. Mainly, I take no notice because all these idiots really want is some sense of meaning and importance that neither RL nor SL is giving them and I don't part with my rl cash for the benefit of those people. Usually what they really need is a girlfriend RL. Re sending an AR being a pain. Yes it is. If you are a Mentor, that's the extent of what you can do even in the face of massive griefing attacks and all kinds of horrors. I guess only people who want to be Mentors should be wary of getting complaints anyway - this being said, you have to actually be an asshat to get kicked out of the Mentor clan, not just have someone with a grudge send in Abuse Reports. |

You know, it just reminded me of your typical forum about 10 years ago. Even forums on subjects not even remotely related to anything technical would be full of members who had their specs listed in their sig! heh. Anyone else remember that? Anyway, my bad for steering away from the OP; sorry! Wouldn't worry about it me duckie, it will get far worse than this before it peters out ... |

Scientific Proof that people are loopy. Then a lot of people in SL are 'loopy' After ones buys a plot of land, buys a house-in-a-box, buys deco for said house and pays their monthly SL fee/tier fee they have I am sure for that month paid $50.+ Not much different then the one time virtual battle axe fee in WoW. _____________________
