I've never meet a happy clown.

That's IT!! That's it exactly. All that makeup and seltzer water and silly red noses just to make you think that they are happy, but there's something in their eyes - it ranges from deep depression to homicidal mania, with all of the dark and awful places in between.

Clowns are just f-ed up and scary. Not as bad as hypnotists, but still very disturbing.

Nice bit of intolerance & stereotyping there mate.

Sorry you don't know me well enough to make that statement. Do not insult my integrity like that.

I have been included in the stereotyping and intolerance enough to want the focus to be drawn away from the sexual aspect of being furry, because unlike everyone else (non-furs), we somehow all get lumped in together. It gets old real fast.

Clowns scare the living hell out of me. Always have. Is that what you're getting at?

I'm with you on this one. I'm terrified of the damn things. If I see one on the street I have to cross the street to continue.

Once on the subway, a clown on his way home started hitting on me. I was so freaked. It still gives me shivers thinking about it.

Sorry but I just have to put this quote here. Don't take the wrong way . . .please :)

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

99% are evil. 1% are too psychotic to be classified as evil because they don't actually know what they are doing. They think they're squeezing lemons for lemonade, but in reality, they have their big 3-fingered Mickey Mouse gloves around your throat and they're choking you into unconsciousness while they laugh at your desperate pleas for mercy. They aren't hacking up ice for the lemonade, they are repeadedly plunging an ice pick into your lifeless body.

You aren't evil if you don't know what you are doing. The other 99%, though? Pure evil.

If this was another website, I'd have already shown some evil clown pics, but they are not safe for work. Or this website.

...I had to stop wearing kid and baby avatars because with my natural curiousity for poseballs and weird sense humor I was concerned something bad might happen if someone misunderstood me...because most people think everything is about sex in sl.
Sad, isn't it? Go ahead, express yourself...but not that way! Sorta takes away from the whole point of SL, doesn't it?

Word, on what everyone else has pretty much said in this regard.

Honestly, writing about furs and sex is like writing about non furs and sex. One can sexualize fur and one can sexualize skin -- how is that different or exciting unless a reporter is going for the sensational aspect (and boy, has SL been under that microscope a lot lately -- let's just go for the gusto and write about BDSM loving age playing furries with a fetish for gambling?)?

People are people. Seriously though, no disrespect intended to the OP. As a former writer for print publication, I know stories have to be found. But at this juncture in particular, an honest piece about how furries can truly express themselves in SL would be great.

I was at my neko shinto shrine last night speaking to a fellow neko about the intolerance in SL towards neko and furries in general, and how myself and my fellow land owners on Necros have a mission to make the entire sim furry friendly and a safe haven for furries from all walks of life. Yes, there are other such places in SL, but furries wouldn't feel the need to FIND such places if people were more tolerant.

I suppose the saddest aspect for me is that SL lends itself beautifully to exploring your furry self (full fur suits are very expensive in RL), and to run into intolerance or preconceived notions that all furries are sexual demons is disheartening.

A piece on the above would be nice. What do furries want, and how does SL provide... and not. The real truth about furries in SL.

And finally... as a complete aside... ROLOS... my cat loved rolos. He'd steal my package, unwrap the candy and lick all the chocolate off the caramel centres leaving these semi-hard caramel bits everywhere. Bad kitty. ha ha.

Thankyou for this post Lucrezia. It's nice that some people understand that some sort of journalistic responsiblility needs to be taken when such sensationalistic stories are written. I just wish I could have put it as nicely as you. :)

He most definitely was. And don't forget Pennywise from "IT". He was fictional but damn scary.

On Robot Chicken recently there was a scene where an imprisoned clown attempted to hang himself with a balloon-animal noose. I laughed so hard. That wasn't a happy clown. But it was a funny clown.

He looks too happy to be scary. The witch standing behind the wall and resting her hand on the wall, though, has a scary hand.

Yeah - but everyone expects that sort of thing from Tim Curry. It's WAY funnier if you imagine it's Scott Hamilton.

I actually do not know who Scott Hamilton could possibly be. I am not a big figure skating fan.

I think one of mine probably sleeps. The other communicates with his home planet...who knows what the fashion is there.
