Hallo. I write a sex column for the SLEnquirer (http://www.slenquirer.com/). I am writing an informational column about Furries in SL. This is an *accepting* article not a bash job. what I think is funny, is that people are shocked by the idea of RL furries... SF/Fantasy/gaming conventions have had em for years...
and like anything, if you enjoy it, you can try to make a buck at it.... Team Mascots, Theme Park Characters, Carnivals, Childrens Parties, goofy advertising schemes....Clowns..... it's just roleplay on a different scale (yes she said clowns, because they are just big ugly "animated" versions of humans.... Think about that the next time you wanna trash a furry... or hire a clown!) |

The director I'm working with now, his prior horror film (Splatter Disco) was partially about 'Furries'--there was even a charming, well played musical number in the middle of the film. Great movie...

*laughs* I doubt they would find me interesting enough. I hardly ever 'yiff' in SL, and I'm monogamous in RL, and never 'do it' with the few other furries that I know in RL.
The think most of these people don't realize is that "Furry" spans the whole range from the pervy types that CSI and other TV shows portrayed so luridly, to innocent 8 year old kids that love Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse and Sonic the Hedgehog. Ask 20 self-described "furries" what it means to be a furry, and you'll likely get at least 25 different answers. _____________________

A NON-sex article would require the author to do investigation, research and study. ie, to have a brain and use it.
As most of their readers do NOT have a brain, what would be the point? Kewl video Broccoli =^.^= I think the fun in that video says it all for why people like being furries. I am queer asexual tom-cat in real life. I yiff no one. In sl I am shape shifting faerie elf guy who sometimes is a baby who is pretty darn platonic except with my humor. I elf-kitten yiff no one here either. I had to stop wearing kid and baby avatars because with my natural curiousity for poseballs and weird sense humor I was concerned something bad might happen if someone misunderstood me...because most people think everything is about sex in sl.

There was an article in the NY version of Time Out this week about the Furry rise. It had nothing to do with sex, if I recall. Mostly to do with it in life and as an art form actually. Dealt with an artist who is doing work with people who dress as furrys in RL, and he is now doing these amazing portraits of them. Quite interesting.

Just as an aside, do any of you realize how much one of those fancy "Mascot costume" fursuits costs? I looked into it once. A decent one, with a full-body suit and a well-made head, can easily start at more than TWO THOUSAND US DOLLARS! And that is without getting into options like eyes that blink, mouths that move, tails that wag, or voice changers... Sure, if you can sew and are an artist, you might make one yourself for less, but the ones that you look at and go "Wow!"? That is one heck of a lot of money that just walked into the room.
Hummm. Buy a fursuit, or a new computer? No contest. And no fursuit, for me. *grins* I'll settle for my little fur fox tail, hanging down the back of my skirt. And maybe a headband with some fox ears on it. _____________________

I don't know I think I would be suffacated in suit. I just rather do house cat or puppy congruent behaviors except the litter box and peeing outside and I meow/bark very well in rl. It just roleplaying thing I do when I am bored and want to be silly.

Why would Luskwood, etc be considered "Anti-Yiff"?
they seem more "Yiff Neutral" to me, its just not appropriate in those places. Disney World isn't Anti-Sex. Its just G rated. Sexual content isn't presented. I just don't see why furries should have to be defensive about their sex lives one way or the other. |

I have seen some furry avatar makers state that they don't cater to requests for sexually explicit avatars. And a number of furry sims actively discourage anyone doing more than 'walking around in the fur', (IE without Human-style clothing on), and ask that any active sex-play be taken to non-public areas.
There are others who specialize in making the prim and skin add-ons for other maker's work. Some are pretty good, some... well.  But if you want adult stuff, it can be added to almost anything.I have to agree, that some of us like the look, but don't like having everyone react as if we were a mink on aphrodisiacs. Just because someone likes appearing in fur and with a tail doesn't mean they yiff at the least suggestion. _____________________

I remember finding that - or something like it - on another gaming forum I frequent and it got a somewhat more... derogatory reception. Broccoli _____________________
