his prior horror film (Splatter Disco) was partially about 'Furries'--there was even a charming, well played musical number in the middle of the film.
For some reason, this gives me the creeps.

I don't know I think I would be suffacated in suit. I just rather do house cat or puppy congruent behaviors except the litter box and peeing outside and I meow/bark very well in rl. It just roleplaying thing I do when I am bored and want to be silly. Hey, my RL miaowing is so good my cats keep talking to me... _____________________

~8:50 into the video "No, no, he hasn't rezzed yet!" /me falls out of her seat laughing.... that was a long line, but some damn cool costumes in there... so uh right, on the topic... yes sad that's it's all about the yif w/ journalists... but at least give this one credit for starting with sex in mind, and extrapolting to furries (a legitimate course) instead of starting with furries, and going, oh yeah lets make it about sex..... |

Some of us do not want to be included into the stereotype. We aren't all furverts, and most things I see about furs focus on the fetish aspect of it unfortunatly. Okay so any furry who has sex is a furvert? Who is stereotyping now? Are any human AVs who have pixel sex perverts? I agree people shouldn't stereotype furries as some kink. Yiffing shouldn't be treated any different than any other Avatar sex. People are adults if they want to have sex, thats their call. |

Okay so any furry who has sex is a furvert? Never said that. Who is stereotyping now? Most articles focusing on the sexual aspect of the fandom. Are any human AVs who have pixel sex perverts? I don't know, maybe someone should write an article. I agree people shouldn't stereotype furries as some kink. Yiffing shouldn't be treated any different than any other Avatar sex. People are adults if they want to have sex, thats their call. I agree and really hope the OP takes great care in how they write their article. |

what I think is funny, is that people are shocked by the idea of RL furries... SF/Fantasy/gaming conventions have had em for years... and like anything, if you enjoy it, you can try to make a buck at it.... Team Mascots, Theme Park Characters, Carnivals, Childrens Parties, goofy advertising schemes....Clowns..... it's just roleplay on a different scale (yes she said clowns, because they are just big ugly "animated" versions of humans.... Think about that the next time you wanna trash a furry... or hire a clown!) I would like to apologise to the OP for derailing their thread with my wholly discriminatory and disparaging ![]() I would further like to point out that my meaning behind it was my ignorance of the existence of *Real* furries more than shock. I would also like to extend my deepest apologies for spearheading this brutal assault on all furries virtual and <cough> real .... except Mickey .. who stole my ROLO!!!!! _____________________

I have never dressed up as a furry in SL but occasionally I have put on my shiny plastic bear suit. I always stress to other people that it is just an amusing costume and that I'm sweating away inside it! Does that make me a 'shiny'?

I would also like to extend my deepest apologies for spearheading this brutal assault on all furries virtual and <cough> real .... except Mickey .. who stole my ROLO!!!!! MY Rolo! *licklicklick* By the way, in the descriptions of the different types, you lot forgot the "Furres", those who think that they are the be all, end all authorities on all things furry and, should you do one thing that they feel doesn't live up to their rules of furriness, will denounce you roundly, yelling and screaming about how no one else knows how to be a furre (could that name be any more pretentious? Just askin'), and badmouthing anyone that disagrees with them, or dares to use the word fingers if they've described themselves as having paws or any other moronic... grrrr.. sorry.. had a run in with one recently. These are usually the types that sneer and moan and make noise if a "Hyooman" (Good LORD do I hate that idiotic misspelling) happens into a furry sim. What kills me is that they're also the one that turn around and make noise about tolerance for their lifestyle. For me, it's about being a cartoon. It's about living that fantasy of being able to do whatever you want. I don't "Yiff" (Hell, I don't do anything naughty in SL... too busy!), I'm not into it for that. I just like being a bushbaby. Plus, I've got the coolest tail in the world! It steals Rolos for me! _____________________

I do yiff sometimes on SL.
However apart from that I'm mostly a builder/scripter and that's where the bulk of my time goes, plus hanging out with friends. I do however make money from yiffy products which while nice to have the money is a bit annoying seeing how much more effort I put into other products that just don't take-off. Beyond that I do draw some furry artwork in RL, never of a mature nature but frequently suggestive. Being a fur in SL for me is just because it's so much more interesting and fun than being a human in SL. I don't consider myself bad-looking in RL so there's not really much to be gained by making a human av, as I'd just end up making it looks similar to how I am anyway. Meanwhile furry avs are just kick-ass. Other than the artwork though I'm not much of a furry in real-life, I'm not a huge fan of other furry artwork, I just enjoy drawing my own. And I'm not a big follower of anthro cartoons, or a fur-suit enthusiast or anything. I do however have a horsey who is awesome ![]() _____________________

How about doing a NON-SEX story about the furries for a change? Oh, that would be boring? Sorry, what was I thinking ![]() Word, on what everyone else has pretty much said in this regard. Honestly, writing about furs and sex is like writing about non furs and sex. One can sexualize fur and one can sexualize skin -- how is that different or exciting unless a reporter is going for the sensational aspect (and boy, has SL been under that microscope a lot lately -- let's just go for the gusto and write about BDSM loving age playing furries with a fetish for gambling?)? People are people. Seriously though, no disrespect intended to the OP. As a former writer for print publication, I know stories have to be found. But at this juncture in particular, an honest piece about how furries can truly express themselves in SL would be great. I was at my neko shinto shrine last night speaking to a fellow neko about the intolerance in SL towards neko and furries in general, and how myself and my fellow land owners on Necros have a mission to make the entire sim furry friendly and a safe haven for furries from all walks of life. Yes, there are other such places in SL, but furries wouldn't feel the need to FIND such places if people were more tolerant. I suppose the saddest aspect for me is that SL lends itself beautifully to exploring your furry self (full fur suits are very expensive in RL), and to run into intolerance or preconceived notions that all furries are sexual demons is disheartening. A piece on the above would be nice. What do furries want, and how does SL provide... and not. The real truth about furries in SL. And finally... as a complete aside... ROLOS... my cat loved rolos. He'd steal my package, unwrap the candy and lick all the chocolate off the caramel centres leaving these semi-hard caramel bits everywhere. Bad kitty. ha ha. _____________________

Bad kitty. ha ha. 1) I thought chocolate was bad for kitties? 2) Only in threads on SL have I every had a problem for being a neko (except last night when I was made to chew off my own tail; that was quite disturbing - kept upping the amount of blood and like to indicate how much it was disturbing me but . . ). _____________________

1) I thought chocolate was bad for kitties? That's what I thought too, but I think my one cat was immune. He consumed a good portion of a mint aero bar (AFTER I paid to have his teeth cleaned too -- talk about revenge). Believe me, I stopped him as soon as I realized what he'd done. But this was also a cat that could open cupboards, drawers etc. (yes, even paw the clasp inside the door to open it). I really don't think he was a cat -- he was a loveable gluttonous alien in a cat fur suit. LOL Suffice to say, he never became ill after his chocolate rampages (first time my vet was on standby). But the less said about the Christmas tree tinsel incident the better (nothing for years and then one year, he decides tinsel makes good snacks). _____________________

One of my current kitties makes me think of a alien in kitty fur suit. He also can open and close doors (another one can use his body to push open a weak door but can't then get out or open a more solid door; alien in kitty suit can get in an out any door except the outside door - luckily - he really wants out there). Alien in kitty suit also likes sitting up high and staring down . . .like he is recording everything he sees. _____________________

Clowns scare the living hell out of me. Always have. Is that what you're getting at? QFT - They're alwas so damn happy and don't even get me started on that makeup. Eeeesh. Size 47 shoes, day-glo clothes. Creepy and scary. Hypnotists really freak me out, too. Every time I see even an advertisement for a hypnotist show, the hair on the back of my neck stands straight up. Hypnotists and way more messed up than clowns. God, I hate them. _____________________
