i think voice is one of the new best features to SL.

You DO realize that you will now have everyone in this forum on Facebook searching for you, right?

Which is why Facebook and SL are not ideal bed partners (no pun intended). Facebook have shown with their recent "privacy" changes that they don't want people to have privacy.

Well-I didnt spend much time on FB anyway. So I look at it as their loss. I guess I was randomly picked to be deleted. Funny how you can't speak to anyone live about your account. I am not going to waste my time & energy to try to get it back. I'll just keep posting my art on flickr-where I can interact with my SL contacts. Thanks for all your feedback.

I'll "friend" you Scylla. I have one facebook account as Deira Llanfair - I consider that my professional name now. I don't have one under my birth name and don't intend to.

I played some of the games for awhile, but lost interest. I have friends trying to get me to get a RL page all the time but I am not interested.They mention reconnecting with long lost friends or relatives, but my answer usually is "If I haven't spoken to you in 20 years, there is a reason."

That is so true, which is why I also recently unsubscribed from Classmates.com. My husband & I went through school together, from kindergarten, graduated high school together and are both on the reunion committee for our class. I"m about to remove myself from that too, it's just not in me anymore, Trying to simplify and cut back internet stuff, not add to it. Funny I know where everybody from high school is but almost no one from college. Keep up with the college football team and that's about it.

Heh. A recent message from Twitter that came to my attention: "Do many of you manage separate Facebook/Twitter accounts for work vs personal activity? Should you? Do you feel free to be candid?"

I've thought about doing that, but not after seeing this thread.

I do wonder how some people I know do it. Most of my friends are non geeks, but they have become FB/Twitter slaves. I've never soialized online except for SL, and I sometimes chastize my self for spending so much time with that...*looks at post count*.

I don't own a laptop or other mobile internet device, I don't even have an mp3 player. But some of my friends have gone nuts..people who barely owned cell phones or who could figure out AOL are now buying iphones and Blackberries just for FB. It's frightening. It's evil...it will destroy civilization as we know it.

I do not have a facebook/twitter/plurk/etc. account. Though I do have a Photobucket (I think, it has been years), and Flickr account. Flickr has SL/RL merged so much that my account name there is my real name with Soji as my middle name.

I do not desire to use my real name within SL. I do not desire to link SL with Facebook/Twitter (follow us on Twitter)/Plurk, etc. I used to have my flickr page as my web page in my SL profile in world. The real life/SL merger there on Flickr is one of the reasons I switched my webpage link to my music wiki which might just have Soji as my name (without the Slade part).

If I had to do it all over again, I would have separate Flickr accounts. While still not having a presence on any of those other websites.




Ipod for FB, how does that connect up?

I do not have a cell phone. I have an ipod, but it died and I haven't fixed yet. Died a long while ago.

I don't know, I can't tell the difference between all those things anyway. I wouldn't know an iPod from a Wii.

iPod Touch is basically an iPhone without the phone. Hooks up via WiFi.

Geez, I have a friend who has a FB account for two of his pets, and they are still there.

If SL EVER decides to make RL information public, I am out of here so fast you won't see the door shut. Not because I do something I'm ashamed of, but because privacy and safety are important to me.

An Ipod is like a walkman. An Iphone is like a . .um . . tiny . . .um . . I know they exist, never seen them. I do not know what a standard basic cell phone looks like at this point.

Wii is something you do in the woods when no one is looking and the closest bathroom is 10 miles away.

All Facebook has to do is have a link on the SL avatar Dashboard we have. That will be a suitable way to confirm it is an official SL Avatar connected to Linden Lab.

I have had an MySpace and Facebook avatar accounts since 2007 with no issues whatsoever. This Facebook/SLL partnership is a half-baked concept. Linden Lab won't even make a statement about it - neither will Facebook.

I only use the Facebook option because their event calendar actually works - and you can send notices out with slurls and have your own calendar of events avaiable for your members.
