I’d have to add good use of the clubs group notices. Don’t spam me but on the other hand let me know what’s coming up. contests, DJs, themed events. Also ….don’t get all full of your self. Clubs come and go, and so do the crowds. Don’t spam me with pleads to come and entertain YOUR DJ. And the quickest way to get me to leave a clubs group…send me a tp. Man nothing pisses me off more then an unsolicited tp! oh, DaQbet...thanks, I forgot this one.. I have deleted many clubs' group memberships because of the CONSTANT alerts and attached tps (3 in one half hour, for heaven's sake) for an upcoming event, an event that is just starting, an event that is underway...aaaaaaa |

Things I have learned by owning a club and visiting many.
We do NOT allow all the chat misuse...all the WOOOHOOOs and text pictures that don't allow normal chat and repeated noises when people are performing. If you are doing it, you are asked to stop and then removed if you don't. We DON'T do all the best of contests. I know many people only go to the place just to win money. But face it. ALMOST everyplace does it and does not make for a regular customer. I am sick of the stupid "best in red", "best in cowboy" BS. We have other kinds of events and things to keep people interested in coming back. I use to belong to a country western themed bar's group. Thought it was kind of a cool place...good music, nice people...but I was recieving probably around 10+ notices EVERYDAY from them. TOOOO much. That is overkill and made me leave the group the first week, and I won't be back to that place. If we have an event coming up, we put it in events, Let everyone know the day before, then usually I send out an invite notice the day of, and sometimes 1/2 hour before...that's it. If we are having a low attendence...and that sometimes happens no matter what you do, we open the group chat to talk to our group...and see if they are coming or not. Usually the chat turns really funny as most of the people in our group are regulars. AND CHANGE THINGS UP. We are completely remodeling our place, keeping it interesting and new. Bar/club owners REALLY need to be unique and different then every single other place in SL. Use your imagination, get creative. THAT'S what keeps people coming back. Just my 4 cents (2 cents, plus 2 for inflation) -Blu- _____________________

the most important thing to me when going to a club is interaction. if i arrive and no one speaks to me to say welcome...i leave. also, if there is a host and everyone is in private im's and no one speaks at all...i leave. I am there to have fun, meet people, etc. I can dance silently by myself at home. LOL
Also, i will prob visit the OP's club. I think it shows initiative to pose the question here to get feedback to improve their club....who cares about a plug. _____________________

I will also leave a club QUICKLY if Hoos/Howlz/Baby Laughing Sounds/Snorting Laugh/ASCII chat spam that takes up half my screen...well you get the idea....occur. I can not count the number of places I have left never to return because of this from the STAFF! I used to love Sanctuary Rock. Now it is a constant spam for tip the dancers (who do nothing to interact withthe customers), tip the host, tip the DJ, woot!! and spam tell me not to spam or I'll be banned. In short, it is not about the music any more. What makes me stay? 1) LittleMe, Brann, Cazod, Claire, Kelli, interesting AV's, and funny chat -- AKA friendly people ![]() 2) Good music -- DJ's are not necessary and in fact I am starting to look for places without them. If I am gooing to put up with stream stutters and resets it will have to be a VERY good DJ. 3) High possibility of one to one interaction with another girl. /me laughs Sorry, just teasing LittleMe with the "another girl" thing. ![]() 4) lag free is a plus and the cleaner the buid not only do you have less lag but with the recemt RC versions you are less likely to crash every 3 minutes. "Lights," bubbles, scriptes animals, flashing dance floors, poofers, flying goldfish or whatever; all that does is slow things down and makes it harder to click on people (I like reading profiles). 5) I don't know how this comes about but at some time, a sense of ownership develops. Once that happens, you have them hooked. ============== Deal breakers: Campers Strippers (I have work more strip bar in RL; I really don't give a crap about some guy pole camping) Trance/House/Techno music Unsolicited group invites while on the dance floor. These are the things that will make me leave before I am even rezzed. |

ooh- I love themes! Fun ones- not the best in blue or what ever sort- but the ones you need to dress up for Always looking for an excuse. Where is that and what's the music?Club Tricky.. their next event is at 2pm today, I'm not sure the theme yet cuz I'm not logged on.. But they usually have good elctronica, like house/trance etc.. the owner is always hanging out dancing and is really friendly, too. No camping, no dance poles, just good people and music. And yes, best in blue is bleh.. I want to put more effort into my costume! |

(shameless plug here) I could see maybe saying it if it was a thread asking for good rental sims and you had one to offer up, but to start a thread to push your own agenda isn't shameless. It's transparent and lame. Shame on you. _____________________

I'll go to just about any place that won't eject me. Which is, surprisingly, quite a few. (^_^)
They gotta have music I reeeealy like or haven't heard before and would learn to like (Hungarian heavy metal, for example). A chatty room is a plus, but, real chat, not "RRRRRRrrrrrrrruuuuugbaaaa!" (>_< Though, no-chat-spam gestures are totally fine by me. I usually turn the stream up higher than sounds anywayz. (^_^)I bring my own Chim and avoid Sploders, so an interactive club kinda means nothing to me. And, strippers, pole, or paid dancers? .... I guess I look out of place there, I could care less as long as they don't lag the place. Once chat-lag sets in, I'm outee. (^_^)y _____________________

The only time I will ever go to clubs is if they are in an urban RP city.
For example Bodhisena/SLFD when it was open, they had a club which I visited often. _____________________

What makes you go to a club? Stay there and perhaps become a regular? Let’s turn the question around. Why do you want to own a club? If it’s to make money then good luck. Can I have your stuff when you leave broke and frustrated? If it’s to create a nice place for you and your friends to hang out and have fun…then you’re on your way to success. Do what you enjoy doing; listen to the music you like to listen to. If you and your friends are having fun then others will want to join in. And if you cant be there then don’t skimp on a good Host/Hostess. They’re worth their weight in $Ls |

I was browsing around last nite and stopped into a live event, and the guitar player/singer right away said welcome Davin Romano on the mic.. I was impressed right away and stayed to hear some good John Cougar and Bob Dylan cover songs. My wife was with me and asked if I was famous.. LOL and I 2nd the plug, it's great to get feedback, and this thread is a mustread for any venue owner, and should continue to be. I'm working on a venue and trying hard to make it not genre-specific, because I plan a number of ideas from jazz nights to techno dances, rock and blues, bluegrass 80's disco.. kinda a mashup for those of us who enjoy everything.. depending on our mood. So how to create this eclectic atmosphere and decor is going to be the big challange. I realized this alot when shopping at prefab clubs, they were all space age techno loooking fancy crazyiness. there's one dive bar that is unoccupied in Monkey Urban City, which reminds me of a RL dive that I dJ'd at for 4 years.. I love it, but its not used and kinda small anyway for any more than a dozen people. |

Live music.
There is one club in SL that has pretty constant live music every night. Anyone can get up there and play, and it could be really bad or really, REALLY good, so the guessing is kind of fun. The hosts are friendly, though you do put up with a lot of ASCII crap and gestures (the mute button is your friend). I don't belong to their group so I don't know about spam from there, but I do know that when I show up there will almost always be live music going on. ![]() |

I was curios so I followed the link and had a great talk Lilliana and Chloe1 about what I like and dislike about there club, and its really is quit a good club they put op, so ill make this more general.
What makes me go to clubs? I mainly go to clubs to hangout and meet people and have fun. What make me stay can be a lot to things. Having some greet me when I walk in (friendly grating not shooting at me hehe) The club has to be nice to look at. The colors don’t necessarily have to match, it helps however, but they have not to hurt my eyes. I strongly dislike over use of light beams, lasers and glow. Some use of light and glow are fine but over use will make me leave. I want to be able to scroll my camera around without getting it stock to some lighting. No overkill flashing signs or dance floors. Some flashing is ok but don’t overdo it. Good couple dances and single dances will make me come back. Bad dances in a dance club will count against me coming back. Friendly open minded people that like to talk but know now not insult or belittle others, nothing like an asshat comment to make me find another club. No vendors and vendors spam in the club. I know lots of clubs have malls and vendor rooms but they should be silent and kept out of the actual club. I go to clubs to hangout not to malls. Not too many AFK campers. I don’t like talking to people there aren’t there No overuse of gestures aka airhorn and Ya-Hoo. Once is ok but then they are just annoying and messes up chat for the people that do try to talk. Lag. The club builder should try to reduce lag as much as possible, both texture and script lag from the club itself should be minimal. If I can rez and can’t move when I’m the only person in the club then there are to much lag. But when it comes down to it, its all about if I like the club or not. If I feel at home I will come back, but all of the above helps. (Posted for Robin sinse he cant use the forum. Stupid LL) |

Ya know, I'd hate to nag, but I will anyway.
Instead of "what makes you go" as the title of your thread, why not add the words "to a club" ???? People might think you had a peculiar interest in their bodily functions. Using a vague title designed to lure people into your thread isn't going to be very helpful if they're not interested in your subject matter - you're only wasting their time. It's Another reason to think you're mainly looking for curious people to see your plug. There is plenty of room to compose an intelligent title for your thread. In regard to the thread, however: Not been to clubs lately because of damn idiots spamming nonsense all over my screen. I don't even know what woot means and considering the blingtards that use it, I don't care to know. Do people really lack such basic communication skills that they can't use actual words to socialize? _____________________

The only club I go to with any regularity (Sanctus Aeternum) is one I go to cause it's fun, I love the music, and I have friends who work there.
The contests are fun (Vamps vs Lykins, Ninja Vs Pirate, Tophat and Tails, Fangs, etc), the place looks awesome and really matches the music genres they play... I love it in general. I used to go to Club Z, the Furry Heathens Estate, Zee was awesome, and had a buncha friends there..but after I came back from my hiatus none of the same people were there, Zee has totally disappeared, and the people just aren't as _fun_. Needless to say..I don't go there any more. _____________________
