What makes you go to a club? Stay there and perhaps become a regular? There are many clubs in SL. Including my own http://slurl.com/secondlife/Pioneer/150/48/28 just in case you wanna know (shameless plug here). But makes the good ones, in all of your expert opinions.

Hi Lilliana, good questions!

1) low lag; if my avie can't dance, well then...;

2) good stream of music...but this one was a given, I am thinking...;

3) limited use of "woooo hooooos" and other assorted sound effects by guests/staff;

4) enough room around the landing point for people to maneuver out of the way for newer arrivals;

5) I often go to clubs with a friend and her boyfriend. If a club has dance poseballs in addition to a dance ball, it's nice if there are some three-person dance poseball sets. We will come back to those clubs!

6) did I mention the limited use of "woo hoos"? :D

I love to discourage the use of woo hoos LOL it is unnecessary IMHO. Don't ya think. Mine has a real good stream that we like to change depending on the crowd from rock to pop or r&b (hip hop) I guess it depends on what the crowd wants. Never thought of the 3-way dance. I'm gonna get those right away.

Campers...

making tons of lag and just making the place look cheap. All of my traffic numbers are trully genuine. No Campers on poles, chairs or any such thing. i am happy there is practically no lag at my club. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Pioneer/150/48/28

me thinks yes, otherwise the plug would not have been put in the original post, it was not needed.

The question is fine, the plug, totally unnecessary

as for the question, I rarely go to clubs, and when I do (about once every 6 months) I rarely stay, nothing specific would make me stay, and I do not become a regular

because of the tactics used here to plug the OP's club I will make it a point to not visit that one as I dislike thinly veiled advertisements.

Thanks much

I am a regular at one place that I have plugged various times- and I am sorry I have because although glad for the owner, the lag is friggin' killing me to the point I don't go as much. So low lag is number one - music is important of course and events that encourage participation from the guests. It makes for one of those "every body knows your name" sort of places.

I’d have to add good use of the clubs group notices. Don’t spam me but on the other hand let me know what’s coming up. contests, DJs, themed events. Also ….don’t get all full of your self. Clubs come and go, and so do the crowds. Don’t spam me with pleads to come and entertain YOUR DJ. And the quickest way to get me to leave a clubs group…send me a tp. Man nothing pisses me off more then an unsolicited tp!

funny you say that, because I have tossed around the idea of creating a "cheers" in SL, trying to mimic the feel and look of the bar... just never did it cuz was never sure it would be worth it heh

The place I love is Shiraz- very good crowd - lots of friendly folks and fun trivia. Like I said though- getting a tad crowded for the sim it is in. Not crowded like Franks got or Phats- stll tops is like 30 - 40 peeps. If your machine can handle fine but I for one get tired of trying to walk and careening into things. Only reason I keep going is cause I love the people. The owner is very caring about his customers and all the employees are genuinely fun folk to know. I wish I could get through there better - maybe next rig :).

QFT!

I will also leave a club QUICKLY if Hoos/Howlz/Baby Laughing Sounds/Snorting Laugh/ASCII chat spam that takes up half my screen...well you get the idea....occur.

Another thing that I detest is CONSTANT "reminders" to tip the DJ, Host/Hostess, etc. Maybe once an hour wouldn't be bad, but I've been some places that is the majority of the chat.

you make a good point about group spamming with clubs..
a good club will get a feel for their vip's and send out notices as they feel would not be too little or too much..
plus alot keep their vip chat off limits to idle chat using it only for the notices..

myself i think if a club holds alot of events per day send out a schedule for the day maybe a couple times a day..the constant reminders of ever hour or two oh an event just drives people away..

then the dancers getting on their friends lists and spamming the calling card..thats the fastest way off my friends list..

people are worn out from spam and lag and getting pounded with im's as they walk in the door of a club..

the idea is to have fun not worn out..

I frequent two places, both because the people are friendly and the dj's are great. One has contests which is usually humorous (always fun spending half a day with a friend before an event trying to make/shop for silks, hippie clothes, crazy avie's, etc.. that the theme calls for)

I do get annoyed by the hooting and hollering, but it gets outta hand I stay in my IM's rather than public chat anyway. Good danceball doesnt really matter to me, as long as I'm shaking it like a polaroid picture :)

Music is the key for me.. there can be me and 3 people and a DJ and I'll stay for hours..

OK- you know what annoys the living hell out of me? To the point I will leave the group? When some self-proclaimed Group Police decides that Group Chat is spam. Yes notices are notices- fine. But people of the same group, talking among themselves IS NOT SPAM. Offering crap for sale unless someone asked in general is spam - talking and asking about stuff for sale or to be sold is not spam, for example.

Anything that the group in a majority is interested in IS NOT SPAM -argh..drives me nuts when people are talking and some jack ass has to jump in with this is spam -

ya one thing i could never understand is the people that go to a club and never type anything but gesture prompts..
if i am gonna go to a club and get on the dance floor for a couple hours it would be nice to be able to get a word in edge wise over all that silly clutter..
then when it is restricted to one area people start to shout it..

people say that stuff doesn't create lag..
funny thats how they used to crash servers back when i played unreal tournament..flood the chat with spamm until it crashed because of the amount of information being given and spread to and from the server.

:p good one

Personally I can't stand clubs.....with the screen filling up with gesture chatter and other text signing gets out of hand and annoying. The only reason I ever used to frequent certain clubs when I first got in was friends I'd made (and one place had great camping, but I gave up camping quickly, too restless) But, I just don't like staying in one place watching my avatar dance...I get bored.....I like exploring. lol

The two things that will draw me to check out a club is the realism....a really classy design makes me want to hang around....I tend to go for bluesy casual rustic looking places. But, over all it's something that's designed well, comfortably. The music, obviously and the people. So many clubs are 'cliques' and I can't stand that.

The one place I go back to all the time is a pub in October Country... they actually do their partying outside on the dock....but really cool bunch of people.....really great theme events where everyone comes up with fun costumes. There's just good chemistry in that place and......everyone's friendly and welcoming to any new comers. It's the only place I go to regularly...I used to go to a popular blues place, until I disovered the owner is actually a dickhead, arrogent and unfriendly.... now I never go (there's that clique issue)

I was kidding about the blackjack tables. The real reason I go is for the lag.

I frequent one club, because I can get naked there and no one cares (clothing optional sim).
Other than that, I have follow a few DJs to various clubs because I like their music.
