My first alt was born 2003 and I never wore one until over the last summer which only briefly and that was few months ago personally or even seriously attempted to do anything with pose balls but everyone is different.
The low point for me was giving 10k to a Escort and after that I decided after that
I wouldn't ever do it again and I haven't worn it since.

Everyone brings their own personal "Meat" self experiences, believes and morality or lack of morality to this subject even virtually.
For me it wasn't very intimate thing, it just felt like unhealthy compulsion
with people who didn't care very much about each other except for a fantasy.
It became annoying job after two months that didn't pay very well
and got boring very fast that made me feel worse about myself and reminded
me of unpleasant parts of my first life in that area.
Sex has never been pleasant subject in any of my lives.
And it not any different virtually.
What I saw was people out of control, just cruising, hopping on same or
different poses and moving on to next person, nothing else for hours
and hours of the day.
Personally what I observed and what it reminded me of bunch sex addicted Men and Women who literally spend hours participating in unhealthy out of control behavior
not based on a creative loving exchange, not even balance exchange of sexual
empowerment or intimacy but something very distorted and unhealthy.
They have the right to do that, maybe it wasn't for them unhealthy but for me it wasn't
healthy.
What I saw around this in SL personally made me feel bit sick, feel used
and out of control form of codependent people pleasing or hormonally charged stupidity
without any pleasure, fun or closeness.
I often felt too exposed or was concerned about emotionally harming
others and myself.
It just felt wrong personally.
Also I just don't like wearing attachments personally it just feels unnatural.
I didn't like the person FD became when he put his cruising gear personally
it just felt wrong.
I like being the platonic grumpy creative non-partner elf who just doesn't think about those things here personally but that is personal choice.
Personally with those who I bought penis for, and one's for myself and my alts
I hope it paid for lot of nice things for the creators but I personally I don't know
if I would have bought one if I had clue what the exploring would have led me too.

If it's with the right partner in SL, SL sex can feel VERY real. It's one of those things that has to be experienced to be understood. Because I certainly would never have believed SL sex to be half as enjoyable as it is. And, back to the OP's question, the REALASM penis is quite good. Not sure if it's under $700L though. |

Realasm is 800L when I got it, personally found it not as nice as Lotus in fact
next to the Lotus way to big, found it personally ugly especially with its dark ugly shadow lines and annoying to use the hud. And there no animation features with it.
Features with Lotus are better.
Realasm there were times the sculpty too forever to hatch and looked really
awful in high lag sex clubs.
Lotus rezzes faster, looks bit better and doesn't seem to stay forever in that ugly
egg shaped sculpty type of unhatched shape in laggy sex clubs like I experienced
with Realasm.
One way to ruin the mood I think is have one's penis look like ugly egg forever or look really badly textured sculpty.
Also with Realasm size one tends to have there penis show up in really weird places
during sex.
