Age Verified - Not Age Verified

Earlier today I got an email from LL Support:

However, when I try to teleport to a region that requires age-verification, I get an error box:

Could not teleport.

You must be age-verified to enter this region.


Anyone know what is wrong?

PS I just downloaded the latest viewer, and I notice that under Search, PG and Mature checkboxes are there, but the Adult checkbox is dimmed. Is this an indicator that SL believes me to be not age-verified?

Yep - You need to either have Payment Info On File or go thru the Age Verification process successfully to get the Adult option there. So apparently, LL has not really got you marked as Age Verified.

Have you changed your preferences to allow Adult access? If you don't do this, age or account verified or not, the adult checkbox will be greyed out.

If you can't select adult access under preferences, then you are not verified.

No missed that. I have now selected PG, Mature and Adult, and the Adult checkbox is no longer greyed out in Search.

However, despite PIOF and despite LL manually age-verifying me, with a confirmation email earlier today, I still cannot teleport to Adult rated sims.

Is there any kind of time delay between them saying I am age-verified, and it actually being reflected on the grid?

If you can select Adult content in preferences, it should be reflected in-world. Does your profile say payment information on file or payment information used?

Also, have you tried more than one Adult region? If you haven't, try to teleport to Arapaima and Oritz.

OK, update.

I have just done a search for poseballs, and checked the Adult (only) option.

One of the hits was for Malevolent Erotic, in Samba, and I teleported there, no problem.

A quick check in About Land reveals that Samba is Adult rated.

So why, when I try to teleport to another sim, Tien Llung, does it say:

Could not teleport.

You must be age-verified to enter this region.

Yes, I have Payment Info used. I just went to both Arapaima and Oritz np. I just can't get to Tien Llung.

It sounds like they didn't do the age verification properly, and it's time for another support ticket. Maybe there is a delay for manual age verification appearing in-world? It's instant when you verify online, and it seems unlikely that they'd tell you that you were age verified if it wouldn't work immediately.

You can check in your account page to see if it thinks you're age verified.

Shockingly, this sounds like a bug then.

Age verified and account verified are different things. Age verified means you've verified via Aristotle. Account verified means you have payment info used or (i think) verified via Aristotle.

All adult sims will only accept account verified avatars but if the parcel owner ticks the only allow age verified residents access then it ignores your payment info used and only accepts those who verified via Aristotle.

That part is a bug. There is an "Adult" setting that requires Adult Verification and either "PIOF" or the "Age Verification" will handle that.

HOWEVER, there is the old setting that Parcel owners can do that only looks at the 'Age Verification' part and it does not always work.

I have been Age Verified since the beginning of it -- could always go to some areas that were flagged and not to others. There are actually a few JIRAs on it.

Strange thing is, two other friends of mine have attempted to tp there, and get the same You must be age-verified to enter this region. Looking at the world map I can see there are several green dots there.

I wonder if it is a case of the rating on World, Region, Rating (and setting this to Adult) working one way, while the About Land, Access tab, Block Access by: Residents who are not age verified adults, working in a different way?

"Edit"

"Perfrances"

"General"

Then on that window you will get an option to set your viewer to:

PG

PG,Mature

PG,Mature,Adult

If you do is set to all three and problem solved.

Wow, that kind of complexity is going to confuse a lot of people. From Lil's comment, I guess the "Age verified" tick should go away at some point?

The mere existence of another level of filtering suggests we should not trust "account verified" as, well, providing whatever the hell kind of reassurances it's supposed to.

Actually, there is a THIRD level! By Estate.

I have just spoken to one of the Estate managers at Tien Llung, and he has confirmed that this was set in World, Region/Estate, Estate tab, and Restrict Access to Age-verified adults.

The owner's instructions is not to mess with this, so his hands are tied.

Is there anywhere in my Profile, or My Account that confirms if you are age-verified or not,? I could not find anything.

Yes, that's pretty much it.

The Adult region setting allows access. By that I mean, if you have either PIOF/PIU or age verification, you can get in.

The Access tab in About Land blocks access. You can block residents who are NPIOF, not age verified or both. You cannot set it to only allow residents in who have one or the other.

I hope that makes sense.

Go to your account page on the SL web site. In the list of options on the left side click Age Verification. That'll tell you if you're age verified or not. Edit - oops, not anymore.

My account page used to tell me I was age verified when I clicked the age verification link, it doesn't anymore.

I have to change my answer. I'm sure there used to be something on the Account Summary page, but it's no longer there.

I can get to the sim Rock can't, so I'm still age verified, this is going to confuse a lot of people.

Hmmm - it USED to be that you could confirm the Age Verified by going back to your Account page here on the web, click the link on the left that says Age Verification and it would tell you that you are already Age Verified.

HOWEVER, I just did this and rather than telling me that I am already age verified - like it has always done before - it actually brought up the screen to enter my verification info.

I wonder if this means that my account is no longer considered Age Verified? Sounds like it is time for a new ticket.

Okay - nice to know I am not the only one seeing this.

I think I will go ahead and open a ticket to see what is going on.

Try teleporting to the sim Rock is having trouble teleporting to, I can still get there and I can see in the land options that non age verified residents are blocked so the system is still treating me as age verified.
