From: Quixotic Hermit You need to seriously relax. I agree with you and Lindal Kidd. But, don't you accuse everyone who has played Bloodlines to be the types who will do anything for a bite. That's down right ridiculous. In the...OMG wait...WHOLE MONTH that I played Bloodlines, I only ever got one soul and only ever bit one person. Incidentally, in both cases it was the same person. They wanted to be a vampire. They saw my fangs and started talking to me about it. My clan tried to stick to RPing. We saw Bloodlines as a way to socialize. We didn't care about stats. We had a rule: NO UNSOLICITED BITES! Anyone caught doing it would get kicked out of the clan. So take your accusations elsewhere please! PS: I still stand by what I say in regards to getting bent out of shape over being in a database. It's silly to worry about pointless crap. Be thankful you didn't wake up in Iraq or the Gaza Strip today with bombs reigning down on your neighborhood. Then, maybe then, I might take your complaining seriously. pot, meet kettle

What I want to know is... can this solve the philosophical zombie paradox? From: http://skepdic.com/zombies.html A man wants to commit suicide but does not want to cause his family any grief. He finds out about an elixir he can take which will kill him, i.e., separate his soul from his body, but leave his body intact to wake up, go to work, play with the kids, keep the wife satisfied and bring home the bacon. But before he takes the elixir, a well-intentioned friend sneaks in during the night and injects his suicidal friend with the stuff, thereby killing him, i.e., releasing his soul. The man wakes up and doesn't know he's dead (i.e., that he has no soul), so he takes the elixir. He can't kill himself, since he's already dead. But he thinks he can kill himself and become a p-zombie. However, he is already a p-zombie. Question: if the p-zombie can't tell the difference between a real person and a p-zombie, why would we think that we real persons could tell the difference?

Wow... you're right! We should be ashamed of ourselves, complaining over trivial matters in a virtual world, when the REAL world is falling apart. Take the forums down now. Lindens, switch off SL now. We will all donate our L$ to a good cause. Let's look at ourselves and make a change! -_-

I've had a good experience....

I just signed up on SL about a week ago....I remember not know ANYTHING about the place, but had heard of it before, so i thought I'd see what it was all about. Anyways, the first person that helped me out was a vamp, she treated me like I was her own daughter. She told me where to go, helped me out with clothing, AO's and the like and answered all my questions. She told me she was a vamp, and never even offered to "bite" me...she's a very nice, generous lady and I am proud to have met her. Thank you Linda!

Then, maybe then, I might take your complaining seriously. i am more than relaxed and far from aggravated..it would take a lot more than a forum thread to make that happen lol you say you played a month...great you got out when you saw what it was about..Happy for you \0/ yay!! then again one minute you are saying you have minions now it's only one?? just going off of what you said.. yay to all of that.. my point was this.. If you walk into a bloodline thread and tell people you used to be bloodline then start laughing at them and you are gonna get some negative feedback you won't like.. as far as the Gaza strip and Iraq thing..i don't wake up there but have plenty of friends that did and still do..it comes with living in the Volunteer state... nice try though on the whole guilt trip attempt thing..i give you a 5 for effort ..only because you didn't say you were from there..that would have surely been an 8 lol And you don't need to take me seriously..Because i don't take you seriously lol it's the internet

Lets be real, your AV does not have a soul, it is made of pixels, if you got bit and your "soul" is a number on a website, who cares. If people want to spend their time going round biting as many AVs as they can and stealing pixels souls, why does it matter

From: Ceka Cianci i you think secondlife is a game well you are wrong..bloodlines is a game and quake is a game and half life is a game...Secondlife is a virtual world..big difference..because there are real businesses in here and real communication going on in here and companies communicating back and forth..then you have these spampires running around outside of their RP zones forcing their RP on everyone tricking them to be a part of their game like it was playstation here or something..
To many people it IS a game, some of us don't take it that seriously. I don't think someone is "wrong" if they consider SL to be a game, it's a game to me, I don't expect you to have the same opinion as me.

If people want to spend their time going round biting as many AVs as they can and stealing pixels souls, why does it matter i have no problem dealing with them myself most times..but i get tired of my freaked out friends that think they are going to be hacked because someone told them they are on some stupid data base..i get IM's all the time..i am always making friends with new people to SL..so i hear a lot of bite stories.. so i have to sit there explaining how hacking works and how even if they had their IP they would still have to have all these other elements to make a hack happen..that their bank account information is safe and that nooooo nobody is gonna see their pictures or get their passwords to anything...that SL for the most part is safe and to just AR the from now on.. it's not the people that know how things work that get freaked out..it's the ones that don't know and get scared that i feel bad for..it takes more than a good hour or two sometimes to explain how things work to someone that is not so good around computers.. it's like spyware or a virus to them..they feel they have been hacked in sl mainly because Most don't either remember it happening or were conned into it.. i don't think anything is good if it is scaring the crap out of people like that.. all for points in some silly game..

Fair enough, people should not be spammed, I agree. Personally I think I've encountered two vamps, they asked if they could bite me, told me what it was. I politely declined, they were most gentlemanly about it, no harm done. I have not been spammed by vamps, so it’s had no impact on me. Infact, there are two vamps on two parcels where I live, they seem to be ok.

I have not been spammed by vamps, so it’s had no impact on me. Infact, there are two vamps on two parcels where I live, they seem to be ok. the bite requests i have gotten some have been polite...some just never know when to quit.. I've had people friend me trying to set me up for bites acting as my friend IMing me everyday just chatting ..but always bringing up me being a vamp..after saying no the IM's stop lol Every once in awhile they will try again and i remind them i am not interested.. no biggy really.. myself i really don't care if i ended up on some data base ..i am probably on a lot of them that i don't know about.. i've been hacked a few times and had pictures thrown all over the net before.. it was all my fault that it happened because i gave remote access to someone out of trust.. i can understand the scare people get thinking something secrete may get loose or someone may be snooping in their system or getting to their bank accounts ect.. i think if people were more informed about how these data bases work and how their sl name will only give their sl name and maybe an sl IP..they may be less likely to freak out.. the net is a scarey place to some that don't understand it and that first big scare can really scare the daylights out of them.. i think if most knew it was just their sl name and nothing more than that, then maybe people would be a bit more relaxed when they find out they are on their data base.. i'm sure some of these vamps explain it to the people they bite and victims say yes that would be fun to play..bite me..lol all fine and dandy.. Thats two people walking away with a smile in a good exchange.. there are just a lot of high score junkies playing that will do what ever it takes making the good ones look bad.. if i said they were all bad which i may have said someplace ..then i admit that was wrong of me to say.. i've met some polite ones and i've met a lot of irritating ones..when i see these threads only the irritating ones come to mind or the people i get IM's from that are freaked out.. i just wish most would explain to their victims about how it works with this data base so a lot of us didn't have to..

From: Mira Kalinakov Which part of "Some people don't want to be a part of a shit game" are you struggling with? Which part of "It's a database made from publicly accessible data and a trivial matter" are YOU struggling with? Oooooh, the name of a bunch of pixels which does not exist in the real world is in a data base ... big whoop.

Frankly,it does not matter how many people view Second Life as being 'real'. The fact is that the only 'real' element is the person behind the keyboard ... Nothing else. Your Avatar looks like you? Big deal: The Avatar does not exist. Incorporated a business based on what you do in Second Life? Big deal: It is based off of something that does not exist in the real world.
When you get right down to it: Knowingly or not, you ARE Role Playing AND playing a Game. WoW is touted by some to be a Virtual World .. that does not make it so. Linden Lab marked second Life as a Virtual World as a marketing scheme, that is all it is.
To fall for such a scheme and whole heartedly believe it shows a certain lack of an ability to seperate what is real and what is not.

To fall for such a scheme and whole heartedly believe it shows a certain lack of an ability to seperate what is real and what is not. did i say it was real??or did what i say just fly over your head?? it is a 3d platform made for communication that you can do many things in..nothing more than a 3d chat.. i don't role play on yahoo or msn and i don't role play here.. you can call it what you wish or act like you know what you are talking about but you are way off if you think i think this is a real person running around in pixels.. save the speech for someone who is out of touch.. you want to look at it as a game go right ahead..but don't turn it around that i am looking at my avatar as something real.. by invested in an avatar i meant in things either purchased or uploaded for business.. if you think there is no RL business going on in sl then you are the one that is out of touch..
