Outrage equals powerful energy. Please direct yours at Linden Lab. Do whatever you can to voice your displeasure. Posting here isn't enough since this forum is as abandoned and devoid of Lindens as the Mainland. Thanks.

I sent my AR in, I hope others are doing the same. Nothing is likely to be done in this specific incident but we've got to continue speaking louder and more frequently. Mouthing off here in the forums is not going to do us any good.
I know groups exist such as the Arbor project to battle adfarms by buying up small plots. Does anyone know if there are other groups that are currently ACTIVE in working to resolve this problem? Such as organizing people to communicate with LL, and contacting advertisers and letting them know they will not be supporting their products? If such a group does not exist, I'd be more than happy to get one organized. _____________________

Did you AR every one of the ad objects, or the guy himself?

Objects. I didn't know it made a difference. Which is better? I don't know. I suppose objects... since by the looks of them, there's at least 60 to do... _____________________

Wow, I'd like to say I'm surprised or speechless, but I am neither. Annoyed, sure. Amused, you betcha.
*sigh* What bothers me is the fact that the 'educational' prims are just as horrible and annoying as the actual ads themselves. There has got to be a better way than this! _____________________

I could AR him for running me over with his car I suppose, but I'd probably get a 503 error doing it.
Really, LL isn't going to do anything about this. |

Shades of the Bush guy.
LL wont do anything till it hits them in the pocketbook. Heck they may not do it even then. The only thing that will stop this guy is people ignoring his existence and not buying the plots. Banning 16m plots wont do it. He will just set up on whatever the new min size is with larger and more annoying builds. To whoever said the anti add farm ones looks just as bad. I was thinking the same thing ![]() |

I don't seem to be able to find the name of the offender mentioned in search. Has LL actually taken notice for a change?

No such luck: he's still there. No surprise, that I can't find him, or that LL hasn't taken notice. So many things were screwed up with the 1.19 server update. I usually don't jump on the trash LL bandwagon, but it has been a while since they had such a disastrous update as this last, and going into the weekend as icing on the cake... |

Really, LL isn't going to do anything about this. I may be overly optimistic, but I really think that this guy is going to be the biggest influence in the demise of ad farms and land extortion. Honestly, he's single-handedly shitting all over SL and ruining many people's dreams of land ownership. I'd buy a sim at auction myself if mainland weren't such a sewer. As it is, I won't spend one more dime on it. How many thousands of dollars are adfarmers costing LL? It's only a matter of time. Linden Lab can't afford not to act. Adfarming is the next domino after gambling and unregulated banking. |

I got very lucky with Liome that the four neighboring sims were all bought by end users. I never had to look at an ad farm when I was home.
The biggest difference between mainland and estates is you don't have to retain ownership of the whole mainland sim, but with that power to carve it up comes the very likely possibility that one of the chunks will be a future ad farm. A mute object option would be a godsend. _____________________

i don't get it's relevence in relation to a whole sim. if you buy a whole sim, you can surround every border with walls and enclose your own little world, blocking all the ugly ad farms. i would buy a whole sim next to an ad farm without hesitation, as long as we weren't sharing servers.
if some guy wants to spend all his money paying tier on an ad farm space, let him. build walls to block it, ignore it and don't buy it. what's his income for all his output? it's really no bother if you don't let it be. _____________________

There's some great looking border walls out there you can purchase, or you can make some yourself. In the end, however, they still look like walls. Just not the same if you ask me. Plus, how high do you want to go? _____________________

i guess my point was more leaning towards the ignore feature. he wins, if you let him.

i guess my point was more leaning towards the ignore feature. he wins, if you let him. If I had the money to buy a sim I'd likely buy one on the mainland. I sure as hell would be bidding on Liome. Even if a sim I bought had ugly neighboring sims to deal with I probably still would and deal with it one way or another, so I get your point. The walls wouldn't be a good solution to me, but right now it'd be about the only one. _____________________

I've noticed a *remarkably* comparable 'ad farm' in Alice sim, rather near Robin Linden's garden and my West Trade Imports place...
...and I must say, as 'ad farms' go, quite frankly, I've seen stranger, tackier, more impactful stuff when people were *trying* to fit in. Those odd black prims with the yellow really aren't that big. Compared to an attack helicopter left out going thub-thub-thub for months, or a zigzaggy 100m tall megaprimmy spider-thing, these are downright... ignorable? Honestly, if it was 2004, and someone did a build like that in a noobish First Land region, chopping up a 512m into bits - people would have just shrugged and kept walking. I've seen the same thing for a while there in Alice, and... it just seems so... not worth worrying about. No way am I buying any of it out to get rid of it. It could put on the Adfarm Follies and the prims could dance the Nutcracker for all I care - I simply refuse to get worked up about it. _____________________

Maybe another reason it doesn't bother you is that you have 50 pristine sims to escape to when you want an alternate view. ![]() _____________________
